We have a Maxi Cosi seat, also 6 months to 8 yrs. I really would not recommend putting a 6-month old forward facing, especially if they are small of stature. It did not provide enough support for our child to remain upright. Apart from that it's a good seat.

  • Have 2 of these, great seats for the price.

    • actually.. scratch that
this was one i looked at but ended up with a babylove model thats similar (harnessed till 8 also)
think they were cheaper also (and rated slightly better)

  • cheap but a bit wide if you need to fit 3 across (47cm). We have 2 x infasecure models which are 42 and 44cm wide

  • Amazing price!

  • Hello arkie, first of all. Congrats on the new post, this leap of faith is very welcome.

I actually need to get one for my second car. Might just buy it. How much did you buy it before?

    • I bought it for 280 the first time on 'prime day', there was also cashback which bought it down to about 250.

Also when considering this one as usable at 8 years old.

Some children do not like the 5 point harness after a while due to it's restrictiveness.

Mine started bitching at 5 years.

  • Thanks OP, got one.

  • I got this: https://www.catch.com.au/product/safety-1st-summit-iso-30-co…

It ended up being around $300 delivered.

It's a convertible car seat, good from newborn to 4 years old and rear facing until 30 months (or until your child outgrows it!)

    • That link says: "Age suitability: 12+ months to 4 years".
Have you used it yet with a newborn?

this seat performs really poorly on the safety website:
    https://www.childcarseats.com.au/find-and-compare-child-car-…

edit - just looking a bit deeper - the seat is good in most categories but not in head side, front & knee protection

  • Good deal from OP not trying to crap on it great first post!

I just think a bit much to get one seat and expect to be usable 6 months through to 8 years. I just got my 4 year old this one recently and been really impressed:
https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0776ZJ7MW Will be buying a second if it drops in price again to the Prime Day price or whenever I bought for a fair bit cheaper.

Uses the existing seatbelt which daughter loves and makes much easier for her to do her self. Well rated here https://www.childcarseats.com.au/find-and-compare-child-car-… appears.

The Luna rates pretty poor in current child seat testing:

  • Great find!! Thanks OP! Best price ever find.
I bought myself one last year, but going to buy another one for the 2nd baby!
Thank you so much for your post!

Please research safety ratings before buying any car seat. Don't skimp out on safety for the sake of $100. If the seat gets used for 4 years the an extra $100-200 is nothing. That being said you can get some decently rated seats for much less than the expensive flashy looking but poorly rated seats.

    • Also sometimes the cheaper ones are rated better

Don't go researching too deeply or you will end up going rogue by importing your car seats from Europe.

  • Price gone up to $388.05 .
