  • How do these compare to the citizen dive watches in the other deal?

    • +1

Hi Bob, they are completely different watches in size, movements & price brackets.

The Citizens are quartz solar & have a better build quality plus way better lume. The Invicta watches have a Seiko Automatic movement with display caseback, they are great watches for these prices. I look at them as budget Seiko Dive Watches. It all depends what you are after & your budget.

      • Yes I was keen on the citizen Pro diver and the price is good but was having trouble justifying spending that much for my first dive watch so maybe one of these invicta's would suffice.

        • If you are diving your watch, get the citizen.

        • Just remember if you don't wear an automatic watch everyday then it will stop. The great thing with these though is that you can wind them as well, which is something my Seiko SKX007 dive watch doesn't even have. If you were to buy a Seiko watch with this movement you would be spending a lot more than this.

Also they are smaller (40mm) than a lot of watches these days, so they are good for people with skinny wrists.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: Yes I was thinking 44 would look too big as I have a small wrist. I bought the cadisen automatic which I won't be wearing every day and resetting time/date only takes a few seconds and doesn't bother me.

            • @ausbob71: I'd like to see one of these beside one of the 'non-brand movemented' Chinese models, such as https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/123353755430

At 1/5 the price ($12.99 of the Invicta), quality is probably lacking in less discernible ways. But for quality, not just Seiko, Citizen and Orient, etc. be sure to check out the Casio 200m divers watch MDV106-1AVCF, at $$98.50 it remains a steal

The Invictas are excellent however, I imagine the case and band finish is as durable as the name brands? A lot of cheapies used to have fragile finishes that rubbed off after no time…

              • @resisting the urge: Yes I have had that Casio diver in my Ebay watch list still mulling over what to buy now looking at Vostok🙄

                • +1

@ausbob71: Presenting the best Invicta rip-off to date: The Genuine Genowa!
                  https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/352188353663

For 9 bucks, 1/5th the price of the cheapest battery-powered Invicta.

LOL, will people see it and ask if that's an Invicta rip-off? Any other brand would be a copy of a copy of a copy, no less! Of which should you be most proud to wear?

Vostok: Most are too big for me. Kind of like Grand Divers watches on steroids. Certainly, lugging some of these 'timepieces' around may mean you can save quite a lot on the monthly 'roid budget.

      • +5

I've lost count of the number of sheilas who stare at my wrists, which is really annoying as I ensure the band of my jocks is showing so they can see the name on them.

        • -8

They're staring in horror terrys, and stop putting your name on your jocks as that's just sad.

          And it's 2018 not 1950 - we don't say 'sheilas' any more.

  • Very tempting prices indeed.

  • I can't decide if I want to get one of these, a Seiko 5 or a Citizen Eco-Drive. Any thoughts?

    • +3

      get all three

    • I intended to reply to you but my post went to the main thread, just check it below yours.

    • As an owner of all three… i'd recommend getting all three. I like automatics and find the bezel on dive watches, so i'd probably go this one.

-Invicta Pro Diver(8926OB) - This has a better movement than most Seiko 5s. I find the power reserve is a lot more reliable on the better movement. It also has hacking and hand-winding. The bezel is extremely useful. I use it as a countdown or timer for parking, cooking etc etc. I have never really tested the WR on it, though at 200m WR you'd likely not have to worry about water. Some people don't like homage watches.

-Eco drive(AR3015) if you want something that's easy and convenient. My Eco drive, which i've owned for about 6 years, often doesn't get worn for a few months at a time. It's quite literally been adjusted once or twice a year for daylight savings, and that's it.

-Seiko 5. I have two 7s26 powered Seiko 5s(SNK809 and a SNKL23). They're great watches. The basic water resistance(30m WR) has me a bit worried, though i've never had a problem. The smaller size(37mm) looks great on smaller wrists as well.

    • It depends on what you want. An ecodrive will be more accurate and reliable. Mechanicals are 'interesting'.

    • citizen eco drive ….wr200 so can be used for diving and don't have to worry about wearing to keep wound, and quartz accuracy ….

  • I got one of the citizen eco chrono from the deals few weeks ago (au240 non promo price), built feels very solid, neat details, it looks a pricy well manufactured watch, it's on the heavier side due to the eco but totally fine. I'm very happy with it as an everyday watch, plus local 5 years warranty and 1 year international.
I checked these invicta cause I like blue dials, but after reading reviews about the possible internal lubrificant clogging when not used and the need of movement service every three years I'd probably go for a battery one for my next watch(if I need one) at least get 4 years and no need of major service when changing battery. Definitely i would go citizen as midway budget between invicta and Seiko, but if budget is stretched these looks very nice and still get Seiko movement.

    • +3

Not sure where you heard that. These have a Seiko Auto movement which will last around 20 years or more before needing a service, and after that why would you bother for these prices.

      • Yeah, I'm a broke student so my budget is around $120. I love the longevity and ease of use of the eco drive watches but I also love the intricacy and I really appreciate the engineering behind automatic movement watches. I guess I'm leaning more towards the automatic movement and was just wondering if the Invicta Pro Divers were worth the while considering all the negative press surround this line.

        • get the auto i have 4 of the invicta ones and have not had any issue with any of them yes they drift a bit and you have to correct the time once a month as they might be out by a few min.
All the bad rev on amazon i can guess are from people that have not screwed the crown down either after correcting the time or winding.
for the $ you can not go wrong.
Take a look at the bellow

          regards

        • I have an invicta diver with nh35a, and it's VERY accurate, as good as my omega, and better than my orient, but have been told it's hit and miss based on batches…maybe I just got lucky on 3 batches .

      • As I said I was reading review around, will edit my comment, thanks to correct me, didn't see about the 20years anywhere, so great to know now. NOW is harder for me to justify to not get one 😀

Is it correct they have 24h autonomy when motionless?

        • +1

If you mean standy power, I get about 37 hours out of my Grand Diver.

          • @terrys: Yes that's what I was asking thanks to answer.

        • +2

Can you imagine the look on their face when you take your $90.00 Invicta in to get serviced every 3 years haha.

          • @WatchNerd: Having looked at the disassembly required for servicing, I figure that these are 'single use' items. You either throw them out or replace the entire movement when they become unreliable.

    • -4

Ignore this crap about 20 years between servicing - that's an outlier figure.

It's a good workhouse automatic movement but many find they do not keep good time and they end in a drawer. The alternative is to wear two watches like @WatchNerd.

  • Would this slightly smaller Invicta use the same Seiko movement?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Invicta-DIVER-Bracelet-Quartz-8932…

  • +1

Hi WatchNerd, I bought the 8932OB thanks to your help last time here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/369141#comment-5786048.

I love it! However, now I'm very tempted to buy the 24760 because it's pretty much the same thing but Automatic.

Do you think it would be a good choice for me to do so? Would having the Automatic save me money in the long run?

    • Hi Tidy, I don't think you would regret buying it, just be aware that it's slightly bigger than your 8932OB.

The 24760 is basically the same as the 8926OB which has over 2400 reviews on Amazon.com But if you are just looking to save money you can buy the tools on eBay to replace the battery yourself in your existing watch when the time comes.

      • Thanks for bringing that up. I will be purchasing either the 24760 or 23678 - my first automatic watch!

What are your thoughts on the 23678? I like having the rubber band for everyday use, then I can swap it over for the steel band when I want right?

Are there any other differences between the 23678 and 24760 I should be aware of? (Apart from the Bezel not having the number 10.)

        • +2

No real difference from what I can see, but I would buy the 24760 as it's cheaper and comes with a SS bracelet. Then you can buy a better rubber strap on eBay.

          • +1

@WatchNerd: Agreed. Just pulled the trigger on the 24760.

            Thanks again WatchNerd!

      • +3

Hi, WatchNerd. Is there any possibility that you could post some links to watch tools that you think would be useful to have and which are of reasonable quality?

        • I would also like to know this have looked on eBay and not sure if those cheap sets would be any good.

  • +1

    Thanks Watchnerd,

One thing to note, they do have Invicta engraved on the side. It doesn't seem to be shown in any of the product pictures.

    • +1

Thanks I forgot to add that to the Pro-Diver description. You can see it on Amazon US product pictures, there is a short video.
      Link to the Invicta 24760

  • Hey WatchNerd, can't wait for my new watch to come!

Do you have any suggestions regarding where to purchase NATO watchbands?

  • +1

Invicta Pro-Diver 24760 is showing as $123 now.

  • +1

Thanks for that Cyclops removal video, had a badly scratched Cyclops on my titanium Invicta divers. It came of very easily after being heated by a lighter.

  • Guys, i have the 20434 from a previou deal. The watch has been great for the money except keeping good time. Im loosing 17secs a day. Can these be adjusted and accurately? Thanks.

  • 9404 or 9403?

    • Do you want to know what I like? I like the coin edge bezel more than the scalloped edge.

      • Yeah they're both scalloped but I like the dual colour bezel. They are the same watch just one has a black face and the other a white - colour-wise which one looks better you think? I'm on the fence but will be reasonably happy with either I think.

        • Sorry I got the models numbers mixed up. Yes they are both scalloped so it really comes down to what colours you like.

          • @WatchNerd: I don't know what colours I like best :'( The white face is more interesting but i'm worried you can't easily make out the dial due to the silver on white colour scheme, hence the back and forth between the white and black. With that increase from cashrewards i'll just pull the trigger on one of them regardless today.

            • @Wilburre: I think the black dial (9403) is the safer option.

  • If I wanted to put a Nato Strap on the Invicta Pro-Diver 20434 does it come with a spring bar already? and just confirming I need a 20mm strap?

Also any colour recommendations for the blue face. I am thinking the blue and white strap
