I just asked the wife if we can buy a funnyroot camera and she gave me a resounding no.

Did you tell her it had night vision?

      • +3

I went with the motion detect feature instead

        • Silly Billy. Should have emphasized the visitor capture aspect, that would have sold her on it

  • Let's take a selfie with the robber.

  • I have recently bought one of these off ebay… they are ok. I've got mobile alerts working when there is activity and it does store footage onto a microSD (although the motion trigger to record is a bit slow). Using 2x LG batteries you get about a week of use before needing to recharge so I recommend hard-wiring the mounting plate.

    • Gee these batteries aren't cheap… But the advertised standby time is 8 months

      • Yeah, standby with no activity might be 8.months…

  • No subscription needed?

  • Not sure about this one but I’ve purchased the VIP Vision IP intercom through https://www.activeonline.com.au/shop/non-sip/complete-reside…
    - note, Steve from Active Online is very helpful & will provide the best pricing too … I paid around $418 for this unit delivered.

Tested & works really well & can release an electric lock as well - best to hardwire the outdoor station & I’ve setup to run PoE. Mobile software is a little fidgety but does the job. Note that VIP Intercom hardware is the same as a Dahua Intercom but comes with its own firmware and 4 years warranty.

PM me if you need any further details or guidance to setup the VIP Intercom.

    • $418 ….. 🤯

      • Should have mentioned that we aren't comparing apples to apples. While I'm not associated to VIP or Active Online, I just merely wanted to share my experience with the OzB community. This product is basically a wireless doorbell that has some capability of having a 2-way chat from your phone.

The VIP intercom purchased comes with a 7 inch indoor monitor station and both the indoor & outdoor station has a power adaptor. I'm using PoE for the outdoor station and so far have been happy with the set up. I know that the VIP can also release up to 2 doors but I haven't tried setting that up.

Having said that, it may be worth a shot for anyone to purchase this product if it suits your needs for under $40 :)

  • seems to be cheapest device of its kind around, manual would be good to see how the messaging is set up, if it’s done via sms it needs a sim card, or if it’s done via cloud .

don’t like the idea of subscription services but also don’t like the idea company stop supporting an app in near future.

    • You download an app, and the app sends you a notification.

I can't get cloud storage to work… So video is just on the microsd

    TISM are back yay 🙃
