  • Mystery meat or real chicken?

    • Tasty meat. Who cares?

  • Good, I like KFC!

  • Should I get this for dinner or 24 mcnuggets?

    • +2

Would you like to get exactly 24 nuggets or 80+ chick popcorns?

      • the choice between stability and risk/chance!

    • +3

you get 56 more pieces and 2 popcorn chickens = 1 nugget so you're getting real value from this deal.

      • +1

Even if 3=poppy chickens = 1 nugget, this would still be a better deal

    • the nuggets would have less calories due to the larger size so less surface space for fat, but i always find the mac nuggets dried out, you could ask for freshly cooked if though, anyone know how long it takes?

  • Would be cheaper to make your own bucket of dough and fry it.

  • +14

    Just counted, received 92

    • Good result.

Guess I'm not eating anything else but that the day I eat it

I made an account just to confirm this deal is a thing in the Macarthur Chambers store in Brisbane, QLD.

    Thanks aussie bob…

I will say however that I feel fat and gross now.

    • I just created an account and selected that store but can’t find it. Which category in menu is it under? I have looked at chicken and new products. I can find the maxi one for $8.4

      • Didn't appear in the app for me either. The cashiers were able to find it in the POS.

  • Got the popcorn, now I'm here for the comments nom nom

  • Is this the chicken nugget kind of chicken or a decent kind of chicken ?.

    • (Pop)Corn fed chicken?

    • it's the nuggets that the chickens produce

Eating at KFC Is a Christmas Tradition in Japan: Even though a very small percentage of Japan is Christian, they’ve adopted Christmas as, basically, the holiday when you eat KFC. In Japan, KFC and Christmas are synonymous, and the chain’s Christmas dinner, which includes cake and Champagne, sells for about $40. The chain records its highest volume of sales in Japan on Christmas Eve, and Japan Airlines even serves KFC on select flights during the Christmas season. This correlation is the result of a smart marketing campaign that started in 1974 and continues to this day.

    • Do the non-Christian’s do anything else Christmassy? Santa, decorations, etc?

      • It is more Christmassy in Japan with Santa, decorations and 24/7 Christmas songs that you could ever imagine! Look up Christmas at Disneyland in Tokyo and project that image across ever commercial outlet across Tokyo.

    • They go nuts for KFC in Japan at Christmas

    • Oh wow it's like a tasty version of the De Beers campaign to make diamond engagement rings a thing!

  • +3

Cheaper than the popcorn at Hoyts or Village!

  • I skimmed passed the word "Popcorn" in this title and almost quit my job

  • +1

Don't forget the survey for the free small chips and drink.

  • Burger combo deluxe > popcorn chicken

  • Doesn't have at Browns plain, qld

  • +3

All these guys counting saying they got 80+, just got a bucket for lunch and got 66! I was pretty generous on which crumbs and crispy bits I counted as popcorn chicken too :'(

    • +4

If you recorded yourself counting it, you could upload it to youtube and get views, which generates outrage, which will make it go viral, then get more views, then get more outrage and then….

      Then you'll appear on ACA

I'll roll them in lettuce to make them healthy :)

People who eat KFC are fowl.

    • +3

      You're fowl

    • +1

Congrats for one of the lamest jokes I've read in a while.

    • +1

      You are what you eat!

  • I can't find it in the app :( (…and I'm in NSW, although it's regional NSW)

  • +2

I wanted to count as I ate through my tub for science but sadly lost count at 5 or 6 or 7.

  • It’s never more than 50 small pieces

  • Newcastle, NSW here. Item is not on the app. Spoke to my local KFC and they confirmed it starts for them next week.
Some stores have started it early though.

  • +5

I got 70 pieces in mine. Overall it's only a small amount of food and not good value for $10. I won't be buying it again.

    • Good to know! Guess there isn’t a requirement for them to count 80 nuggets lol

    • Yeah hard to buy this with the Tuesday deal still on. That is a crazy good deal. Wish they would introduce a more sensible version though and do like 4-5 pieces for 4.95 permanently or something.

      • +1

The Tuesday 9 for $9.95 has finished in all states besides Qld

        • damn.. sif 80 popcorns can replace 9 pieces

          • @Thenarrator: I think it's higher in calories, so works on a cost per calorie basis as a bargain?

        • Somewhere there is a reason why it's 9 for $9.95, but 80 pieces for $10.

I could get it if it were 9 for $9.99 - you'd still pay an even $10 and you get the alliteration. But as it is?

  • +3

134 pieces + free chips and Pepsi. I win.

    • I call bluff

      • +9

Show hand. Some smaller pieces are hiding underneath and not visible from the photo.

        • +1

          Holy shit LOL. OP delivered.

  • Me and my friend tried to share between the two of us. Ended up getting a Zinger stacker each just to feel more satisfied. Not as good value as the 9 for 9.95 deal.

  • Only got 69. Sorry to disappoint.

  • Anybody able to provide a comparison of this vs 3 x popcorn chicken go buckets?

    • +3

A lot less popcorn, a few more chips. Better value to get the popcorn bucket for $10 and combine with the experience survey to get a free chips and drink.

You can normally find an old receipt laying around the store you can use.

      • Does the code you get from the survey actually matter? Based on experience it doesn't seem to matter what numbers you write…

        • +2

          Depends on the store.

I had one that the manager went out to check and said it was invalid even though the code was from the survey. Other stores just couldn't care.

Given you can whip though the survey in 30 seconds or less, I do it give feed back about the store (Napkins/Spoon etc missing)

Since you don't get a receipt for mobile paid orders, finding a receipt is often required. If they combined this into the App, maybe they would get more feedback.

Depending on the number of receipt left around, I normally grab a bunch to keep me going for a few weeks.

          • @Tom2222: you can ask at the pickup for a receipt if you paid thru the app

  • +4

My gf counted while both of us devoured the bucket. She counted around 110… But then again she's no good at maths.

    • lol

  • I didn’t even get a bucket. I just got 2 of the regular boxes.

  • Well. Interesting. Went by the Knox City (Exterior) store last night and they said 'Oh, that deals on next week…a lot of people get confused'

    Right…anyways.

The sane part of me is happy I have delayed a heart attack a few more days.

The ozbargainer in me is sad.

    • I was told the same thing at this store. Funny that today the Wantirna store (5 minutes away) had a massive banner out the front promoting the deal.

  • Lol qld

  • Do they give you any dipping sauces with this?

    • No

    • Depends. I pull a dodgy after I've paid and go to receive and just ask for a few aiolis pretty pls. 9/10x it works.

  • I got 112, but some pieces are very small about 1/3 size of the big one.

  • They just scoop it on the bucket. they dont even fill the bucket up to the top.
some pices are just crumbs packed together. Obviously it can go over 80 pcs if they include those tiny ones.

The question is is the standard suppose to be the bucket is full up to the rim not in pieces as some pices were just like crumbs.

should i ask them to fill it up to the rim of the bucket ?

  • +1

I got 105 not including the small pieces! What a day!

  • Boom! I hit 500+

    Where is my OzB prize?

  • +1

I got about 95 'pieces', but my counting was very generous. I even counted things that where smaller than 0.5cm in diameter as a 'thing'.

All up, probably 60% were a good size, and probably 20 - 30% were scraps (could count them as < 1/4 of the size it should have been). So probably not even really 80, and definitely not 80+…..

  • tbh its not worth it. $10 and i got less than 80 also look at the size of them https://imgur.com/gallery/xVIglbl

    • Going to have to change my comment above.

About 60% were the size that you have at the top of your picture ('big' but still too small).

About 20% were a good size ( about the diameter of somewhere between a 10c and 20c piece )

About 20% were scraps like you have at the bottom of your picture.

Yeah, I don't think ill get it again.

  • +1

Does anyone know when this deal ends?

    • i got an email from kfc yesterday (14/11) saying the deal is ending soon but they didn't say an actual date….edit: decided to ring the store near work (Eltham vic) who told me it ends on 26/11, wouldn't say thats exactly soon, but good news i guess

  • Tried this on the weekend. For some reason I was expecting a larger bucket (like the ones for the chicken pieces!). Pieces seemed a lot smaller than I last tried popcorn chicken. Still not sure if its worth the money though.

    • I reckon, if I got the largest piece that I was given (which was still not particularly large), and got 80 pieces of that size, there is no way it would in the bucket thing that I was given.

I thought the bucket I was given was reasonably full (though could still definitely fit more). But it had only just over 80 pieces (95) and lots of them were scraps.
