Comes from a region called Angers
Could be a whole region dedicated to making disapointing/annoying products
Giffard actually sounds like a Irish person telling you to 'Go Away'.
Nice work OP! I had no idea of the range of syrups available, including some classics (and some NOT so classic).

I'm unsure how many generations my family is up to, it goes back way beyond Mitochondrial Eve though.
Why are they making Irish Syrup in France anyway?
It bugs me, Lambrusco like wine can't be called Lambrusco, yet they get away with this…Maybe there was never a tradition of making Irish Syrup in Ireland so the Irish couldn't claim appropriation.
Ye but there might of been, but now there can never be 'cause 19th century French stole the future.

Unfortunately they do here, wine makers even started to label wine bottles look like they came from Italy so you must check carefully the country of origin unless you're already drunk…….

That's marketing talk meaning "it's made in a factory".
It's actually a syrup made out of Irish people.
I kinda lost interest when I realised it contains no alcohol…
