Thanks OP. The official ebay AU store seems to have run dry of stock and I've been keen to grab a few more.

    • No worries. Glad it helps.

    • Do they have a Ebay au store? Can you share the link please?

      • These guys here claimed to the official reolink ebay AU store.

Unfortunately, their stocks seem to have run dry and the store is all but completely barren at the moment.

I messaged them about possibly buying a few more Argus 2 back when I first tested them, and they had no ETA on any more stock.

  • ahhh sh*** i paid $50 AUD more a few days back :/

    did get express shipping though

    • Yeah this one would take a month to receive.

    • Oops, I forget to do Cashrewards. Express shipping is good though when you are in need.

I meant this is the first deal that i have posted.

  • Any ozbargainer's with personal experience of these?

I have one and its definitely the best budget wireless camera going. Mine is up fairly high so realistically only LeBron James could steal it.

The android/iphone app is really good if you want alerts and to replay footage. The rechargeable battery is a huge bonus as with the old model the batteries only lasted 2-3 months.

      • Does it work with IFTTT or can you set scheduling rules - similar to Arlo?

Do you have it working with Home Assistant HASS.IO?

      • I saw a lot of Amazon comments about unstable wifi connection. Any experience? Thanks.

For the price, it's hard to fault these.

I picked up a pair as a test during one of the ebay sales.

The lack of any sort of central recording is pretty much the only shortcoming and hopefully that will be addressed soon.

I've put my two high enough to be out of normal reach, but not too painful to make charging a pain. Battery life is great, the two that I have generally trigger a few times a day with our comings and goings, and after four weeks they're both at 80% battery.

Push notifications on motion alert works a treat.

I'd love IFTTT support, but I know I'm a niche user.

  • How good is this one, is it good as a baby monitor?

    • No Mate, it’s not best suited for baby monitoring, this is more of a outdoor security camera. Reolink has a separate baby Monitor camera but not sure about the quality though .

  • Don't forget we have to pay 10% GST on top .

  • No cloud storage, so the thief can take the camera and SD card with them.So the loss of $124+GST will on top of whatever else is stolen from home.

    • Cloud storage is in beta test

      • says beta testing available in US only. So wonder if they will reject logins from Australia?

        • I think so for time being but it will be made available to all in sometime. It is the major downside of this camera hopefully they roll it out to all soon.

        • I have cloud recording. It working fine on my 3 cameras I added.

  • The cam is ok but motion detection is rubbish. I have 3 of these on solar and nearly impossible to setup for accurate motion detection. The cheap xiomis were better in that respect

  • Never tried with battery operated ones.. Are they durable?

  • Thanks OP, finally bought a pair. I preferred these over the Arlos because Argus recordings are time-stamped, don't clutter up the house with a dedicated base station and cloud storage seems imminent. 15 FPS is fine by me. And of course the price is pretty good too

  • work on synology?

    • no - some reloink models do but not this one https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360004441753-W…

    • are there alternatives to synology surveillance station? their license fees are a joke

      • my work use blueiris which I think is really good.

        • i have a beast of a PC but blueiris uses like ridiculous system resources when i livestream the cameras on a spare monitor

        • @furythree: there are some tips on forum to reduce the resource by changing on each cameras. we use a ex-server HP ProLiant ML110 G7 to run as standalone console just for blueiris. 13 cameras and cpu sit at 40% and memory at 35%.

  • How long before we need to replace the battery before it is unable to recharge anymore? Will the replacement expensive?

  • My comment may be flagged "inappropriate". However, one of the reason I didn't go for reo-link was no cloud support for Australia region. However, recently bought 5 outdoor security cams from a crowd-funding campaign which allows you to upload videos directly to your Dropbox or google drive account(unfortunately it's against OZBargain's policy to list the campaign as a deal here).

    • That sounds interesting - do you mind sharing what the security camera is ?

      • I would love too but it's against OZBargain's policy to list any deals from crowdfunding websites.. I can do if moderators allow.

        • how about a PM? Thanks anyway!

        • @rily001: "rily001 does not accept new private conversations"

        • @MK23: sorry mate - im still new to this forum! ive changed the settings

        • pm me too!

        • pm me also. thanks.

        • @furythree: Google for Sens8 lightcam

      • pm me too. thanks

        • Google for Sens8 lightcam

  • i got 3 (with solar panel) of this installed on my house with 64GB microsd. bought during ebay sale.
great camera with lots of accessories included.
app is great on my PC and android phone.
cloud storage is working for me.
I can't comment on the battery as they are connected to solar.

I also have the RLC-422W which can store footage on microsd and on my WD my cloud.

    • how did you setup cloud storage?

      • Go to their website and register. Dowload the app. Sign in and add your camera. On app menu there is cloud option. Then you can bind your existing camera you added previously

        • Don't know.. I'm not getting the cloud option. I even downloaded the 4.10+ which is what they recommend for Cloud (Google play version is 4.9 in Aus). Anyway it's no big deal as I have microSd

          • @gimme: im on 4.9.1.0

            here screenshot of cloud recording

            http://tinypic.com/r/2m64yev/9

            • @preasm14: Thanks but that link is directing me to a 'blank' page. Anyway I don't have the cloud setting on the app. I remember it briefly came up a while ago but disappeared so probably a clunky backend. I find reolink hardware to be good but their firmware/apps leave a lot to be desired. Similar to Hisense TVs

OK so I have checked with the Mod's and they've confirmed that I can post it as a comment .. so for the benefit of others who have asked, check for Sens8 lightcam.. They have a campaign on indiegogo.. The features are similar to Ring's Spot Light Cam.

    • Doesn't that camera need to be plugged into a power point?

      • Yes it does and so does the Ring Spot Light Cam (Wired version). I feel these to be more secured rather than the ones which just have a magnetic mount.

        • Unless you attach it on the roof gutter ?

        • the argus camera has magnetic mount but also included a mounting bracket that you can screw to a wall/ceiling.

one drawback of camera connected to a power outlet is if the main power is turned off. most new houses, at least on where i live, the main switchboard is located outside the house.

          • @preasm14: i suspect all utilities must be accessible by emergency services, hence the reason for the main switchboard at the side/front of house.
