These look like they would be excellent for scattering across hard floors at night. Has anybody tried these as a cheap substitute for Lego?

    • +2

Yeah, sadly, they're a poor substitute as most of them land on the round edges. They're almost a good substitute for marbles though.

      • How to assemble them into an stuff?
I mean the two sides of one bead seems exactly the same

        • +1

That's the great thing about marbles! You never have to choose a side.

They're implying you throw them on the floor for unsuspecting victims to step on.

@dyl: Not at all. In the evenings I like to draw myself a nice bath and anoint myself in fragrant oils, then, when I'm completely relaxed I put on some soft jazz and my favourite red velvet smoking jacket and stroll about the house in complete darkness, barefoot of course. I find the suspense exhilarating.

In my younger years I had a partner that would scatter the Lego about for me to find in the night, there might have been one piece, there may have been a thousand. These days I'm forced to do it myself. With my newfound sans-partner life and the ever escalating cost of lego I'm forced to seek out more budget conscious alternatives. It's the reason I joined the ozbargain in the first place.

        • Peg board, baking paper, iron.

  • Oh thank God, just what I needed!

  • I don't understand this posting.
The price on the link shows $10.89.
The post says 40% OFF Within 3 Hours.

Does that mean the price will be reduced sometime soon?
Or if I purchase now (for $10.89) there will be a partial refund soon?

    • Well, it is now over 3 hours since the deal was posted, and 2.5 since my above comment.
      No response from OP.
The price on the link still shows $10.89
Guess we will never know if it was a deal or not.

Anyone have any personal experience with these fuse beads? I'm a creative streamer and 1/3rd of my content is fuse bead related. I personally only use Hama since Spotlight gets them and that makes it easy for me to restock whenever I need, but I have tried Nanobeads by Kawada which I think are actually Perler beads? I'm not 100% sure, but I also at a relatives house saw (and nearly died) then used (and actually did die) a batch of fuse beads they bought from Big W. I swear not one single bead was consistent and matched any other of its colour with shape and hole. I can accept some slight variation, but those Big W ones have put me off anything outside of Hama, and maybe Perler one day if I can be bothered to try, outside of the Kawada Nanobeads which were nice, but the peg boards I was not very happy with, but acceptable, especially for little licenced Mario kits!

3000 small pieces of plastic for sea life to choke on. How selfish must you be to support this stuff being made.

    • It won't do them any good if they swallow it, but sea life is exceptionally unlikely to choke on this.

      • Was that news thing the other day 50% of dead baby turtles stomachs full of small plastic like this.

My point is is the few minutes of fun worth the cost to the environment of crap like this existing? Answer is no.

        • The plastic crap like this definitely isn't worth it. I only picked up on the "choking" as it's usually plastic ingestion (like those turtles) that causes the the problems, choking requires lungs and anything with lungs breathes before going underwater.
