VGA to HDMI is exactly what I need from my old PC to new 4K TV.
What do you do with the sound output?
Will the sound output through optical or RCA still well synced and played properly with my AMP and 5.1 system?Careful there. This is the other way around. It'll convert a HDMI signal input to a VGA output. I used mine to connect a laptop with HDMI to my old projector that only has VGA. You want VGA in to HDMI out.
Thanks! Almost got the wrong one.
This one is female HDMI. How do you connect it to your laptop?
You might already be all over this but if you're PC only has VGA, I'm not sure you'll get a 4K picture out of it to drive your fancy new TV, if that's what you're aspiring to do. The best you might get is 1080p. You'll have to check the specs of your PC graphics. Also, I'm not sure these adapters will give you a 4K image regardless. Just something to consider.
@scerfumfor: With a standard (male-to-male) HDMI cable.
Jamesx, do you not have any other port other than VGA to output? Mini Display Port, DVI? You may actually be be better off with a USB2.0 DisplayLink hub which would at least keep everything digital (as flakey as they can be).
@bigrizz
I bought one in June with $10.99 and it works as described and I'm very happy with it. They reduced the price to $7.49, so I think it's not a bad deal.
any one know is this good for raspberry pi?
I don't think you understand what this is for. It converts a HDMI input to a VGA output. The RPi has a HDMI port input. No can do.
RPi has HDMI output, so this converter should be good.
Actually thinking of buying one.
I bought a similar one for $10 on eBay last week with free postage here. There's a tonne of them around that price, so I'm a little skeptical of the 'was' price. Still, this one is cheaper than my purchase so still decent if you have Prime (which I don't).
