  • Bit expensive for a phone without Band 28.

    • I am disappointed that it took someone more than 5 minutes to mention the lack of Band 28. I'm doubly disappointed that you didn't mention the lack of NFC.

Kogan will give you 1 year warranty though.

I was so keen to pick up this phone until I found out its few glaring flaws (to me anyway).

    1) Does not have Widewine L1 DRM which means it wont support streaming Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, BBC etc in HD as all the major players rely on it.
    2) I have been reading on forums that Android Auto does not work on it.
    3) It is not water proof.
    3) Does not have Band 28 (which may or may not affect you depending on your carrier and where you live etc).

If these are not an issue for y'all it is absolutely a great phone for the price.

    • I have read Android auto will be fixed with a software update

      • Good news then. Hope the lack of Android Auto gets sorted soon. Yea it is a must have feature for me because both our cars have it on the dash and I cant even begin to think not having it anymore lol.

Just went on a trip. Hired a car without Android Auto. It was like stepping back in time.

    • Good summary! Does the lack of Widewine mean you can only stream SD? What if you offline Netflix content? (Does that make a difference?)

and no NFC which is not an issue for the target markets

  • Does it include GST?

  • This is interesting but with no B28, no HD and an LCD screen, I think I might pass. Great price for the specs though. What's a good alternative at around the $500-700 mark? I'd like an OLED screen and preferably not too big (sub-6inch screen if possible)

    • OnePlus 6?

      • Still a bit big. 6.3 inches. I'm not a fan of this trend of phones getting bigger and bigger. Considering the Mi Mix 2S

With all the drawbacks this phone has, I'd rather get a cheaper phone with SD 600 series, or last year flagships.

  • Xiaomi is really pushing this phone, been seeing it everywhere for no particularly good reason

  • Looks like prices has gone back up. Showing as ~AU $545.81 + GST.

  • Was going to post this last night until I got to the payment screen and they added the GST right at the last minute.

Tried setting my location to USA and using a VPN with delivery address in Aus. Still charged GST.

Sorry, BA, this is not a deal…

    • Damn.. Didn't go to checkout page :(
