go to link mate, I'm just trying to help other fellow ozbargainers. I thought it could help other so I posted.

Thank you, but posting a bit more info helps even more. Rather then having to read through pages & pages of stuff.

So it looks like you order online & pickup at one of the following Japanese Intl airports at the EasyGo counter (Intl airside)

        Narita
        Haneda
        Osaka Kansai (also JTR counter)
        Chubu Centrair
        New Chitose

Also Osaka Ciry Air Terminal (OCAT tourist centre)

Glad you've added the Japan airport bit in.

        Note,
        - there's no voice
        - 4G is only 800/1500/2100Mhz & 1800Mhz in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya
        - 3g is only 800/2100Mhz
        - Doesn't work with HTC, Huawei, Xiaomi, Blackberry (or any sim locked) phones

Op any idea if you can order multiples or topup.fornthe same price (if you're there for say 3 weeks?)

        • HTC no go? trying to find that information
          edit: nvm found it

        • Please note: This SIM will not support some smartphones from HTC, HUAWEI, Xiaomi, Blackberry, and SIM-locked phone

        • How about Huawei P10 (model number VTR-AL00)

It seems to support 1800 and 2100 Mhz for LTE

  • It appears code 'FYULK3WW' is unique. Entering the code, you'll receive

This promo code cannot be used more than once

    • May be a new user thing

  • It would be good to have something longer, say 2 weeks.

    • Buy 2, I guess it still be cheaper than other options

b mobile is the best for Japan. http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/

    • Can confirm, used this in Japan last year and it worked really well. I picked one up in Ikebukuro but am going to pre-order to pick up from airport next time I go

      • yea someone going more than 8 days its great. but not sure about 5gb data

      • Thanks for the tip. I'm a little confused about the 3 prerequisites. 1. Unlocked (understood), 2. Band capabilities (understood). 3. Your telco must be a roaming partner. Lost me. Surely my Aussie telco is irrelevant once I remove the AU sim and replace it with this bmobile sim (?)

    • I used this over 2 weeks and used about 1GB of data. Worked really well. WiFi is in every hotel/Starbucks if you need more data.

found another code: MP5ZT for 25HKD off

  • vodafone $5 roaming is pretty good….

    • How much data per day for VF roaming? If I stay for 15 days it will cost me 75 bux and thats still too expensive for one person.

Use your plan like youre at home. It's honestly worth it. I used it extensively when I went to Japan, South Korea, China, Europe and Canada in 2016.

      • its comparable to the costs with getting a 4g sim - even the 'unlimited' plans have cavets… like capping etc….
data is from ur monthly pool…

and no one is saying use it everyday….
make use of the free wifi where available…

and only use it when going to remote areas

  • Rent a portable wifi for anyone staying longer https://www.ivideo.com.tw/english/japanwifirental
    $2-$4 a day. Multiple users.
Had good experience with ivideo, go for the best coverage one if you want to use it in the subways and underground trains.

    • I have rented one for 10 days. cost me like 4.90 per day.

    • Have booked one from iVideo for a trip to Japan in October as they were significantly cheaper than anyone else with good reviews. Hope all goes well but always reassuring to hear fellow Ozbargainers have had a good experience.

      • which device did you select? Seems like there's a lot to choose from.

        • I went for the one with a 100GB at fullspeed as I didn't want to risk hitting fair use provisions - Japan WiFi Softbank 601HW Unlimited Data 100GB/month in 5G/4G LTE Speed

        • @Darkscythe: Is it under US dollar or is it AUS dollar?

        • @sickdogstin: prices are USD

          • @Darkscythe: How did this go for you?

            • +1

@theguyrules: Was really good. I was impressed at how easy the whole experience was. Just ordered it online and picked it up at the airport when we arrived. Reception was good, no speed issues and it was good being able to hook up multiple devices.

That said, we shared 1 device for the whole trip which made things difficult if we wanted to separate. Next time I'll get one of these and a sim card to make things easier.

  • it says that I need an unlocked phone to use these sims. I've recently finished a contract with a phone and bought a new sim only plan for 12 months. Am I locked or unlocked?

    • more than likely your pocked is locked. call your provider if you can unlock for free of charge

If you just want 500 MB you can probably get it for free http://trip-free.com/service

Thank you. Perfect for me who only need it for google maps on arrival and departure day. Other days will be covered by pocket wifi provided by the airbnb host.

    • I tried to sign up for this SIM and it said that I will be charged 2200JPY as a deposit but it will be refunded after you return the SIM card.

Has anyone used this service? How do I know that they will refund the money to my card?

  • Anyone know good deals for 4g sim, 3 week plan to pickup at airport?

  • If I buy it now, when do I need to activate / when does it expire as travelling to Hokkaido in Fen 2019

  • Going for 16 days, should I just get two sim cards?

    • Yea man, if you want heaps of data, otherwise if you happy with 5gb for 2 weeks. get BMobile, it gives you 21 days and 5 gigs. This one will give u 30gb 4g Data and unlimited 3g afterward.

      • Can i buy two and then activate one a week later?

  • Can't seem to select a pick up date for next year

  • I going to Japan in may 2019. What's the expiry on these things

  • i'm using this sim right now. and i have no complaints.

  • Forgive me for not understanding but why does it say Unlimited 4G data then it says "when the traffic flow exceeds 30GB, the data speed will be reduced to 3G". So it's not unlimited? What am I missing here?

    • its unlimited data but 30gb 4g and then 3g. it is not unlimited 4g

  • +1

just got back from Japan. used this

    https://docomo.prepaid-sim.jp/

1080yen, 15 days valid from activation. only 3G but you can "earn" bonus LTE/4G data by watching vids, doing a survey, etc on the website (do these from home, open multiple windows rather than doing each one separately.

you can pay more for better data options - I didn't need those.

all airbnbs had wifi so I would use that to upload any photos.

the the sim was fine for that anyway with 3G.

pick from Narita airport was easy. I chose the lawson convenience store on level 2 in terminal 3 (you walk past it after clearing immigration) . showed the convenience store guy the print out of the purchase confirmation (with order number) and got the sim.

inserted sim. which allowed access to the docomo website to then activate the sim (using the 16(?) digit code on the back of the simcard packing) - and that is all.

  • hi mate - does it have good coverage in osaka & kyoto? did u go to these places?
