Does 10% cashback from cashrewards work with AMD10 coupon? That'd be a crazy price

    • +1

Got mine on last deal and it is tracking it though still hoping if it really gets paid out.

    • If it's listed, yes.

  • anyone bought from lenovo before? How long does it normally take for delivery?

    • Customised laptop will take around 1 week to built and another 1 week or less for delivery. But again YMMV as that's what I got from their rep.

      • thanks Mozz :)

    • My stock standard one from the last deal took a bit over 3 weeks.

    • According to the shipping thingy they gave me, approx 7-9 days from when they confirm it.

Hoping that's just them covering themselves, would like to get it sooner.

It's more if you buy a customised version though.

  • Oh come on! Bought it not even 24 hrs ago and now it is $30 cheaper? Haha! Nice one OP!

    • I know how you feel, I'm in the same boat haha

      • You guys could try cancelling your orders and ordering up a new one again : )

        • Anybody know how to do this?

        • @Dogsrule: I live chatted and got it cancelled, maybe try there?

        • +1

          @awkwardmon:

          Don't cancel yet!

Make sure you can get the new AMD10 deal to work/apply in cart first. I tried and it didn't work and now it is gone =S

  • Hows the "Vega" graphics? good enough for low-end games?

    • +1

For gaming this should be between the 940mx/mx130 and the mx150 at least on bench marks and fps. The Intel CPU is still slightly ahead of the AMD offering but the gap is closer than before.

    • Check notebook mark/check (whatever the sight is) for some gaming benchmarks.

Search UHD 620 vs vega 8 and you should find what I'm talking about. Will also give you a comparison to the intel chip.

As a TLDR though, for a laptops iGPU it's pretty good. On par with some dedicated laptop GPUs (older/budget ones mind that).

  • Can anyone comment on the screen quality? It says IPS, but I know some aren't that great. I'd like to use if for some photo and video editing.

    • +2

I read a review saying the panel was pretty dim and the colours not very vibrant, so they recommended against anyone looking to do graphics work from getting it.

They got BSODs from just viewing YouTube videos apparently, which was pretty disturbing to see…

Was tempted to get this based on the hardware specs alone, but the review pretty much scared me off it.

      • Dang :(

        Thanks for the info.

    • +1

It's good that it is a matte screen, no horrible reflections.

    • +2

      Here is the specs
      “14" FHD IPS (1920x1080), anti-glare, IPS, 250 nits, 400:1 contrast ratio”

Those 250 nits would be hard to take if you were coming from something like a MacBook Pro, but at the price…..just darken the room and keep reminding yourself of the bargainzzzz.

    • +1

I have a e485. Screen quality is a bit average. HD yes, colours not vibrant and struggles in bright daylight.

Commenter below said there at BSOD, I put a fresh install of windows 10 on it. I have as actually got 2 BSODs in the 2 months I've owned it, not related to anything really.

For ~$720 after cashback its pretty damn solid, fast and looks like it will last me quite a while. Will probably upgrade from 128 soon because its pitiful.

    • For the price? This is half decent budget level where the standard screen is an awful 720p screen. It's worth it if you're looking for one in this range.

  • Anyone can comment on the screen?
E480 having the Intel chip has high delta for colour accuracy according to Notebookcheck…

Edit: just saw comment above, posted this few minutes late.

  • What is the texture of the mouse pad / wrist area like? I know this sounds like a small thing to consider, but I prefer glossy smooth textures over rougher ones. When you use a notebook frequently rougher textures can cause skin irritation for some.

    • +1

I think if you are wanting a particularly smooth trackpad surface you should buy a laptop with a glass trackpad? eg Dell XPS, MacBook … (I'm not sure of any other brands that have glass trackpads?).

      Edit: maybe ThinkPad carbon?

      • Thanks; appreciate the advice.
It is actually one of the first things that interest me with notebooks; the texture feel of where your hands may rest.

      • +1

I would love a ThinkPad that was ThinkNipple only, are there current models without the touchpad?

  • How abt the 14" model?

    • This is 14 inch isn't it?

    • my bad yes it is

How has the experience been for warranty issues? Anyone had a device fail after warranty? If so, how much of a pain was it to get them to adhere to Australian Consumer Law?

    • +2

i had issue within the warranty period, took them quite a while trying to fix it but in the end they hed to replace the laptop. all in all not a bad result to me.

    • +2

I once had an issue with battery that lost too much of it's capacity over it's life. This was still under warranty but battery issues, unless it's an outright failure are a bit of a grey area. Anywya, the battery was down to under 85% of rated capacity but after only less than a year and it only had very few cycles on it. Took a fair bit of emailing between me and the support tech but they finally approved a replacement. Took time, like over several days worth because of a lot of back and forth, but it was painless.

My case was helped by the fact that my Laptop had 2 batteries and the one that had far more charge cycles showed close to 94% of rated capacity.

cashrewards link to lenovo seems to be down? anyone else is trying cashrewards?

  • +1

looks like the 15" model has a better display. Brighter and higher contrast.

  • +2

Coupon fails to apply to my cart - weirdness!

  • -1

Yea even though it advertised for the AMD10 and 13Sep end date, I couldn't get it to apply.

And now it is gone =S (But the price definitely was great!) Hope it'll come back.

  • +3

I think I need to block Lenovo deals.
Each time I see this I think about how I'd love to upgrade my E480 (the intel + nvidia one) to this but I really don't use a laptop at all!
One day I might give in and buy this.

  • Gee they only get 1.3 stars on product review.

    https://www.productreview.com.au/p/lenovo.html

  • Is this still valid, or is there a comparable deal?

    Sucks I missed out!
