  • So what in the Intel range of processors would an AMD Ryzen 5 2500U be equal to.

  • this or Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 510 - 12" FHD Touch Display/i5/8GB/256 SSD better?

    • where?

    • Don't know about the Yoga but I bought a Miix 510 with those specs a year ago and regretted it almost instantly. Lots of quirks, poor battery life, noisy fan and more.

  • no mention of weight

    • I am expecting somewhere around 1.6 kg.

    • looking at specs online it is around 1.6kg

    • I highly doubt that more technical specifications aren't widely available via a simple Google search.

Good price, although I would worry about warranty.

It is actually a quite new model/machine spec, that LENOVO AU still hasn't got its page up.

Comes with 12m warranty should be nothing to worry about, last lenovo laptop I purchased from grays said 12m warranty & came with 3 years premium warranty lol, worth checking the serial number on lenovo site before contacting grays for warranty

    • My experience with grays refurbished has been great

Howver this says scratches possible. So I would assume it's in worse condition compared to mine.

Mine were all virtually brand new

  • Does this come with tax invoice?

if anyone is interested heres how the cpu / gpu fare - https://www.techspot.com/review/1545-amd-ryzen-5-2500u/

I'm on the fence with this one, looks lovely and portable but Idk if it will pull off the games I want to throw at it… (overwatch)

    • Hows the GPU fare against my laptops 840m? Worth the upgrade?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOiZEl6FrcY check this, there areent many comparisons

Notebookcheck said these chips can compete with a 940M dedicated graphics cards IIRC.
Which is pretty impressive, when you look at the price of this unit (and small size).
The Ryzen 2500U is actually a great little chip if you're looking for a budget laptop with decent processing power and that can play some recent 3d games on low-medium settings.
Unfortunately, you have to make sure the manufacturers using this chip run the memory in dual channel mode or else the performance is effectively halved (i.e. equivalent to Intel integrated graphics, 620). Many of the most interesting models I found (there was a 13" Dell model I was particularly interested in) unfortunately run single channel, which is a deal breaker. This particular model, however, runs dual channel, so you should get near optimal graphics performance.

    • but Idk if it will pull off the games I want to throw at it… (overwatch)

Why would it? It's not a gaming laptop.

      • because I want something for travel and light gaming? thats why. if this ran OW at 1080p id be down.

        • I meant why would it be able to 'pull off games', it's not designed to be used as a gaming laptop in any way.

        • maybe spend more for a laptop with a better gpu then

        • Well…Like I said, travel and light gaming.
          I don't want a portable heater with a 1070 in it.
Something with a 1050/ti would do The job.

  • Good price but beware of GraysOnline. Last Lenovo I bought had the serial number scratched off and although promised 12 months warranty I got 3.

Had an issue about 2.5 months in but told that I needed evidence of the fault (which was the keyboard randomly disconnecting, it was a 2 in 1 - also the touchpad had dead spots) and was told I could send it to them and be charged $150 + return shipping charges if there was no fault found. Didn't want to risk that.

    • Film a video and return back to them. I had bad experience with them as well, send me a faulty device and I returned within 48hours ,just wasting time.Good price but you need luck to have a good unit. Them knows some unit has faulty when buying bulk from lenovo.

A comparison between AMD Ryzen 5 2500U and Intel Core i5-8250U in playing Fortnite, for those wondering about graphics performance.

EDIT: oh lol, the item is sold out anyway. (Looking at the product code "81H9000CAU", that is the same as the one being sold, exclusively so far, at Harvey Norman. Hopefully won't be too difficult to find out about warranty status with Lenovo)

Just got mine, looks pristine. Delivery was way faster than expected.

Will test when i get home.

    • Yeah seems to be working all good. Dodgy Mcafee shit installed but can be uninstalled. Seems to be all ok!

Oh i should note i got a black version, would've preferred grey but whatever

      • How are you finding it so far? waiting for another to go in stock to make a purchase. Just sold my 2 in 1 tablet for $500. Old 840M GPU and i7-4510u. Looking to get this or something equivalent…
