    • Spoke with them today. The giftcard is fine for people porting from other providers to the $39/20gb/unlimited calls n texts, in but they won't give it to existing Telstra customers

      • I had a broadband plan with Telstra. I ported my number via JB Hifi. They asked me my Telstra account to add the mobile service to it (and skip the credit check).

        I signed up to the $49 plan + $10 porting discount. I got the $200 gift card.
        I called Telstra, and they simply added the Peace of Mind to my plan. The employee on the phone said it is the same plan on their system, just with more benefits for current customers.

  • I literally got 20 gb for 39 with Telstra 12 months ago. Would expect more data or be cheaper 12 months later.

  • Am I correct in understanding that this is only for customers who have an exisiting service? Hence "Companion". You can't add it to your current mobile plan with Telstra, it would be for a second BYO plan or if you are adding a companion plan to an exisiting broadband service.

    • Correct. To qualify as an existing customer you need to either have an existing mobile/tablet/mobile broadband/internet service. Possibly foxtel too but I'm not 100% sure on that.
      Companion plan is only available as a new service or recontracting.

      • Didnt work for me trying to recontract 3 services. Couldnt be bothered trying to get another agent.

    • I got the targeted email and was able to get this deal minus the 'peace of mind data' on mine and my wife's current Telstra mobile numbers via 24x7 chat. Both were out of contract on previous BYO SIM plans. Went from $40/10gb to $39/20gb so I'm happy.

  • It would be a nice feature if Telstra start to offer data bank (same as Belong and Woolworths). They all are Telstra resellers.

    • 20gb a month + unlimited data at 1.5mbps is pretty good honestly.

    I don't get how they give you a port in discount if you have to be a customer already.
    I want to try for my girlfriend who is currently on Telstra prepaid

    • I have a plan with Telstra and my wife has Telstra Prepaid. I applied to transfer her number to this plan and they applied the $10/month discount though the online chat. I assume her number and the $39/month cost now gets added to my bill? Will have to wait and see.

  • I signed up for this this morning as an existing customer on a BYO sim 12 month plan, didn't have to "port in" or anything, discount still applied. It's all about getting the right online chat person.

        Yep. Got my gift card, and got Telstra to add the POMD. Ironically, the extra 5gb, wasn't added on, when JB hi-fi for the port over.
        So I had a complaint there too.

        • I got an extra 5gb, instead of the POMD.
          So, added with the JB hi-fi $200 gift card deal, have 25 GB data, $39 month, over 12 months.

  • Just wondering how long it took for people for this deal till the order was processed. I applied last night, I am an existing Telstra broadband customer, it accepted my details and gave me a weird order reference number which even the Telstra Live chat reps aren't able to find. It says "We'll process your order and send you a email confirmation in the next 24-48 hours", nothing yet though. Hopefully I'll get it soon.

    • I have ported out to Belong, submitted online, still waiting. maybe i should go with the online chat rather than the link above

      • I just got a confirmation email last night, along with a tracking number for my SIM!

      • 29/08: got a SMS ask to verify driver license with online chat
        30/08: got the email with tracking number

        • 31/08: received my SIM this morning by StarTrack, activated it, and now with the new plan

  • Old 50 a mth plan 12gig expired. Ported to Voda and tried getting the JB deal. Since only ported out for 3 days, they rejected me and said must be ported out for 30 days or more. At this point, stuck with Vodafone, felt like I was in a train tunnel 24/7. Thought Optus was bad, but boy..new lows! I went to Telstra live chat after 6pm. Applied new Companion plan last Wednesday night. Only received sim and activation today. All sorted after 6 days
