  • Sorry double post

  • How good are these laptops ? And how realiable is this website?

    • Also the i7 model was $50 more a couple of weeks ago, better deal there.

    • I highly do not recommend getting a pre-order with the store. I have waited more than 5 weeks, constantly calling and when they've assured me it will come in on certain days only to get frustrated. They also dont call when they say they will as well which adds to frustration. I've experienced terrible customer service despite several positive comments I've read from here.

L-series and SL series also to be had for under $1,000. Other models appear to be heavily discounted.

other variants available. I'd get any of these before the HP!

    • Are these sandy bridge?

      • I thought Sandy Bridge were ALL recalled at the mo.

        • After the first few days of talking and whatever they unrecalled them so to speak.

      • no these are not sandybridge

    • Plus i'm still not 100% on lenovo, better than HP but not by much:

    • I wanted a laptop with discrete graphics, these models do not offer them

    • integrated intel graphics ftl

      • yes discrete versus integrated, you no unnerstan?

  • I'd say anybody wanting to use the HP for gaming , with a HD5650 gpu, it'd fair quite well.
Definitely a lot better than the intel graphics the lenovos offer.

  • I wonder if there's any heat issue with this HP…

    • i doubt it

my friend has a i5 HP and has no heating issues

      i have a i7 HP and has heating issues(max is approx 98C)(using prime 95)

i7 gets hot, mine is Arrandale, but i do not know about the Sandy Bridges ones
and the one listed in this post is Arrandale, so it shouldn't go that hot

I guess on warm sunny summer's day a sandy bridge would get rather hot under the feet.

          took me a few seconds..

    • Had a DV6 for over a year now. Used it extensively and also as a main desktop comp connected to my 24" Dell monitor… ran sweet as. gaming was fine as was FS X.
Never had heat issues but always ensured that the fans in the bottom were raised so they could do their intended job.
It has been on a lot of long distance travels too and has never given a single hint of falure. Had a key cover pop off once but clipped it back on.. this can happen with all laptops because of how the key covers are mounted.
The one on offer here is damn good specs for the money.
Shop around and you may find it elsewhere at this price, laptop prices are VERY negotiable in most places these days… try it!

      • Never had heat issues but always ensured that the fans in the bottom were raised

Do you have an i5 or i7? I believe most heating issues are with the i7.

Fans are usually at the back/side of the laptop to expel hot air. I guess you mean ensuring air vents at the bottom of the laptop are not blocked to enable sufficient air to be sucked in. There probably are some laptops with fans at the bottom but that would be bad design.
