At least when my wife divorces me, I'll have plenty of great options for telling the time!

    • As if she's not going to take the watches.

  • +4

Pity it's not one of the better looking Presage models, since it's very cheap.

  • +3

The Seiko Auto Prospex Turtle SRP775K is an iconic great looking watch. Cheapest I've ever seen it.

    • +2

I have this Turtle and absolutely love it. Hate gold watches, but love down gold on a tool watch. The Bracelet is OK (comfortable once sized), but still has a cheapish clasp like every other Seiko.

In case anyone is wondering - it has better finishing than an SKX, and feels more premium on the bracelet. I wore a Padi Turtle last week on a nato, but it looks killer on a bracelet.

  • +3

I’m currently wearing that black/good turtle from the last deal. Such a nice looking watch.

    • how much was it ?

      • Probably same if not more than this deal.

      • +4

The last time I posted the SRP775K was on my 300th Deal Post for $299.00 shipped.

        • That’s the one I bought. More expensive but totally worth it to me!

  • +2

Thanks WatchNerd. Exceptional deals on all three watches.

I went through the Starbuy deal page and saw the Citizen
    Perpetual Calendar BL8140-80E
at $339 which is the price it was reduced to for the MathNerd OzB Special.

It's a great watch and well worth the buy!

    • +2

I added your deal to the post, cheers.

      • Thanks mate, much appreciated.

        • +4

For a second I thought you are talking to yourself.

  • +2

Damn that's cheap. Wrong Color but I may need it anyway!

    • which 1 ?

      • turtle

        • same sweet price wring colour …blue would have been nice. but sooo cheap

    • +1

Agreed, I hate the colour but having trouble resisting for that price lol

    • +1

Color is just only thing that put me off but the price is trying to change my mind :)

      Damn it is hard.

    • +1

I bought one for my dad last time but fell in love with the colour when it arrived, decided to keep for myself. Haha

  • got me OP, wanted a turtle for ages and that ones so cheap can probably even sell it on if i do decide it's the wrong color for me :)
believe these are usually more expensive with the steel band too (as this has)?

edit: can anyone recommend a rubber band for this watch? undecided which i'd like so would prefer both

    • +1

I know it's an upgrade from the basic SKX bands, not sure how good it is though… Can always get a Strapcode if it's dodgey.

    • the steel band is a real sweetener over $100+ on it's own as it's a factory band, not aftermarket.

      • Honestly (some of) the aftermarket bracelets are better quality, Seiko's budget metal bands are a bit crap.

      • A Strapcode or Uncle Seiko bracelet is superior with a better clasp.

I don't mind the Turtle bracelet and wouldn't upgrade, but there is no taper - 22mm to the clasp. Clasp is average.

    • +2

You could get a waffle strap or a tropic strap from Uncle Seiko, but they're a bit pricey at US$39 + Shipping. Looks cool on a turtle.

If you want the tropic strap for less, there's one for US$18 + Shipping at cheapestnatostraps. The tropic straps between the two companies are pretty much the same apart for the material.
I just use an Eulit perlon for my turtle instead of rubber because perlon looks cooler.

      • Thanks very much kind stranger. I shall have a look :) I am a fan of waffles…

      • Just make sure the UncleSeiko waffle strap is the new V2 with the improved rubber formula. A few complaints about the V1 being stiff on the watch forums.

  • +1

Get SPB051J under $1K and I'll spring into drive.

  • Does any fellow ozbargainers know good battery change places for citizen in melb?

  • +1

    bloody good prices right?

    • +4

      Bloody oath mate.

  • Seems the Seiko Auto Prospex Turtle is sold out, i was about just about to buy one :<.

    • Christ alive, me too. Got stuck with work.

  • The SRP775 is a great piece, currently wearing mine! The only thing to "watch" out for with these are the miss aligned chapter rings. It appears that this is a bigger issue with the K variant compared to the J's.

    • Seiko alignment is a lucky dip! My SRP775 is perfectly aligned and runs +2 sec a day - rediculous.

      My SKX is perfect too.

  • Very good price on the Turtle. I paid about that last year for a 779 grey import.

  • +2

That turtle was watch deal of the year.

  • Great prices. Was looking at the Citizen but like this model better:

    https://www.starbuy.com.au/citizen-eco-drive-mens-200m-diver…

Guess will wait for this one to go on sale!

    • i am sold!

    • +2

doubt it, don't have to worry about charging, and you can casually look at a watch while you do something, looking at a phone is rude as hell, means you think that are more important people to deal with than the person you are with.

Also hard to take a phone to beach and swimming, watch is easy.

Smart watches some people love me, some people hate them, I hate them as they need to be charged too often, only appealing smart watch so far is apple watch gen 3 because it has gsm for voice and text and is waterproof enough for swimming ….at $500+ for stainless model.

Won't be soon that analog display watches are replaced, they said that in the 70's when the first digital (LED) watches came out.

    • They appear to be going down the same path as turntables, for similar reasons. I love my L.G. Urbane, but doubt if I'll be leaving it to my children as a legacy item, and my lowly 1/3 of its price Citizen has it utterly beaten for sheer class.

    • +4

      What absolute trash.

People who purchase time pieces are the type who enjoys works of art. Watches aren't going anywhere.

    • +1

Looks like you are going down the path of VCR, Walkman etc.

      Welcome to OzBlivion!

  • Hey watchnerd, what's the accuracy like on the turtle? I've read the Seiko automatics can vary a lot. What should I reasonably expect if I bought one and can accuracy be improved?

    • +1

Usually around -20 to +20 seconds/day. But in reality it will more likely be in the -10 to +10 range. I have the Seiko Turtle posted and it runs ~2sec/day which is very good (and lucky).

      • Have you had your turtle serviced or regulated since you've owned it? How long have you had it for and have you noticed any change in accuracy over time? Which model turtle do you own? Sorry for all the questions, im keen to buy one but accuracy is something im concerned about

        • To an extent it's luck of the draw because any watch with this movement will have the same advertised time specs.

I've had mine for over a year and wear it as part of a rotation. I've done nothing to it except wear the movement in at the start. At night I place it face up and the time change is negligible. Mine is very stable. It's completely stock and unmolested

        • +1

accuracy is something im concerned about

Probably best to buy a quartz watch then. Consider a Citizen Eco-Drive.

  • +1

how convenient, my watch strap just broke….

  • I saw this exact watch today at myer and it was on sale for $599 =/

    • i loved the price but personally have never found black and gold to be timeless on diver watches , especially fake gold ….. though it is a popular colour combination in some cultures.

    • RRP is $750. So $599 on sale is about right.

  • +2

I bought my citizen ecodrive in 2010 and it's still going fine. No maintenance.

    • +1

      Nice. Which model?

      • This one.

        https://goo.gl/images/ZYkgix

The black paint has worn a bit though. For what it cost, I couldn't have asked more from it. It's come out to about $30/year of ownership now :p

        • The Nighthawk is on my dream list. The A-T version is especially appealing.
Congrats on the run you've had with this beauty!

        • @MathNerd: Haha that's…a bit like having a corolla on your dream list. Very achievable!

  • +1

Great prices OP. That Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster Blue BN0191-80L is currently $599.00 at Myer.

  • A long shot, but if anyone who was lucky enough to snap up one of the Turtles is having second thoughts, please DM me!

  • Anyone received their turtle yet? Been almost a week since order, never happened from starbuy before.

    • +2

Hi there. All orders have been shipped. Could you please send us your order number so we can chase this up for you.
      Thanks

    • I cannot believe my package got stolen on its way and Starbuy cannot replace my order since the model was completely sold out. I've been eyeing for the turtle for years and already bought a strap for it thinking i finally got mine. I'm so devastated.

Anyone doesn't want theirs willing to sell it to me in sydney? So sad!!!
