This is a great screen reader with OCR. You select an area on the screen which contains text (even if it is on an image) and it translates it into text and places it on your clipboard. I use it for error messages etc so I can easily search for solutions on the web.

Beware of all the nagware that this installs on your computer…
Are you stating a fact or just being JV ?
I installed this a couple of weeks ago from sharewareonsale. No nagware seen.
Works very well.
Thanks OP.. Good find!
Steer clear of these nagwares which aim is to collect your private info.
You must install it within a period which means anything happens to your computer like reinstalling or loading a saved backup and you lost the program license.
No free updates means the program will harass you everyday with pop ups asking to update and once you do it (by mistake) you loose the free (scam) license!Yeah I really wish OzB would ban this SharewareOnSale site.
This type of file can harm your computer. Do you want to keep SharewareOnSale_Giveaway_ABBYY_Screenshot_Reader_hub.exe anyway?
Well, Do I?
It's an executable, most browsers will pop up a similar warning when you try and download one.
Just grab the original software from ABBYY direct site (must be version 9). Should work fine with serial provided by SharewareOnSale. The SharwareOnSale version may contain other apps within the installer hence I only ever grab the vendors original copy (where ever possible).
In my experience the serial key supplied by Sharewareonsale only works with the installer that they give you.
All the stuff I have grabbed from SharewareOnSale works fine with original installers and basing it on approx 10+ apps I have grabbed to date. No reason it shouldn't work as long as you have the same version being offered. In this case version 9. The serials are provided by ABBYY in the hope that people will upgrade and pay for the latest version.
This program does not come with the serial number. It activates automatically when you install it from SharewareOnSale.
Interesting post Borg, must try. Thanks.
….should have added, thaks OP. I actually grabbed this as a discounted ver 11 from Bits du Joeur earlier this year. While it can't grab everything it is extremely handy to have esp if your typing skills are poor, things that are handy (IN VER 11 NO IDEA RE 9) - like an image editor, you can crop the screenshot to reduce confusing areas, ignore unwanted etc. Has overseas language support in mine (4 languages, but I have a feeling there may have been more to choose from on install??). At $0 it is a no brainer esp if borg's method works.
To be honest, I find "Greenshot" which is a free screenshot tool optimized for productivity"…….it's my daily go to for all things Screen Capture related. Its open source and has lots of bells and whistles. OK, it doesn't have OCR like ABBYY but never require myself. Worth a bash for those that like to capture things regularly.
URL: https://getgreenshot.orgFor a simple to use one, free and already installed in your system, use the Snipping Tool.
Snipping Tool is only for making a snapshot. It doesn't translate text on the image into text.
@bob19: My suggestion is an alternative to the above Greenshot also Snipping Tool has more functions but I believe you're not interested.
Warning: When you download ABBYY program using SharewareOnSale hub, make sure you unclick SharewareOnSale Updater. Otherwise it will be also installed.
Expired? Worked for me… No serial code to activate?
