  • Great deal but it's $11.95 for three months from MS.

    • Only for new or inactive members.

  • Or trade in a game that has over $5 value at EB games to receive a bonus $15

Who is providing the bonus credit code?

Because I recently bought the 3 months gold from Microsoft which included a bonus 3 months free code to be emailed a week or so later. But I didn't get the email and after multiple chats and emails with Microsoft they still refuse to honour the deal. I have screenshots of it but they won't cough up. I don't even understand their excuses why not.

A thread here somewhere shows others had the same problem, some got their codes after a fight, others didn't.

    • Yeah I faced some similar difficulties with the bonus 3 month code from Microsoft.

First phone call, I spoke to some miserable dragon that was obviously having a bad day.

I then tried the live-chat which yielded a successful result.

Funnily enough, a week later I got the bonus 3 month code emailed to me.

So all in all, after turning on auto-renewals here and there to get bonus months, I got 11 months for the price of 1.

Back to your first question… I'm afraid I don't know who is providing the bonus credit, sorry.

      • Sorry… 11 months for the price of 3.

    • Yep, avoid Microsoft offers, only by the 3rd chat I got hold of a supervisor and he added 3 months on to my account. I don’t know why Microsoft makes it so hard.

  • Is my maths out? we frequently buy this as $55 for a whole year right in the specials?

How is 3 months for $30 ($120 whole year) actually a good deal? Even with the $15 credit?

Just genuinely asking as quite a few are saying this is a good deal so I must be missing something….

    • I guess a lot of those deals are for new/inactive members.

      • You mean the $55? No, they frequently pop up here at OzBargain from overseas merchants as pre-paid cards. So far they've all worked and given me no trouble.

I don't understand why we have to pay $80 ish here in Australia for them, but so it is with a lot of gear I guess.

  • Microsoft refused to nonour the deal for me even after I advised I would lodge a credit card charge back with my bank.

So I submitted to my bank a screenshot of the deal and a sample of the Microsoft emails with their refusal to supply the code and just got a letter back advising they've taken the funds back from Microsoft and credited me.

Justice prevailed but what a hassle.
