The price on the website is AU $99.75 but if you check out in British Pound it should come to approx AU $96.08 delivered if using an appropriate credit/debit card without fees. (eg. 28 Deg, Citibank). Credit to @CheapCoffee from previous deal

This watch was made popular after the Hodinkee article. It has been sold out at many stores for a while.

While the model number is the same (SNKL23K1) as the one in the review it doesn't appear to have the same dial.

I found it on eBay for US$80.00 + US$8.00 GST - US$4.00 PENNY5 = US$84.00 shipped (~AU$114.50)

  It's the same model, just the photos aren't very good. You can see the tuxedo stripes when you use the magnifier

  I purchased that exact one last night with this deal. Came out to about $107 with PayPal conversion rates.
  
  In regards to this product, I had the same concern as you so emailed Skywatches and their response below is:

    That response is wrong. There is no "Made in Japan" on either dial. The movement is made in Malaysia, according to the hodinkee link you've given

      @The Vat: Different watch. I found that site too. It looks like if the model number ends in K or K1 it's not made in Japan. If you look at the Hodinkee link given in the description above, it is Malaysian, hence no made in Japan on it.     Oh, I see now, the skywatch email response is correct. The K1 is made in Malaysia, the J1 is made in Japan.

      It's best not to believe everything you read when it comes to watches and where they are made.
      Just because it says "Made in Japan" doesn't really mean that it's made there.

I don't doubt the legitimacy of this watch, but I can't find any information, or even reference to it's existence on a seiko site.

There are some reasonable (it seems) prices here https://www.downunderwatches.com/shop/seiko/seiko-seiko-5/ for Japan made models - $125. Make sure it says "Made in Japan" in the description, some aren't. It seems those that have model numbers with J as last or 2nd last number are Japanese. It looks like free delivery. They say they don't add gst, although I went through to Paypal to see, and it was still the advertised price.

It's funny how certain models tend to catch on. Before that Hodinkee article the SNKL23K1 was just another Seiko 5.

Like I said it's just another Seiko 5. It was under 100aud when it was in production. Now they go for double or triple the price.

      I'm flat out until Saturday, so if you can wait until then, I can give you several options.
      
      Tools are cheap. Ali/ebay will be sufficient and very cheap, much less than $30.
      
      You can get a decent strap for $50 though, it's just much harder to window shop without Amazon US.
