Australian grown pomegranate selling for $2.50 each at Coles. Hasn't been this cheap in over a year according to PriceHipster.

I'm surprised, considering how easily they grow in my backyard without fertiliser or pest control etc.
Do they really? Might look into growing some.
They're fairly resilient and pest-free unless you're in a fruit fly area, then I wouldn't bother.
Same with guava, easy to grow but fruit fly love them.
I'm in Perth, similar climate to California.
The medflies ( Mediterranean fruit fly) are bad lately, but did not bother the pomegranates.
Growing citrus has become very difficult.
It may have been luck with the time of fruiting.

Meh, I grow my own. Average weight about 600 grams each. Ive had them as big as 800 grams. The supermarket ones are no where near that size.
