Ever so slightly cheaper than this deal by 0.29197%, ignoring the AMEX component. Not that I'd seek to compare myself to TA… but you know, this is cheaper :)

Finishes July 12. Doesn't seem to stack with any other discount codes (I tried a few).

Why 8GB of non upgradable RAM in >2k laptop

    • Seems to be a common theme on these ultrabooks. And you can't even add it as an option.

    • That's frustrating. If you want the same specs with 16Gb RAM this is the cheapest way I can find:

      1. click https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-x/Th…?
      2. Change processor to i7-8550u
      3. Change RAM to 16gb

      = $2,224.01

Only storage option with this config is the 256GB Solid State Drive M.2 PCIe 3x4 OPAL2.

Yeah. Macbooks you can kind of understand because they run mac osx and are optimized well but with windows laptops it makes no sense.

      • +1

A Windows-based computer does OK with 4GB of RAM, let alone 8GB. You would prefer having more than 8GB not because of the OS's optimisation but because of programs you'll use and for future-proofing.

  • Just took delivery of this laptop. Pretty amazing laptop with great key travel. One hugely annoying feature as that the fn and ctrl keys have been swapped. Which idiot though of that. Ctrl is such as commonly used key to.

I'm using x1 carbon. The FN key is not a problem at all. You can swap these two keys functions in bios or via Lenovo's keyboard driver (in the control panel once installed )

This was bloody annoying and so stupid. But there is an easy fix and I've swapped mine, you can do it in the BIOS or using the "Lenovo Vantage" software.

Open Lenovo Vantage -> Hardware Settings -> Input -> "Fn Key and Ctrl Key Swap"
      set to "ON"

      enjoy

    • In their defence, that keyboard layout has been that way on thinkpads for 25 years since their first Intel i386 laptop.
To change it now would be "swapping it", a huge number of their client base are people who have been using it this way that whole time, there would be riots if they changed it…

  • Just got this new laptop last week from previous deal and the lenovo staff was kind enough to refund $150 deal instead of Amex deal(not eligible because of shipping time). The sound system is crap. Not loud enough and note there is ' a crackling sound'whe you turn the volume up to 80-100%. Pretty annoying with this 2K worth laptop. Now using with Bose soundlink mini speaker ll. Dun want to send back away as already waited a few weeks to get it.

Can't say I've ever bought a laptop for its speakers. Don't you use headphones with it?

      • My anxiety forbids me from using speakers anywhere in anything.

  • Price is now $2399?

    • Yep, looks like it's gone.

You can still get the system for $2099 by swapping the processor in this deal for the i7-8550u

If you want the system I'd say it's well worth using the online chat to see if you can get this for the original price (or lower, because you'll miss out on cash rewards using online chat)
