You could get the modem from the good guys ebay sale. Usually $159, with the 20% off and 1% cashback, works out to be $125.61. Vivid offer it for $199
Possibly worth noting that it's "Unlimited throttled 4G data" for anyone who is unaware

Good service though, I had it for 9 months until nbn came through.
There are a heap of modems available cheaply on gumtree.

Throttling to 12mbps is a deal breaker for me. Basically the same as ADSL. I'm going to get rid of my ADSL soon and get Optus 4g at 25mbps.
I’be been with vivid for the last 3 months because my adsl connection was slow and dies whenever it rains. This is my solution till the Nbn gets to my suburb. We can take it camping. I’m a huge fan and glad I found this interum solution. It slows down rarely at peak times but it’s reliable
Bought a second hand modem off ebay, went to activate it with a referral code, it would not accept activation, said that a referral code can only be used once, which was done by the previous owner, so rang them and they confirmed that a free month is only available with a new modem which is activated for the first time, wish i'd known this earlier, i'll be putting it on gumtree.
$90 a month now actually. $89 has been grandfathered.
