Starlink Standard Satellite Internet Kit $349 (Regional Areas Only, Residential Plans from $99) + $34 Delivery @ Starlink

10130

Was on Starlink site today and noticed Standard Kit on special!

Looks to be Regional Areas Only due to "congestion" charge within Metro Areas - Tested for VIC and NSW Metro Addresses. Regional Appears to be fine and no additional charge.

The Generation 3 Standard Starlink Kit is on Sale via Starlink (at the moment). Highly likely that being Starlink have done the Sale, all retailers like JB, Harvey Norman, Officeworks and Bunnings will most likely lower their prices (usually within 24 hours).

This is more suited for homes and businesses with fixed locations.

Speed Tests of Standard Kit can be found here including Latency - This is on a Residential Plan (not Residential Lite).

Two Residential Plan Option:

  • Residential - Our most popular plan for typical residential customers. Unlimited data.
  • Residential Lite - An affordable option for smaller households and lower internet usage. Unlimited deprioritized data. Speeds may be lower than our Residential service at peak hours.

Referrals will only issue credits to Standard Plan (Residential) and Mobile Regional (Roam) subscriptions. Kits purchased from a retailer or reseller are not eligible for the referral program. No credit will be given even if a referral link was used during activation.

You don't see people loud & proud protesting against companies locally dodging tax. I haven't a campaign to give up your Kayo, don't pay for NewsCorp news, limit your flying, don't use don't order Dominos. But that would actually affect keyboard warriors & we can't have that.

@jv: you link to an article

Tesla Paid Zero Federal Income Tax in 2024, Despite $2.3 Billion in Income

That's an issue with a sister company not paying US tax, which has zero effect on you. But you're a Binge subscriber supporting an entity that pays $0 corporate tax, .which does effect you. Even more curious X pays NewsCorp money as part of the media bargaining code..So a company You financially support not only plays zero tax in Australia but then has coerced the government to make other companies pay it tax.

and I'll go even worse that the amount of tax that Google, Microsoft X and other such companies is roughly the same amount they pay in the media bargaining code..I.e..rather the paying tax to the govt to spend (wisely or not) one the Australian people, some corporations are just handing it over to tax-dodging media companies. Mmmm but you don't complain about that.

                  • @M00Cow: I don't watch Skynews, it's as bad as the ABC.

Don't you see the irony with what he is doing for Trump

What is he doing exactly? Identifying taxpayer funded waste? Helping to save astronauts? Imagine how crazy you have to be you are complaining about greater transparency and efficiency in government.

      • Left out Rio Tinto and BHP

        • well I did leave out heaps, but at least unlike NewsCorp they actually pay some corporate tax in Oz.

it was a fraction of the companies that pay $0 corporate tax in Oz. Just showing the hypocrisy of those asking to boycott Starlink due to its sister company paying no tax. if you think he's a douchebag, that's fair enough… although that should also extend to News Corp, Facebook, Hancock Prospecting, 9 Entertainment, Harvey Norman (oh wait that already happens), Amazon, etc

          • +1

@M00Cow: News Corp's operations in Australia have paid just $8 million in tax since 2015, despite billions of dollars in revenue.

      • how about local corporate tax dodgers

Why do you think that YOU get to decide how much tax someone else pays?

        • i don't. Although I earn less then 10,000th of the income, but pay $40,000 more…i probably deserve some input.

They have reached their satellite capacity and cannot support any new users in those areas. The fact the Liberals are touting this as a replacement for the NBN is insane.

      • Reached satellite capacity?

I see. I'll have to read up more about this.

        • +3

          Reached satellite capacity?

In those areas, yes. When they release new Satelitte version (like V3 via Starship), they will be able to have more capacity in some of the areas. Its because people in Metro have gone Starlink because the NBN is so crap.

I am in a FTTP upgrade area and there are still heaps of people going to Starlink.

      • the Liberals are touting this as a replacement for the NBN is insane.

Well, it is a practical replacement for SkyMuster, but only for people living in remote areas. If it's being touted as anything else, that's a lie that they're hoping people won't see through.

        • +1

Well, it is a practical replacement for SkyMuster, but only for people living in remote areas

          Which is exactly the claim.

If it's being touted as anything else

It isn't. This is why the phrase #Fake News got invented.

    • +3

This is the problem with satellite internet - it's designed for maybe 10 customers per square kilometre. Put up 10x more satellites, then in theory you get 100 customers per square kilometre, so even then it's never going to be usable for everyone in an urbanised area.

And no, 10x more satellites won't work, because there's only so many radio frequencies that you can use to communicate with the satellites, not enough.
