Well, isn't that just typical. Just got one from Kogan with their 10% off deal a few days ago. Paid $524 for the V8 Animal.

    Hasn't arrived yet. Can't wait!

Ònce you go Dyson you never go Vax!

    • These anti-Vaxers are everywhere!

  • Arghhhhh just bought the V10 Absolute with my eBay 10% off code. Seething!

You can cancel it if they haven't dispatched.. Call store they can help.
I did ordered something by mistake while testing paypal issue with PayPal support. Then called OW/TGG( don't remember which store) and they cancelled the order straightaway :) try ur luck

      • Thanks mate for the advice. Unfortunately did click and collect already so I think I have to suck it up on this one :( but it's an awesome vacuum. Used it 3 times already!

        • Absolutes a better model anyway, so not all bad news.

  • Need to wait till 10am before ordering?

  • Got the V6 in previous deal mentioned a few day ago — Great machine with lots of attachments —- Good for small areas and daily quick vacuums if you have a pet and dont want to get out the big cord machine every time — I brought the ALDI one and the suction was very weak so returned and tried these and really good

    • I heard Dyson are single-handedly putting Godfreys out of business.

  • My V8 Animal died on the weekend after about a weeks worth of use. Stopped working halfway through a vacuum, I bought it in the last 20% off TGG Ebay sale.

The symptoms if anyone is interested:
    * I was getting electric shocks from the charging port just prior to its death (not sure if this contributed, but I hadn't noticed it previously).
    * The V8 was nearing the "full" level in contents, but still had room to go.
    * When the V8 switched off, the battery appeared to be in a charging state, the 3rd battery LED was solid on and the second was flashing. No flashing red lights at all
    * V8 would not switch on if I pulled the trigger.
    * Removing the battery didn't help.
    * I put it on charge, it did charge, went to full and the LED never came back on.

    Dead.

Took it back to TGG yesterday, they're waiting for more stock to arrive this week to give me a new one.

Dyson have a 2 years warranty, I extended it instore yesterday with TGG's extended warranty.

After all that - I'm still happy with the unit, they're bloody great, picks up loads of hair from the carpet. It seems I got a lemon.

Your issue #1 regarding the static shocks is a very common problem to all Dyson V6/V8 and I imagine V10 units. At the end of the day it's simply a design flaw that exposes the metal socket to your hands, which allows built-up static energy to shock you. Dyson's official response is to moisturise your hands and then wipe the unit with a dryer sheet and it should get rid of the static charge, which it sadly doesn't.

I found it simpler to just use a rubber/latex gardening glove whenever I use mine and the problem is solved. Also note that this will happen 90% of the time during summer but during winter it'll go away. Or, if you're like me and have lots of fluffy rugs or a really fluffy dog, this problem will persist all year long.

      • Yeah I read that many others are experiencing the same thing with the electric shocks, I'll try the rubber glove! Cheers :)

  • Great price, thanks OP. Going to replace my $80 black and decker stick vacuum which is reeeaaally terrible.

My V6 absolute died as well after about a week of use. Had to pay to get the battery changed unfortunately as the vac was a gift for friends overseas and the warranty doesn't transfer. Working fine after that though

    Grabbed the V10. Thanks op!

Huh I thought I saw $599 for the V8 base price, but now it is $799.00…?

    • Price for v8 bumped to $799. please update the title to reflect the updated price.

    • Yeah, far out.

I'm positive it was $599 moments ago

      • Effing hell. I was at the checkout and it kicked me out

      • Arghh! I missed it damnn :(((

      • It was! Had it in cart as well, missed out.

This is the price at 5:38pm yesterday for the V8.

        They are the BAD Guys!

  • How does this compare to the lg cordzero?

  • Is it worth the extra $250ish to go for the V10 over the V8 or not?

    • It is only $80 difference now, thanks to the price rise on the V8 Animal.

    • I recommend going in to store and try holding it, V10 is a bit on the heavy side due to the handle placement.
I think it's not as center-ly balanced as V8. However, the good thing is, you get more run time & powerful suction.

    • Get what you can afford. We didn't want to go over $500 for a vacuum so we got the best we could get at that price. Ended up going $20+ over for the V8 though.

Its a bloody joke that they jump the price on the V8

    • Demand and supply, I take it. The V7 and V8 are their most popular vacuums.

    • I was gonna buy it for my mum..
Now she gonna have to wait a bit longer lol

This new samsung vacuum stick seems to do better than the v8 (suction seems to be the same as v10) and removable battery, bin seems easier to manage than my v6. I saw this in jb and the materials used are much more sturdy and not flimsy as my v6.

Anyone have any inputs on this?

  • Decent price. But still needs a removable battery. Also battery time isn’t at all better on max still. It’s all marketing hype 60 minutes. Pft.

    • For what it’s worth, I’ve had a number of these Dyson vacuums, and you very rarely next to use the max setting. I’ve got a black dog that sheds like crazy, so the amount of vacuuming I need to do is prodigious. I’ve used max setting maybe 3x in the entire time I’ve owned these.

I also don’t spend nearly as much time vacuuming with these compared to others I’ve owned. When I first got my V6, I hadn’t vacuumed in 2 months and the carpet was nearing the shade of my dog. It would have taken me hours with the vacuum I was replacing, but with the V6 I did the living room, dining room, lobby, kitchen and stairs on one charge. After the recharge I did the bedrooms, and from then on I did the entire house on a single charge. You probably won’t need as large a battery as you expect.

      • 2 months without vacuuming?

        • I had a couple of major leaks over the course of 6 months that resulted in all kinds of damage, and decided just to replace all my homes plumbing in one go. It resulted in holes being cut through walls in half the rooms of my house and a whole lot of work being done over a 2 month period. Vacuuming regularly became a complete waste of time, until they were done. Not that any of that really matters at all to my recommendation of the Dyson.

  • Wait for $599 V10 absolute deal

  • so why was the V8 animal from good guys do cheap 2 weeks ago?
