    This deal sucks.

There. Got it out of the way.

Why are these things so expensive? Is it the branding? How long do they last battery wise. Can you actually vacuum a whole 150sq home om 1 session?

    • +5

It won't on Max mode but will on minimum settings.

Most of the time spend on corded vacuuming is actually cable management.

Expensive because of branding but overall decent product. I have been using the Dyson Sticks since D58 and just hand down the older generations to my office. No perceptible difference between each update save battery life.

      • +6

Most of the time spend on corded vacuuming is actually cable management.

I just vacuumed 6 rooms and a hallway and apart from plugging in at the start and unplugging it at the end didn't touch the cable once during the vacuuming.

        • +13

Did you vacuum a house for ants?

        • @popcornready:

I'm sure there are some ants in it. Also 4 people and a dog and cat.

        • +2

So you didn't vacuum underneath the cable at all….

        • @lainey13:

The cable generally is behind me powering the vacuum. If it's not I don't need to do cable management to move it 10cm.

    • +12

Thing is, with portable vacuums you are suppose to vacuum more often because it is convenient to. So you shouldn't be doing the whole house in 1 session.

      • +2

I use it with a robot vacuum and air purifiers. Bought them for the lols but honestly, dust no longer noticeable even though I do not dust over 6 months.

    • Why are these things so expensive? Is it the branding?

      Branding, marketing and exclusivity.

How long do they last battery wise

About 10 minutes on maximum and 60 on minimum.

    • +1

Agree with you. Expensive and the battery doesn’t last or hold charge close to two years of use

Our V6 only got 10-12 mins run time

      • Yep agreed, I've had my v6 for almost two years now and definitely starting to struggle to do the whole house in one charge (before it was always fine). Anyway Dyson sells spare batteries for $80 so I reckon in another 6-12 months, it'll be worthwhile to grab one (everything else works great so don't think it's worth upgrading vac atm)

    • +1

Because no one has matched their performance in this segment
They can charge what ever they want.

    • I’ve got an old Dyson V4 and I can vacuum my home (3 b/room, 2 l/room, stairs) no worries.

I didn’t think that would be the case. So I’m pleasantly surprised.

      Hope this helps.

Any deals on the v10 Absolute +?

    • +1

you will be hard pressed. I work for another retailer and we were told by our dyson rep that no promos would be on the v10 abs+ for at least the first year. only chance will be a all inclusive promo code with limited exclusions

      • only chance will be a all inclusive promo code with limited exclusions

Yea, that's what we gotta hope for. There have previously been at least 3 occasions when the V10 Absolute Plus went on sale due to a eBay promo code.

      • I got 2 v10 absolute+ recently for $799 each delivered from bing lee

    • +1

I really wanted the absolute over the animal so got Harvey Norman to do it for $900 then used 2x Amex cards from the recent deal (spend $350 to get $50 back) to bring it down to $800.

  • I miss cables.

    • +2

Where will the protons live now?

Life isn't as positive as it is with cables

  • +2

Was looking for one of these as the V6 stopped working well. Turns out it was the simplest fix. If anyone else experiences issues with their older stick vacs, ensure the metal contact points are free of dust and debris.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I grabbed one yesterday and I’m amazed at how much extra dust this thing has picked up that my 3 year old Corded Dyson has missed

    • Cheers Mate :)

    • +1

Did your old Dyson have a spinning brush head?

      • No it doesn't, I'd say that feature is one of the reasons the V10 works so well.

  • Is this cheapest price ever for this model?
Not sure to buy this now or wait closer til 30 June

    • +1

I think so. Might as well buy this now in case you end up waiting for another sale that might not come around till a very long time.

  • They really need to make a corded version of this.

    • +1

They really need to make the batteries detachable, as in the power tools.

      • They deliberately don’t do it so you have to replace the unit just like Apple. Except they can’ bet sued for misleading. They do say battery deteriorate over time, but on the other hand non replaceable which is bull crap

        • The battery pack can be replaced. It's just two screws. You make it sound like it's not possible.

  • +1

My DC 59 Animal broke after 3 years. Dyson won't cover it. I realy expected it to last for more than that. I'm finding it hard to justify spending big money again on Dyson thinking it will break in 3 years.

    • The warranty is 2 years but did they give you a quote to fix?

      • They simply asked me to buy new motorhead

  • +1

    Bought. Thanks

  • Got the V10 Absolute from Bing Lee ebay for $800. It's expensive but I don't regret a cent - it's incredible. Far better than the V6 and my corded vac.

    • Just wait til two years later, battery won’t last long for a good run

      • Batteries are replaceable.

  • +1

    Is absolute worth the extra

    • +1

Bought the absolute+ and to be honest I'm not sure the value is there. A few extra tools and that's about it, I wanted the flexible extension to clean plantation shutters and it does that well but for $100+/- not sure its worth it if you didnt have a specific need for one of the included accessories.

  • its that time when investing in something in quality is worth it.
I paid the same on the Bing Lee deal, awesome vac. Never look back. Light, quieter than the v6 model. Does an excellent job. 25sq home in a single charge. Using max power on carpet and minimum on floor boards, Plus vac couches and chairs. (cat hair) Also handy for car interior.

  • don't buy this hype up vacuum, you'll be disappointed. i owned the v6 n v8 and regret buying them.

    • What made you regret it?

Had the V6 for nearly 3 years and it has been fine (with the exception of the motorhead failing to spin, which was an easy fix)

  • Not sure about dropping $700+ on a vaccum but we had our v6 for 3+ years now, use it daily and its still going strong.

    • The V10 makes the V6 look like a toy, I can't believe how much better it is. The V10 can raise the pile of our carpet rather than simply vacuuming over it, the amount of additional fine dust it pulls is amazing.

  • just got the v10 absolute.. from qantas store 30%off 100k points, better than spending $800-900 considering we never travel because of 3 young kids

  • The LG CordZero won me over with its swappable battery.

  • Definitely pricey but it is a great vacuum. We had a DC59 Animal before this which worked well for what we needed. Got this one for an upgrade and it is so much better than the old DC59.

  • I’d be interested to know how the LG and Samsung models compare to the Dyson V10.

  • Anyone got this with a lot of tile in their house? Other reviews seem to suggest you need the soft head that comes with the Absolute if you have a lot of tile/hardwood floors.

    • We have no carpet and find the animal perfectly good

    • I was thinking the same, but went with the V10 animal, and it seems great on low mode.
