  • Yeah. Found this yesterday, but won't send to Tas… :-(

  • Much better pricing, and in line with US after-tax prices.

Still at a 60% premium over the 55" model, however.

Some people would pay for an extra 10". ;)

      • +3

Lewd jokes aside, it's a 40% area increase (and 30% ppi decrease). Seems a bit rich to make people pay that much more when this should be the high-production model.

    • You do have to take into account production yields. The larger panels will have lower yields as there are higher chances of imperfections with panels of that size. They have said that average panel yields are approximately 85% across the range. So roughly 1.5 in every 10 OLED panels are not viable for end consumer use.

The 55" likely has higher yields than the 65" panel given the lower pixel density and smaller area. The higher cost is probably a combination of both the increased raw materials required to make a 40% larger panel but also the higher rates of binning defective panels.

A 55" panel has a higher pixel density than a 65" model. For the same resolution, pixel density goes down with increasing panel size, not up.

What I'm saying is that production should have been modelled and built around a 65" 4k panel for some time now, as the optimal viewing distance on a 55" is too poor to be a common consumer product for legitimate 4k content.

At least we can reassure ourselves that they might just stick 4 panels together when 8k comes around.

  • Shipped from Villawood.

  • This or Samsung Q9FN 65" for $5096 from JB Hi-Fi ?

Hisense 75n7, a trip to europe and a new macbook

    • The LG is easily the better choice as it is an OLED panel. The Samsung is QLED, which is just a regular LCD panel with fancy LED backlighting.

You could make an argument if the Samsung TV was cheaper, but given the LG is cheaper, it really is no contest in this case.

2018 QLED is fantastic,I think they have own pros/cons now, but deep blacks are not that better on OLED anymore…

        • The QLED definitely closes the gap that OLED created when it first came out, but still is not quite as good as OLED.

    • 100% this. It's the best 65" TV you can buy unless you want VRR functionality.

Looks like the promo code can also be applied to the 55" model.

    • I also checked it on the b7 55" model and it came down to $1936

  • Been searching for a deal for the 2017 model (OLED65C7T) but not having much luck! Should I be looking at this instead?

    • +1

Most places are sold out of the 65C7T unfortunately. I think JB and TGG have 65B7

Got the LG B7 65" from TGG for $3550 last week. Just go in and ask for lowest price. Is advertised for $3999 atm.

Went to post here but was against site rules as it was negotiated in store.

      • Cheers mate, looks like there isnt too much difference between the B7 and C7, will try my luck this weekend :)

      • Hey mate, reckon you could send a photo of the receipt?
