Looking back at past deals, 15% off is standard fare for inkstation. The coupon code is METyym where yy is the 2 digit year and m is the single digit month. From October to December it changes to METyymm. I don't know why MET185 is still working in June, but when this code expires simply use MET186 instead.

Thanks OP, Dad was looking for new ink and this was a great popup, might be a fairly long running deal but thanks for posting anyway! Saved me a bit.

  • Can anyone comment on ink quality relative to price of competitors??

I have a brother mfc-j5910dw printer that wont print black without the colours replaced.

Inkstation sells compatible ones but ebay sells even cheaper alternatives.

For example 2 blacks and 3 color from inkstation is circa $27

Yet ebay sells one listing of 20 cartridges for only $18???? Are they all the same or do you get what you pay for in terms of yield and cartridges working or ink quality being decent by paying for a company like instation that some mass generic ebay ink prices??

    • This is a late comment but just happen to stumbled on this thread while looking for inks

DO NOT but those cheap ebay cartridges. Mine cannot even print 1 page and end up ruining my printer, had to chuck it out. I bought one from ink station, and so far no problem. It starts to fade while the indicator still shows quarter remaining, so probably a bit worse than originals, but a lot cheaper

      • My printer was printing the colours and suddenly it stopped(ebay cartridges).

Just ended up my black doesnt show up in test prints. Any chance that its the ebay cartridge given it cleaned and printed clear on one test run after many tries then each further clean it got worse until it disappeared completely. I thought it was perhaps (as i only found out later after googling) that i kept rerunning the test print and self cleaning which supposedly dries and blocks printer heads.

Given it printed then surely it wasn blocked right??should i buy an ink station one to try?

        • I would worry that the head is blocked, you could try buy one from ink station for test, if it's worth the money. My printer was old and worth almost the same as the ink so decided it's not worth it

        • @djprima:

If blocked wouldnt the head not print initially?i had a dry run given it was dry before buying the ink (again i didnt know trying to print on an empty cartridge would dry out the heads inside. Now i know) and so i did a few cleans and eventually all 4 colours were mixing. I had a few spots on the test print square that were missing so reran the test print. eventually it got worse until the black and i believe blue cartridges stopped showing altogether. Could printer heads work then suddenly ink flow stops altogether?? Surely it would slowly fade or have spots missing to indicare blockage whereas both colours got better and stronger before disappearing??

Weirdly the yellow and magenta were weak and now are the only two that prominently print on test prints.

Just wondering if buying a test ink from inkstation would help?

Could i save money and buy the black ink for 6.50 than the 4 pack for 23? Can you mix the black from inkstation with colours feom ebay to see if test print works on black part of the test?then if successful buy the coloured catrisges from ink station??

Or because black mixes with some colour do i need to have all 4 ink catridges replaced at the same time incase of ink differences etc?

        • @djprima:

Is it hard to otherwise unblock??

I have a brother mfc-j5910 so it isnt too exp as bought second hand. But to buy a replacement would presumably be a hundred if not more??

Someone suggested given i print irregularly to get a laser printer. What did you do when you replaced yours??

I print non regular i.e. in my case i needed a contract printed. Otherwise odd things like boarding pass or itineraries etc. As i dont print out regular stuff off web or any work on a week to week basis. So unclogging it may from what i read be to no avail as it'll dry up in a few weeks? Laser doenst dry or use ink to clean so presumably could store the printer ina back room for months if not a yr until use?

        • @SaberX:

I'd say go for it if you think it's worth the time and money. I didn't delve into that details as mine was worth probably $29 new from deals here in ozbargain. Printers nowadays are cheaper than the original inks…

Now that you mention it, I think I might replace one of my ink tank which is almost dry, don't want to risk ruin the head

  • Coupon still works.

    Saved me $13.

    Thanks.

  • Excellent, thanks for that - save $28 on a good price already. WTG OZ bargains!

  • Thanks OP, code still worked today!

  • MET188 working today :)
