Happy Australia Day (bargain hunting) guys!

UPDATE!!!
LTS quoted from LTS's FB page:
"remember you snooze you loose . the minute they hit 26 they will start disapearing again . youll be surprised what is coming up"

Update 2:
There is still some confusion about the fans only items. This is quoted from LTS' FB page by their rep:
"just got confirmation . all fans only orders will fully checked for fan status. if not valid. order will be cancelled money refunded. As it will be outside the terms and conditions of promo for fans only. all the rest of stuff on the specials page ok for all"
This means all the items listed here will be available for everyone unless identified at the bottom of the post as a FB only item.

Update 3:
Deals will now pop off one by one by 6AM tomorrow morning. It's all over guys, grab that last couple of items and then enjoy your bargains.
Again
Happy Australia Day everyone!

    • G930/G35 for Gaming, AD700 for music.

      • Only problem I do both lol.
Still leaning slightly to the ATs since I listen to music more than game lol.

        • the G35/G930's are great for music as well though.

Its just those who are picky with their music quality would prefer the AD700's

        • Not to pop in only when someone mentions ad700s :P but as per my post in the other logitech sale thread, the g35/g930 use Dolby headphone to simulate their surround. Get a cheap Asus Xonar card for the Dolby headphone (cheapest is Xonar DG I believe) and then get the ad700s with them. Better for music (I hear stuff I've never heard before with what's on my head right now ^^) and better for positioning (same simulation tech, but done on a dedicated sound card and using better cans to do it, plus the cans are open)

That said, you'll be very slightly out of pocket assuming you get the ad700s with the DG instead of the g930.

DG (there's also staticice, but I prefer to buy from only shops with good service etc):

Ed: I think it's worth spending a bit more on something that gets used a lot. I listen to my music almost all the time I'm at the computer (which is a lot) so I've had no trouble justifying a little bit more than most on my ears ^^

its up. go go go go

    I sound like I'm playing warcraft. :o

  • Became a fan on there FB page just to see what special there gonna give out.

    • Out of stock already?….

      • Yep … in 2 minutes flat.

        • NO FREAKING WAY!!!
          DAMNIT I MISSED IT!!!
wait for em to pop up on ebay… there's already a listing for one from the last sale.
          :'(

  • +2

hmm… seems like some negs are gonna pop up soon lol

  • +7

I'll be the first to neg.
I hate this type of marketing, making people waste their time refreshing their browser hundreds of times over several hours and then to serve up 200 units (without declaring that there would be extremely low quantities available). Should be able to bill you for wasting my time, hopefully you realize that this really sucks as I've been happy with previous purchases - but this really pisses me off!

COTD style bull**t marketing with the Facebook only special.
People had been waiting for hours to get the opportunity to buy and these were gone in 2 minutes (without even a link from the "Fans Only" tab working, as the link was posted by a user).
    Very disappointing!

    • +1

Yes … implemented extremely badly. As you said, not even a link to the product on the Logitechshop Facebook page, or for that matter not even the name of the product (just a low quality image).

      • +1

I agree. Blatant marking BS just to get the Logitech shop brand out there to more people.

    • +1

200 isn't low quantity, let alone extremely low quantities.
Besides this post was mainly about the 26 specials that is available to everyone. The FB thing is a side thing and actually should be kept on FB on second thoughts.
I'm sorry that you didn't get one and dissapointed like me, but vote on the deal and not because you missed out. I still see 26 good deals still available to everyone.

Haters are gonna be haters, what can you do?

      • -1

200 is low quantity with 3000 fans and 800 comments on the post. I am voting on the deal, which this was inclusive of. The prices are more expensive than their previous sale for some items, and this type of "we'll release one per hour or whenever we feel like it" style marketing is a time waster. Just put all 26 specials up for the entire of Australia Day, and make sure that exclusive sales for social networking promotions are better organised.

        • +5

They did put up all 26 offers for the entire Australia Day, they're still valid as of now with the first one uploaded at 3pm.

And I also doubt that all 3000 fans would have bought one each, these aren't everyone's cup of tea, not to mention a fair few of them would've snapped some up at $209 a few days a go. And I do believe that the most of the 800 or so comments on the post was made by about 15 people.

        • +2

what a terrible reason to neg. your reason for neging is due to a fb only offer and your voting down a post on a forum site that had 26 fantastic offers.

200 is a pretty high quantity when you are talking about a product that was selling for 200 bucks…

clearly you missed out and your upset… fair enough.
but no need to neg vote someones post.

    • I posted it up on here as soon as I saw it as sort of an announcement to you guys that the deal had started. I'm sorry you missed out.

I thought about buying it for 1/4 of a second but I couldnt justify paying that much for earphones no matter how good they apparently are. I'm sorry you waited that long and missed out.

    • Yeah, I don't understand this kind of marketing, if you can call it that. Other comments called it a social experiment or something. It probably has something to do with human greed - we wanted something discounted, but when we miss out, its all like ARGHGH ARHGHGHGHAGH ARHGHGHG.

However, i did manage to score one (i missed out the first one by 30 seconds, as i had to reset my pw for my login).

The window of opportunity to buy was literally no more than 2 minutes, perhaps even less. Even if you were constantly refreshing it, you could still have missed out, now how annoying would that be. Happy Australia day to you LTS, not.

  • +1

    170's please! :D

    • I wouldn't hold your breath for the UE 170VIs, LTS/BC promised them 3 deals/posts ago and never came through. Always promising and never deliverying is bad business! I was planning on purchasing a few if they ever came out but I doubt I will now :(

  • -1

Any of these special has usb 3.0 port hub?

  • So that's it? There's only one Facebook Bonus item that sold out in less than 2 minute….?

    • +3

I'm not going to win this argument. Too many LTS fanbois on here. And FYI I wasn't interested and couldn't justify spending $200 on these headphones when I'm happy with my Vsonic R02's. Just think it's a crap way to promote your business and a very similar to the technique used by COTD (PS3, etc.) who have been torn into on this site. Plus if others bothered to read up to my previous post I pointed out that the Harmony and PS3 adapter combo's were cheaper than today's prices. If trying to be objective means that I'm called a sour puss for missing out then I'll cop that, but it's simply not true.

      • Would you have negged the deal had the UE10's not been released at all? Just wondering.

        • +2

Hey Livert - sorry to interrupt

I unfortunately missed out on the earphones for $200 - I am a facebook fan had been refreshing the fb thread for quite a while so I'm not the happiest of chaps right now. :) I tried sending an email to the sales team to see if I could get offered a "manual" order like some of the people in the fb thread were offered but I don't like my chances. It seems a little unfair that some were offered the earphones…not sure what the selection process was but seemed a little random.

Anyway, as mentioned below by maxixix, they're $183 at Amazon so I think I'll just order them from there and pay a little bit extra for the redirection shipping or order them from ebay.

Just thought I'd give a little feedback and unfortunately, LTS missed my sale. I think the fb only specials were drawn out too long and I'm sure a lot of people wasted time refreshing their browser all afternoon. :)

Thanks for the other specials though but I was only interested in the earphones. :)

          Cheers

        • I'm sure the LTS crew will take this as constructive feedback. Glad you found them elsewhere. I just wish they had more of the UE10's to please everyone. Appears that even reserving them for FB fans did not do much to filter the demand. Maybe it should have been priced a bit higher?

        • +1

Hmm, not sure…I have no knowledge in marketing or business so no idea what they should have done. I know this though…I definitely wished they had more UE10's! :) I was ready to buy 2 sets (if they allowed it but in the end it was a max of 1 per customer)

Anyway, with almost 3000 fans on fb, I'm not sure how many of those with be disappointed or even angry with LTS. I am disappointed but not angry as I do appreciate the very competitive pricing that LTS has.

But as hellrazorone pointed out, the "special" was borderline COTD-ish and LTS shouldn't head down that path.

        • I can only think of the following options to prevent future grief.
          - Higher pricepoint to decrease demand.
          - Higher stock volumes (not sure if they have any control over this).
          - Not releasing the deal at all as it will only attract negs from people who missed out. Will it be worth depriving everyone to avoid getting a few disappointed customers?

        • Oh I dont know either, hmmm…. maybe dont waste your FB fan time and publish the deal advance for them to decide if its worth waiting for. I guarantee many wont be driven into an impulse buy or maybe thats the whole point.

        • Why don't you ask every merchant what they have on sale in the next few days so that you don't have to waste your time? Who are you to demand to know what's going to be released?

        • I am an OzBargainer and if you cant handle my questions feel free to leave this site. Stick to your FB page. As far as asking merchants goes most decent ones do provide catalogues, tv ads, etc. and they have considerable stock. You run your little operation the way you want just dont pretend to be helpless and there isnt much you can do about it when it fires back at you.

        • Alright, first of all let it be clear that I am not a rep for LTS and my opinions may not reflect theirs. All I am trying to establish is a possible solution so that this does not happen again. Whether they take this into consideration, I don't know. From your feedback maybe my 2nd and 3rd suggestion would have been a better way to handle this.

Declaring stock volume (something they are not even obliged to do) may not have any influence on the result. COTD Catchathons are a good example. No matter how much you warn users that stocks are low and most will miss out, people will still get upset resulting in negative feedback.

I do not want LTS to leave OzBargain like COTD has after the hate they received when they tried to introduce a COTD exclusive. Once again, my opinion and not LTS.

  • +4

Its on Amazon for USD 183+ redirection shipping ($20-$40). Most of the prices are about Amazon prices. Certainly not worth loosing sleep over.

    • +2

Yes but shipping times are so much faster from LTS, and warranty will be MUCH easier to handle if bought locally.

      • +3

If the product is available for that price sure, however this is not the case. Plus I rather buy from Amazon any day and do all the time not to put up with "slavish" marketing.

        • +2

eBay has a similar price too.
I couldn't see why it was so popular that it sold out so fast.
People must get excited about 'exclusive bargains'.

Bit Confused on how to become a FB fan?

    • You "like" there page. Thats it.

  • I know a LOT of people have purchased the UE 700.

Has anyone actually used the UE700 for everyday use?
I've had horrid experience with the UE220vi (earbuds kept falling out, the paint cracking off about a few months), I'm looking to upgrade and the UE700 seems to be the best value for money.

But is the build like the UE220? Any help would be appreciated!

    • +2

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/38079#comment-364215

Bottom line - a great mid range earphone at a great price and you won't be disappointed. If you want to go to the next step up, get the TripleFi for about $180 (Amazon) + redirection shipping.

They don't have a mic for iPhone though.

      • Hm, thanks for that.
Doesn't really answer my question about the build though.

        I've been looking into Hifiman's RE0 for $89.
UE700 is $10 more but I don't know if I want to buy Logitech earphones again.

    • +1

I got the UE700 from last year's Logitech Shop sale ($135) and they are great value even at that price.
Its also my everyday pair for commuting. I chose it over the UE220 simple because they were the lowest end I'll go for sound quality.
I keep them in the case when not in use.
I wind them up lightly and in opposite direction each time after use, ie. clockwise today, anticlockwise tomorrow when I'm packing them up.
To this day, they're still as good as new except the Comply tips which is expected.
The silicon tips lasts long but the Comply tips doesn't and as I said before, its normal.
I prefer the Comply tips for complete isolation from external noise.

  • all will be finished before midday .

  • Looks like they're all gone now…

  • Thanks got the LOGITECH S715I this morning for $139. Cheers

  • I wonder if they can ship today, there must be a ton of orders in.

    • next day delivery in syd :)

      • yeah that's because they are situated in Sydney, lucky you :P, I live in Melb and I think it takes about 2-3 days to get to me, which I still consider awesome service.

  • +5

I guess in response to Livert's question, ways to improve future sales …

    • Increasing the price is a silly response. The whole point of this style of sale is to reward customers for their loyalty by occasionally providing a product with little or no markup.

    • Perhaps build a mailing list with all of your existing clients (best way of marketing is word of mouth), which allows you to send out special/sale emails (random code generator associated with each account that could only be used once) and is tied to that email (if someone passes it to a friend they miss out, as the code can't be used twice).

    • Do some research on what your customer base wants. People who vote (and the item is the sale item) get first dibs. This works better for limited quantities, weeds out those who want it opposed to those who buy it to onsell on eBay, etc.

    • Make sure before any super special is announced that you have access to more than enough stock perhaps via prior research or listing the quantity (no one expects LTS to lose money on an item, but if its a loyalty reward and you have such a large client base, as indicated by the quantities of sales, then make sure you have enough). I deliberately avoid COTD knowing that 20 PS3's isn't worth me wasting my time.

    • Don't string people along, everyones time is worth money - people want to do things other than sit on the net hitting the refresh button hundreds of times on a public holiday waiting for an item (which is random) and might not be what they want or at a price they are willing to pay.

Anyway hopefully you find this feedback useful.

  • Damn too slow. Missed out on the deal…UE700 price = awesome :(

  • TripleFi 10 Received 28th Jan.

  • Got my item today. Very quick postage.

  • I have to say "WOW". Delivery was so quick that my order is sitting at the post office waiting for pick up. Thank you guys for your excellent efficiency in delivery. Now I've got to find time to pick it up… :-)
