    The difference is warranty, you get 12 months from the retailer, and the balance from dell, but if you buy from dell directly, dell always pays for returns and replacements, while buying from a 3rd party you are now responsible for return postage to dell after the retailer warranty runs out. Learnt this the hard way.

      That's news to me. I bought a monitor a few years back off a 3rd party seller on ebay. When I needed an exchange, I contacted the seller, and they told me to just go straight to Dell, which I did, and they were happy to deal directly with me.
