and limited edition of this Toothbrush as well at the same price

was added at the same time, cheers!

    • +1

Yeah already added but that one not available online and possibly can find in store
      Thanks 😊👍

    • I have one of the limited edition ones (Got it in another sale), it's made in Germany, not China :-D

  • +1

does this one still use nicad or lithium ion batteries?

    • Would like to know this also.

Edit: Found this; "The Oral-B Genius and Pro 6000 models feature a (preferred) lithium-ion type of battery. All of the others have a NiMH one." - https://www.animated-teeth.com/electric_toothbrushes/oral-b-…

      • Not true. The 2000 and 4000 have Lithium batteries as well. If the box says single charge lasts for two weeks then they are Lithium. 7 days for NiMH.

    • I got a Pro 1000.

      NiMH battery.

  • +1

So how are these better than the classic $20 Oral Bs?
    Stronger brushing?

    • Good question. I would like to know as well.

    • More oscillations/pulsations in the newer generations. Around double at the very least. Out of all the gimmicks they have, the most important one imo is the one that lets you know if you're brushing too hard. A lot of people apply way too much pressure which ends up doing more harm than good.

      • +3

Yes, that pressure sensor is actually very helpful. When I first started using the brush with a pressure sensor it almost always lit up warning me to be more gentle. And my dentist told me the same, that I’m probably brushing too hard.

    • +1

Much better :) you will feel the difference when you try. I have a couple of $20 ones for my kids and it’s like day and night compared to this one.

      • +1

Might grab one if they’re in stock at my local BigW, thanks!
        None in Brisbane apparently.

        • The whole of Brisbane or are you talking about the CBD store?

        • +1

@montorola: nothing within 2000km of the CBD apparently. For all of the Oral-B brushes on clearance.
Nevermind, apparently the website doesn't work properly on iPhone.

      • it’s like day and night

        Er … OK.

      • This sounds like your teeth are more precious than your kids' teeth…

  • +1

    Who buys $160 toothbrushes? seriously?

    • People who think that wiggling a brush around in a certain way is superior to waggling a brush another way.

I doubt it makes any difference. Not that someone who spent $160 is likely to think this due to not wanting to feel like an idiot.

      • +5

        https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24282870

An advanced oscillating-rotating power toothbrush produced substantial, statistically superior reductions in plaque and gingivitis via multiple outcome measures compared to a new sonic toothbrush after both four weeks and 12 weeks of tooth brushing.

  • Thanks got the limited edition black with travel case and 2 heads. I have one in each bathroom and one is getting a bit weak. Pick up in Melbourne CBD.

    • +1

2 heads? In the product photo it mentions '1 brush head'.

That's why the deal for the 3000 is a better deal IMHO - comes with 3 heads, that basically covers the price difference, irrespective of the other features.

The travel case is neat though, I have one from an old one and hope the 3000 fits.

  • Thanks OP, ordered the black one with the travel case.

  • Is the 3000 worth for another $10?

    • +2

Yes, for two extra brush heads. only if you can find one though…

    • Personally I wouldn't pay extra $10.
      Mechanically they are the same.

Extra heads not really worth the extra $10.

      • You're right that 2 heads are not worth $10, but they are not often found much cheaper. Unless of course you go down the route of 'compatible' heads made by unknown sources…

        • Yeah your right, building a brush that works is something only Oral B could do properly, no one else's brushes work.

        • @Diji1: Oh, they work, sure.

I looked into it a while ago. Did you know that the better toothbrush brands go to quite some effort to make sure the tips of the bristles are rounded? Do you expect the same attention to detail of some no-name backyard operator that makes the cheap knock-offs that sell on Kogan?

It's your gums and teeth. For now I do my best to buy the original ones at the best discounted price I can find.

If you can find alternative brush heads made by a reputable manufacturer I'd be keen to give them a try.

      • It says the 3000 comes with a charging station AND a portable charger.
        Can anyone confirm?

        • It's only one portable charger, but it integrates with the plastic pieces they call 'charging station', so you can use in that configuration.

  • +1

    one step up -
    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/braun-oral-b-pro-3000-electr…
$49 down from $199 ($100 previous min proce)

  • All gone! :(

  • +2

I hope everyone is aware of the disposal instructions for their old electric toothbrushes (you did keep the instructions when you bought it, right?).
The battery needs to be removed and recycled separately to landfill. Cadmium is a heavy metal, and toxic to the environment.

    • +1

I think most are NiMh nowadays, not NiCd any more.

  • I have ordered 2 limited edition and picked them up from BigW Chermside

  • Thanks, just got the 3000.

  • Sold out it seems, but there's one under my name at Waverley Gardens - just realized I won't make it before the 6pm closing.

    • What's your name? 😂

  • Got 4 of the limited edition blacks at Browns Plains Brisbane. One regular one left. 2 X replace my wife and mine. One each for the parents.

  • Got a 3000 at Tuggeranong! There are a couple left, but it seems other people had the same idea, as the Lay-by ladies were taking a couple of online orders while I was in to pick mine up.

  • +2

    Shaver shop price matched too.

  • They have one 1000 left in stock at Big W Gungahlin and possibly one last 3000 (I bought two) at the back.

  • Got the last two 3000 at Brickworks.

  • BigW Jesmond scanned full price. Service desk said website error and went and took them off the shelf.

  • Got 3000 online pickup at Lilydale, VIc.

  • is the 3000 lithium ion?

  • great price

Will never go back to Big W, reason why they are going out of business. Bought this, received confirmation went to store and they said they don't have it and order was cancelled. No communication what so ever and money was taken out of account with a 48 hour time period given for refund. Manager said online is different to store……. so they don't honestly know if I will get a refund. I don't even know yet for sure if it was even cancelled because still haven't received any emails other than confirmation of order.

    • it happens, no need to take an oath, though i seriously doubt that you would never visit big w again, unless you will leave australia soon.

    • Don't forget to contact ACCC, A Current Affair and the bikies.

  • does 1000 or 3000 spin differently to the cheapest $20 oral b? sometimes the cheapest version makes this rusty jaw sound.

    • The 1000 or 3000 oscillates at 8,800/minute.
Anything below I think below pro500 or pro600 oscillates slower.

Mechanically, 500+ (600, 1000, 3000 etc.) are all the same oscillations and price difference are only the accessories (marketing).
The more expensive ones might come with Lithium battery as well, which might last longer than the standard NiMH battery.

Note EU regulations means no electronic device is made with NiCd these days.

Oral-B does not publish the oscillation speed in the specs, they used to many years ago.

  • +1

Definitely don't believe the Big W website though. Website said stock in my local store…not so much.

  • There's practically no stock anywhere

  • Any pink ones available?

  • Everything out of stock (1000 limited edition & 3000) except 1 Oral-B 1000 left at Merrylands as of 4pm 30/05. You won't find it on the shelf but go to the Tech section and ask someone behind the counter to check the inventory.

  • +1

Called up my local shaver shop and asked for price match, did with ease.

  • i bought a oral b pr0 1000 for $39.75

it got delivered today, however there is no safety seal sticker( i think thats what its called) on the box to show that it hasnt been opened

should i be worried for hygeine reasons? im worried that its used?

  • If anyone wants to venture out to Blacktown, NSW they still have stock on this. Manage to get myself one via the online store pickup!
