Full of salt. Just buy tinndd tomatoes and add salt and garlic. 75c.

      time ain't free.

      • That's true, but it takes almost no extra time to do what @Herodotus said and the meal is much better and cheaper. I prefer using no-added-salt tomato paste instead of (or with) tinned tomatoes, though.

        • Care to share your recipe to make the equivalent amount of one jar of sauce.

I'm assuming one tin of chopped tomatoes, but how much tomato paste/ garlic?

@docians: Honestly, I just chuck in what I feel like at the time and it always turns out great. Pasta is amazing like that. I usually buy the jar of the home brand of no-added-salt tomato paste. I buy the more expensive ones if the home brand only has the salty kind.

I fry up a heap of mince, onions, mushrooms with olive oil, then add the paste and whatever herbs/spices I want (usually not much). I sometimes add chilies. I usually add heaps of garlic. I add tinned tomatoes and sometimes a pre-made sauce (don't like Leggo's) depending on the consistency I want. Obviously tinned tomatoes make it more runny than just paste. Sometimes I add carrot. Sometimes I add Kalamata olives (only Sandhurst brand).

If I want a Bolognese sauce I add cream not long before the end of cooking.

I only buy whole egg pasta now. It's about as good as home made pasta. It's not that expensive for a 500g packet.

It's a little bit of work but pretty easy and I make a huge batch. The sauce freezes really well in portioned containers.

You prefer 75c tinned tomatoes from china or some 3rd world country? to get less salt, suport slave labour god knows what else. It's a dark place.

Over Australia tomatoes from a Australian company? Buy Australian tinned tomatoes for a few more cents if you want to make your own.

      I know what I'd prefer.

      • I think most tinned tomatoes are from Italy. Even the cheap ones. Was the case last time I looked anyway.

  • I'm not a big pasta person but this is a great deal!

Leggos is just too sweet. Try the five brothers sause or the paul newman one.

Bolognese Bacon is awesome with my chicken thighs/green beans meals.

1.5kg chicken thighs + a bottle of this and you got 5 meals in no time. Meal prep is so damn easy.
