Can someone reccomend me one with a ethernet port?

  • +1

No USB charging else would've got one

  • So….. what does this do exactly?

    • +1

USB-C hub. Plug it into a notebook and you have additional USB ports, SD card slots and can output to a HDMI display.

      • I see… thanks

      • Can u plug into phone?

        • Yes, USB A and SD slots should work, not sure what HDMI would do

        • @dfitt10: Many phones offer HDMI out via these devices as well. My S8 does for example.

        • +1

          phone is fine

      • but the laptop needs to have usb c?
        or will usb 2.0 / 3.0 do?

        • +2

          Has to be USB-C.

      • can this thing drive two screens?

      • can I dongle this with a USB-C <-> Thunderbolt 2 port adaptor and use it with the macbook pro (2015)?

  • Does it work with Mac only? Will HDMI work for PC ?

    • +1

Any computer that has USB-C port supporting hubs would work.

  • Thanks OP - have been looking for another deal on these and have just ordered one, albeit the $10 off voucher has been exhausted, so we're down to the $8 off. Still a great price - cheers.

    WARNING - No 4k 60fps

    • +1

      60hz*

      • +1

        The same thing technically?

        • +2

          Not even close.

        • +1

          @Diji1:
How is that not even close? Your eye balls are seeing 60 different frames in the space of 1 second.
It's not exactly the same but it's close enough.

        • +1

Uhhh no. 60hz is the refresh rate and 60fps is the frames per second. Heaps of monitors and TVs go much higher than 60hz.

        • +3

          @Blitzfx:

60Hz is the refresh rate of the monitor. You could have a paused video or a locked computer screen and the monitor would still be refreshing the image from the display buffer 60 times per second.

We use fps (frames per second) to refer to the source material. If you are playing a 30fps video on a 60 Hz monitor, the monitor will refresh each frame twice. Also it's possible to have a game generating 70fps. If it's being displayed on a 60Hz monitor, only 60 of those 70 frames will be displayed.

Yeah if thelastnoob just said 60fps but was corrected by Clear to mean 60Hz, that's basically the same thing to the viewer.
You don't need to explain the tech behind it but thanks anyway. I've already stated it's not exactly the same.

This very specific case of 60FPS is close.

You know what? I don't think I really care for thelastnoob anymore. I'd rather see your post make the clarification for other people than have to go through this again.

        • @Blitzfx: If they were close, we wouldn't have vsync.

        • +1

@Blitzfx: well, at 30hz, you still won't get 60 fps. It will output 60 fps, but your image is only refreshed 30 times a second, so you won't see the other 30 frames..

They are different things, but that is what he meant. It's pointless to get if you actually want to be playing things at 60 fps.

      • That's a weaselly answer. Is this adapter HDMI 2.0 compliant?

        HDMI 2.0 allows 60Hz RGB display at 3840 × 2160 (4K) and lower resolutions.
        HDMI 1.3-1.4 allows 60Hz RDB display at 2560 × 1440(1440p) and lower resolutions and 30Hz RGB at 3840 × 2160 (4K) resolution.

Good to know, thanks. Hope no 4K content creators bought it thinking it was 60Hz

  • Just checking, this doesn't have passthrough charging does it? I've got a Samsung Galaxy TabPro S that only has one USB-C port. This means I can either charge or plug something in to it, and the battery is not that good.

    • No, this version does not unfortunately.

  • +2

Why are people worrying about the price of this when they spent ~$2000 on a dongle book?

Does zapple shipping take 6 weeks or mostly eternal?

  • Could this turn my phone into a legit android gaming device on a big screen tv?

    • +1

You can do that with a hdmi to usb-c or usb mini and a BT controller.

This has pd and supports dex for Samsung…i just bought this bit not sure how good it is..may be use pull5 and make it $30 by adding something.

  • Wondering if it'll work with the Nintendo Switch?

    • The consensus last time this deal was posted was "no".

      • Cool thanks for that. Was thinking that any usb-c dock might be possible but looks like that's not the case.

  • All codes have no expired.
