Lenovo sent me another deal apologising for running out of stock early for last week's E580 deal. They are bringing back the E480 deal similar to the one earlier this month except at further $10 discount. Moreover the build has customisation option so you are able to add on optional backlit keyboard or fingerprint readers if you want them on your new ThinkPad.

So for $1075 delivered (use FLASH coupon code), you get

  • Intel Core i7-8550U Processor
  • Windows 10 Home 64
  • 14.0" FHD IPS Display
  • 8GB DDR4 Memory
  • AMD Radeon RX 550 2GB Graphics
  • 256GB M.2 Solid State Drive

Some optional extras through customisation:

  • Upgrade to 16GB (8+8) DDR4 $105
  • Backlit Keyboard $50
  • Fingerprint Reader $22
  • 3 Year On-site + Premier Support $189

Ships in 6-9 business day, or more if you customise. Check previous E480 deals on discussions of this product.

Come on Lenovo.. Give us a deal on X1 carbon before the Amex offer expires..

    • I assume it's a gaming laptop/ better performance one? I agree. I'd buy it also.

great laptop except the screen, only 49% of sRGB.

    • Also the latest BIOS patch (1.14) for this model seriously nerfs the RX550 performance (performs only 10-20% better than Intel integrated graphics).

AMD Radeon RX 550 (Laptop), Intel Core i5-8250U

AMD Radeon RX 550 (Laptop), Intel Core i5-8250U (BIOS 1.14)

  • Backlit keyboard and Finger print reader are nice extras… Weren't in E470

    • But the e470 has 16gb of RAM and a cheap extended warranty

    Waiting for a T480

Same here.. it’s also on discount but the 3 year warranty is overpriced at $442

  • if you can get this back in a few weeks when my EOFY bonus comes through, that would be awesome :D

Its hard to consider these deals when they have been on "sale" since January, maybe even earlier.

    • Yeah, but not all sales are equal. Usually the base model is on sale and they get you on the upgrades. These have the upgraded models on sale.

      • Well, $500 off the base model is still the same as $500 off the upgraded ones since the discounts are cash and not % based. Trust me, Ive been looking for a suitable laptop since December and I keep track of the sales. And here is proof. Note that I cancelled the order after realizing their marketing tactics. https://imgur.com/G5hHLdN

    • nvm, they probably have deals

  • Tried to get the E580, but was too late. Ordered an E480 (as that was what I wanted anyway) with the i5 processor just last night. Just cancelled and switched to this for $56 extra for the i7. Got the backlit keyboard option. For anyone that hasn't experienced it, in any low light situation it's so much better.

Warning: This laptop had extremely high temperatures before the bios update, and then fixed that by dramatically reducing GPU performance. Here's a quote from notebookcheck:

"Update BIOS 1.14: Lenovo reduced the performance of the Radeon RX 550 massively with the BIOS update. This improves the temperatures, but the resulting graphics performance is almost identical with the supposedly much slower iGPU version with the UHD Graphics 620. It is almost like Lenovo deactivated the dedicated GPU."

Yup, it's sort of bait and switch

  • I'm still waiting for the Thinkpad E585 with Ryzen mobile deals! Even better if we could customize a backlit keyboard on to this one :)

@scotty Much appreciated if you can get this or 580 deal back? I just missed the Dell cyber deals as well. Need a good laptop immediately and no need to be a gaming machine.

    • Deals now on Lenovo website. But they can take ages to deliver, if you need it immediately.

      • Could you provide a link please? I'm finding an $800 one with lower specs

        • I'm talking about lower spec one for chimps. If you want higher specs then you'll pay more.
