Lenovo weekend deal! It's basically a rerun of this deal from 1.5 months ago but $10 cheaper. With coupon code EOFY580 you'll get the following ThinkPad E580 for $1089 delivered:

  • Intel Core i7-8550U
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 15.6" FHD IPS
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • 256GB SSD
  • AMD Radeon RX 550 2GB
  • 2.1kg

$4 more than last E480 deal but the screen is 1.6" bigger (and about 400g heavier). If having a bigger screen + having a number pad is what you are looking for, this might be a better deal. Also note that

  • 3 Year On-site premier support is currently discounted to $189
  • Unlike the E480 deal, you can't really customise it, i.e. no option to upgrade to backlit keyboard.

Promotion expires on Monday 14 May.

Scotty, your guys using the T or E model?

    • +1

      We have a few T4x0, E4x0/E5x0 and a X1 Carbon Yoga :)

      • Thinking of getting the E model but not sure about the quality. Is it worth the extra $$ for the T model?

        • +1

For personal use — IMHO probably not unless you need the features (TB3 port for example).

For business use — the cost difference is probably minimum in bigger scheme of things. However do note that Lenovo is generally more conservative with T-series designs. For example with T480 you only can get a GeForce MX150 DGPU which is not much better than GT940MX from previous gen E470/E570.

  • Any better edumination deals?

  • +3

Would very much like backlit keyboard.

    Otherwise, great deal

  • If you buy this, then find something else worthwhile that is at least $410, you can combine with the AMEX deal and get $150 off.

  • would very much like a touch screen

      Thanks for letting us know.

  • Good deal. Wish you could upgrade to Win 10 Pro though - need it to join work domain.

I assume you can run a 2nd screen off the in-built HDMI port? Or do you require one of their external docks to do this?

    • +2

I got the e480 deal. But you can upgrade Windows to Pro through windows itself, you dont need to upgrade at purchase.
Yeah, 2nd screen with the HDMI port is fine.

  • Has an optional backlit keyboard, and optional fingerprint reader, but you can't add them :(

Also, looking at the base specs for the E580 with i5, in the silver is $849 and black $919. If you want a backlit keyboard on the silver they charge an additional $100, yet on the black model it's only $50. How does that work? They're identical laptops just the case is a different colour.

    • I just tried customizing the base model and match this i7 model plus included the backlit keyboard and finger print, itโ€™s about $400 dearer ! Definitely not worth the extra $400 for the back lit keyboard and finger print sensor !

      • I did the same thing haha what a joke!

Spewing that amex cashback deal is $1499 spend required, i'm $305 short and don't need anything else :(

    • You can order one online for around 80 AUD delivered and install it yourself, it's an easy job.

    Empty spare HDD bay?

    • +1

      Yes.

I love that this has an RX550. Happy to swap someone this laptop for last year's E470 (GTX950) + $350 cash?

    (Yeah, I'll dream on)

    • +1

      E470 only has 940MX 2GB, which quite a bit slower than GTX950M.

      • +1

        Yep, you're right actually.
Not that it makes a difference for me, running Linux with the nvidia opensource drivers, I might as well just have an Intel HD graphics chip.

  • Do I have to buy the charger too?

  • Hi Scotty, thanks for posting the deal, can you post more deals on 13 inch laptops? thank you!

    • Which one? ThinkPad X380 would be interesting as it replaced the older ThinkPad 13 which was quite a nice budget portable.

    • Don't forget to say thanks by upvoting as well.

  • it's took a month to delivery ..after order ..it's stupid

  • Not quite as good as the E570 from last year ๐Ÿ˜”

Not only was it cheaper, it had 16GB RAM and the 4 year warranty was discounted to $197. (It even had an optical drive to boot)

    • +1

Yeah, RAM prices went up since then :(
      Damn [Miners/Smartphones/Government/Vegans]

  • This has expired.

    • Glad I requested a couple sales quotes last night for it!

  • Can someone please explain me why E480 deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/376378 got much more up votes compared to this deal? Thanks in advance! :)

  • Can't get this to work anymore, so must not expire on Monday.

Edit: spoke to support, deal is definitely dead due to no more stock. They try to push you to another deal that is way worse.

  • Managed to put an order in using this code.
