  • When they say "deposit your pay" can you literally just transfer $1,000 into ING, from the account your pay normally goes into? (e.g. CBA)

Then can you transfer it back out from ING to wherever, immediately afterwards?

    • +3

      Correct

    • +1

You can't. Because you want to get the $75 and you need money to do the 5 eligible transactions. So you need to leave a bit money in that account lol.

      • +6

5, 1 cent transactions at Woolies will suffice.

        • +1

How do you do a 1 cent transaction?

          @Aussie89:
          Split payment

        • @tidie:
WOW. You sir are a true genius

        • +1

@tidie: this cashier was amused at a coke bottle transaction x 6. They're going to sign up to ing too.

      • Good point! After those, then, or leaving a small amount behind :)

  • Took weeks, finally got my $75, will transfer and close the account :-)

    • It's always taken a couple of weeks.

  • A quick question about the 5 transactions a month - does anyone know if this has to be done using the included debit card with the OE account? can the 5 transactions be achieved by having a linked? (I'm assuming you can link them?) ING Orange One/Platinum credit card instead?
I'm on the hunt for a new Savings/Transaction + Credit Card setup to switch to

    • Call them and find out! They have the best customer service via phone.

The 5 transactions apply for online purchases using OE card, but idk about the credit card.

    • From the ING Website:

from 1 March 2018, also make at least 5 card purchases using your ING debit or credit card (excluding ATM withdrawals, balance enquiries, cash advances and EFTPOS cash out only transactions).

Using your card using contactless and Apple Pay/Google Pay also can count.

Are existing ING clients ok to get this offer?

    • In most cases no you're not eligible. Specially if you're already a existing customer.

Far as I'm aware these bonus deals always have the signed terms and conditions you can read them fully here https://campaigns.ing.com.au/75bonusoffer otherwise I've put the relevant snippet below.

Maximum of one $75 bonus payment per person (this includes any payment made to an account jointly held by you). If you have previously held an Orange Everyday bank account since 1 July 2014, then you are ineligible for this offer. For eligible applicants, the $75 will be deposited into the applicant's Orange Everyday the month after you meet all applicable Eligibility Criteria. Where the eligible applicant holds the Orange Everyday account in a joint capacity, only one payment of $75 will be made to that account under the offer.

One of the best things about this card is, if you meet the 5 transaction & $1000 deposit per month, you get no international transaction fees. They are instantly rebated, and considering most cards have them at 2.5 to 3% it saves a lot. Also, they're really good with their conversion rates and don't rip you off, unlike paypal or amazon, for example.

    • Edit: Removed things apparently have changed. Becoming more and more of a disappointment.

ING has Apple Pay as well. Good bank.

    • Yes they offer both the two important ones Apple Pay and Google Pay.

I'm a bit sad to see where this is going.

Some of us have held an Orange Everyday long enough to remember when it was a fantastic account in its own right: 2% cashback on contactless purchases, free ATM withdrawals everywhere, and the best savings interest rate for the linked SM account. All of the above came without onerous card usage requirements.

These incentives rewarded loyalty and helped strengthen relationships between customers and the bank.

Not only did these benefits get scrapped/devalued/tedious to obtain, but ING are now wasting their money on literally bribing people to open accounts. How many of these will turn into life-long customers that keep coming back?

All of this is not without precedent, but eerily reminiscent of the way they butchered their Living Super product, which resulted in a mass exodus as people realised just how badly they were getting ripped off.

I agree. Get the clients locked in and then shaft them. If I had stayed with them for my super, i was looking at fees of about $4000.

The old bait and switch at its best

  • Just opened one. All set up. However, I did not get any confirmation that the BUDGET75 code was accepted.

Was this the same for everyone else?

    • I didn't either, but then about a week in, they emailed me with details confirming "how to activate your $75 cash bonus", so it should be all g!

  • What? there literally giving cashback just like that?

  • Done. Thanks OP. Can I just make 5 transaction through account. Wont get my card before 30/6/18

  • I read the T&C's and the transactions have to be made and clear by EOM. Anyone recommend the best retailers to do that through given it's a Friday and I'm guessing tomorrow's transactions won't clear tomorrow?
