Just remember there's still the Paypal transaction fee of 2.6% + $0.30 if paid via PayPal, which eBay requires you to support at checkout.

    • No they don't.

      • Can you get around it? Anytime I've listed anything for cash on pickup only, they've forced me to allow for a PayPal payment too?

        • +5

You don't have to accept paypal, but you do have to accept at least one electronic payment form, the other which happens to be very hard to signup to and is a shitty imitation of paypal.

So you have all the freedom in the world, to choose between a douche and a turd sandwich

        • +2

You have to provide a "safe payment" method, either credit/debit card and/or PayPal.

Although that's not realistic for private sellers and you would lose customers if you didn't offer PayPal.

        • +2

@outlander: nearly every one uses PayPal as does nearly everyone here, often refusing to pay if PayPal not accepted. What other safe payment options are there? No one wants to pay by bank transfer as there’s no protection should something go wrong.

        • @outlander: Please dont eat me

One account says the promo has expired already… and the other account says I'm ineligible. Oh well…

use the chat. They will fix it for you.

      • +1

Thank you, that's a good suggestion. I'm on the same boat as well and I'll certainly try this.

      • -1

        Thanks dealspider, will do!

        • Did it work out for you?

        • +1

          @BlazinPast:

Nope. No dice. The rep didn't understand what I was talking about, so I gave up.

Worked fine for me. Just remember, even if you have nothing to sell right now, or want to sell something after the promotion ends, I would recommend creating "empty" listings shortly before the promotion ends. i.e. you create a 30 day listing with all the right details, but set the price ridiculously high, for example, so that nobody bids. Then, when you're actually ready to sell, since you have a number of listings that are already up, you just edit the price/details accordingly.

    • Ah thats a great tip, thanks.

      • I have a couple of high value items I'd like to sell but never get any promos :-( I'm always buying stuff.

        • +1

You have to set your account to receive promos to get targeted offers.

    • No luck for me this time.
Maybe because I am selling 6 items at once from the last "no fee" deal?

  • Can you start listing now or tommorow the 11th?

  • +1

Thanks for this. Looks like I'm eligible and I'm working on cleaning out the shed. Perfect!

  • "Unfortunately, you can no longer sign up for this promotional offer because it has expired."

    ???

Ahhhh **** off!! I just sold something for $850 2 days ago and had to pay $92 in fees fml.

This shit always happens to me.

    • +3

      Reported to the mods.

      • Why?

        • +4

Haha because you paid lots in fees, relax it's a joke.

        • @WatchNerd:

Ah ok, thought it was cause of the swearing lol.

Hand in your OZB licence please

Ozbargainers know not to sell without a free ebay seller code which comes around every FN

      • Month, now. But yes.

    • Happened to me too when I sold a computer for $1000. Although I listed it using a free listing promo, it expired and auto-relisted (and I didn't notice). $100 or so in fees when it sold a day later. Was not happy.

Just about made a similar mistake tonight, I listed another expensive item but found this promo doesn't start until tomorrow. It was swiftly withdrawn!

I never get these "offers" - and yes my account is set to receive promos

  • +1

Just remember these guys dont allow multiples of anything here. EG you cant get this promo if you're selling 3 of one item, must be 1 item a time x 3

  • Why does it say I get 10 free listings?

    • +1

That's ebay standard "special" which means you can list 10 things for free but still have to pay final value fees. Isn't that nice that they only start charging you for listing over 10 items

  • I have the deal for 3 and 10 listings and final fees.

  • Selling shit on ebay is terrifying, hope the buyer isn't an ass and tries to claim issues 2 months after purchase or even worse.. 'never received goods'

    • You have seller protection on eBay - just make sure you send it to the address sent from eBay and use Aus Post signature on delivery for another $2.95 for peace of mind

      • Is signature on delivery required for seller protection?
I thought the shipment receipt and tracking number is sufficient?
(I also took photos of the item when at post office counter as evidence)

        • Don't think it's required but for $2.95 I guess it counters the postie chucking it in a post-box and it going missing excuse - this way the recipient has to physically go in store in most cases which they will require ID…

        • +1

          @urbancartel:

Buyers don't want to pay that much postage.

I offer all sorts of postage services, everybody picks letter post for games/dvds. Maybe 1 in 50 people pay for 500g bag with bubble wrap.

So what I do is take a video of me putting the addressed, sealed envelope in the postbox. No idea if it will save my ass as I haven't had a package go missing yet. I did get one query, and sent that guy photos and description of when/where (that was before I was taking videos), auspost then found the item (without my help) hundreds of kilometres away.

For reference with my stats, I've sold a few hundred items

PS: Never sell digital goods on ebay. You will be scammed and you're not protected.

        • thought the shipment receipt and tracking number is sufficient?

It is, but only if it shows delivered and the buyer's postcode/suburb.

Problem is that Australia Post doesn't always have that or it's not updated, so for expensive items you should get signature and insurance.

also took photos of the item when at post office counter as evidence

Waste of time and won't help you.

        • @justtoreply:

No idea if it will save my ass

          It won't.

      • I've read too many storied of what scammers have done to sell on Ebay again and keep getting these offers, lol.

eBay ALWAYS takes the buyers side, tracking numbers won't help, eBay won't be interested in seeing any video/picture proof from the seller.

There might as well be no seller protection.

        • eBay ALWAYS takes the buyers side,

No they don't, you just need to follow their terms to be protected.

The only claim you can't protect yourself from is Significantly Not as Described.

If you are selling shit then I think we can all agree that it's terrifying.

  • I didn't receive email (maybe cos I turned email subscription off) but when clicking link and going to https://www.ebay.com.au/sl/sell , it shows that it is active, and expires 20/05/2018. Does that mean I'm eligible?
