Japan 5GB Data SIM - $99 HK ($16.90 AUD) + $50 HK ($8.53) Shipping (Save $17.06) @ China Unicom

100

Go to https://www.cuniq.com/ and change your country to HK then go to this link for the sim.

I've confirmed with customer service that orders from their HK page can be shipped to Australia. Screenshot of chap with support

If you're ordering a single sim, and you don't mind using an Australian proxy instead, this deal is a whopping cent cheaper! Just beware of possible late shipping times, based on the past experiences of Dave77, altomic, maxwellian and unique452 who never received theirs as they were actually on backorder without customers being informed until 4 days later, even though altomic paid for express delivery (48 hours).

If you're paying for more than one sim, such as traveling with a partner or family then this deal will save you quite a bit!

Here's the prices below:

Total for 1: $149 HK or $25.41 AUD vs $25.40 from SimsDirect (lose a cent)
Total for 2: $248 HK or $42.29 AUD vs $50.80 from SimsDirect (save $8.51)
Total for 3: $347 HK or $59.18 AUD vs $76.20 from SimsDirect (save $17.02)
Total for 4: $447 HK or $76.34 AUD vs $101.6 from SimsDirect (save $25.26, 14 cents off buying another sim!)

  • Expensive…

Cheaper than the deal that reached the front page selling literally the exact same product, but through a proxy who is making a tidy profit.

      • If you know how to use Taobao, this kind of cards are much much cheaper…
        Example: 7 Days unlimited docomo 4g is RMB 55 (after RMB 1 discount) + RMB 60 (upto 1kg) delivery = RMB 115 Around $25.
These kind of cards are very very cheap from China……..

        • That's a great price! You should post a deal for it, there's a lot of people who'd want unlimited data instead of 5GB.

Thanks for sharing deal - just goes to show it is easy with a bit of googling to find many of these travel SIMs yourself and often at a much cheaper rate, especially when buying a couple.

No need to wait for 'deals' from Australian suppliers who are just ordering in their products from the same overseas companies anyway.

Many options for SIMS from other countries on this site also.

  • Ive been looking for a cheap SIM for South Korea. Most sites only have China and Honk Kong, Japan etc. Anyone know of a site with decent pricing where I could pick one up?

    • Just use Ebay. Honestly, its the same shit different smell.

To put it simply, say you receive one from an Australian supplier.

They buy it from the same supplier or telecom overseas but the retail supplier here will charge a much larger margain from what i've seen its like 15-20 dollars ontop.

Then you will say what about quality/service etc.

If the card doesn't work, well there goes 30-40 bucks and you ask for a refund from Ebay. (average chance of a refund)

but how is it any different if it is buying it from an aussie supplier who has the same issue.

They will refund the money but you are still stuck without a sim.

The risk of having a faulty sim is almost the same because its from the same supplier/telecom

The risk of losing money is like $20-$30 overall.

P.S there are sims where you can use all over asia.

Can confirm their delivery to Australia, bought some HK/China sims from them early this year and took about a week and a half for delivery. Activation is easy on my Google Pixel phone. Consistent 4G reception in HK/China without any fail so would assume the same for Japan.

  • 7 day expiry is the killer for me. I don't understand why it can't be same data limit but over 30 days.

If you need this long, it is better to get a pre-paid sim after you have arrived.

  • Thanks Op, bought two Japan Sim it is cheaper than the previous deal mentioned. Will bookmark the page in case we need other country travel sim for future cheers!
