        • My torrents run fine all day.

        • @sween64: with Kogan?

        • @sween64: btw thanks for the comment

        • @Bellpop: I'm with TC

        • @sween64: ok thanks

        • @sween64: OK I've signed up to TC. Fingers crossed they aren't as bad as MyRepublic and SkyMesh. I haven't had a good run lately…

    • telecube is worth the $5 more. exetel are shocking and idk about kogan but telecube are good

      • OK I've signed up to TC. Fingers crossed they aren't as bad as MyRepublic and SkyMesh. I haven't had a good run lately…

    • DONT DO KOGAN!!!!
I have been with them for all of 1 week. I am in Perth. Constant drop outs. I watch my modem and the DHCP they give out is for 1 hour. As it comes time to renew, my modem send the DHCP request, and doesn't get a reply. So no more internet.
Also it seems i cant download anything from a webpage. I speeds of of a couple of Kbps. Have tried from Microsoft updata catalouge and its ridiculous.
Went to a test site, and can download FTP fine but not HTTP. Speedtest and streaming work fine, but cant download from HTTP.
Has a support case open from day 1 and i should be getting a verdict today if they can fix, or refund. You can't email support, they wont email you also so your stuck having to call. Tried logging a TIO complaint against them, and it seems TIO made a mistake or they are not set up properly as i get Kogan mobile calling me advising different company. They dont even have contact details for Kogan internet

    • I'm on Telecube and run a few servers.

I just use dynamic ip and a free ddns service that comes with my Asus router

      • Thanks mate. I will probably hit u up in the next few days for advice haha

  • +1

Do these plans come with a public IP?

    • -2

Nope. That’s an additional fee. Exetel and Kogan plans come with public IP at no additional cost. See my comment above.

      • +2

The fee is only for static IP

    • +3

it's cgnat by default but you can addon a dynamic public ip at no cost .. if you want a static ip it's $5.50 per month

      • +2

Smart way to do it. Most people don't give a damn about cgnat or whatever the hell that means.. But for those who do want a dynamic ip, it's available for free. Kudos telecube.

      • +1

Actually what's the difference between CGNAT and dynamic IP? What's the advantage of having dynamic IP?

        • i wish the fact that it is CGNAT is made more clear on the sign up process.
i spent a day reseting my modem and pulling my hair out cause i couldnt understand why nothing will connect to my servers.
for most people it doesnt matter
but if you host servers that you need to connect to from outside, like plex for example, make sure you find the setting that changes it to dynamic ip. else you cant port forward.

Is this available on opticomm network (in nsw)?

      • +1

Hi Store Rep I have created a Telecube account and I am on the Opticomm network in NSW. Do I still sign up using the NBN plans?

        • +1

yep just add in notes that ur opticomm please

  • Can existing customers switch to this new plan?

    • +2

Yes, click through the 'Go to deal' link above, log in and switch to the plan you want by clicking 'Change to this plan'.

  • Telecube you've got my eye over the past year with your deals and am considering pulling the trigger on this. My only concern is the afternoon congestion and quality of the connection.

Can you or any users comment on congestion?

    • +2

Peak congestion is rare and usually dealt with quickly. See this speed test thread.

    • Local Aussie servers are always good speeds. International can be slow during peak. The positive is the price, the negative is occasional drop outs, sometimes slow overseas, no phone support.

    • Hi @heatl0rd.

I've just jumped aboard the Telecube train (100/40) :) So far the results are consistestent for my first few days.

I'm actually doing a speed test everyday (during peak congestion 6pm to 12pm) for April and putting together a Youtube video with my results:

Here's my results thus far in excel:

      • 12pm or 12am? Midday or Midnight?

  • So am I right in saying this plan includes local and national calls free?

What are peoples experiences with telecube?

    • sorry Dude
      its only free

DID and inbound calls to a voip extension at no cost

still you need a router support voip or ata device
      Cheers

    • Outgoing calls are at PAYG rates

  • I joined my parents up to the 50/20 1000gb plan when it was $65 pm. Would it be possible to switch to this plan and get it for $60 now?

  • Still waiting for HFC to be "enabled" - pushed back to July. Keep the deals coming :)

For those who have churned from Telstra Cable:

    • The "outage" time to switch from Telstra Cable (not Telstra NBN) to Telecube HFC?
    • The process to port the linked PSTN number - do that first or leave it until the Cable service is successfully transferred?

    TIA

    • Keep the deals coming :)

You can sign up now with TC, even though your area is not yet NBN-ready. See my post above.

The process to port the linked PSTN number

One possibility: port your PSTN number out to a VOIP provider now, and you won't have to do it at the same time as your internet transfer. There's no advantage to having the same ISP and VOIP provider, VOIP is just a service on the internet, similar to Netflix. If you port your PSTN number at the same time as you transfer your internet, and there are technical difficulties with the internet transfer, you may not have either service for an extended period. If you port your PSTN to VOIP now, you can set the VOIP to divert to your mobile phone when internet is not available, so you won't lose any incoming calls.

However, porting a number out can cause problems in some circumstances. If you have ADSL2, porting the number out will cancel your ADSL2. It may be the same with cable.

      • Edit: actually there is a small advantage to having the same ISP and VOIP provider in this case, as TC are offering a free DID (dial-in number), which normally has a monthly or annual charge with other providers. However TC's call costs aren't that great, it may be cheaper for you to use another VOIP provider who does charge for DIDs. MyNetFone charge $5/year for DIDs (Whirlpool saver plan). It all depends on how many calls you make, and whether they are mobile, national or international.

Porting a number into TC is expensive at $16.50, it's free with some other providers (e.g. MyNetFone).

  • Hi Rep
Only just signed up for 500GB 50/20 $60.. can I switch to these plans as people have done above?

  • Hi OP
How much to change to a VOIP from an existing landline and monthly cost for the DID excluding call costs? That is if I switch from ADSL to nbn FTTN. Unable to locate the info in your CIS. Thanks.

  • How do I change from my $75 plan to this $70 one?

  • Are there any isp's you can fast churn from?

  • +1

I've been with Telecube since August 2017. Price is fantastic and speeds are great. Peak congestion is rare and is dealt with quickly. They have POPs in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and now Brisbane. The main mode of support is email (although it appears Live Chat is back). If you can't access the internet when your NBN connection goes down then probably best not to go with Telecube as phone support is limited.

    • What is a pop?

      • Point of Presence
        or
        POI
you can check which isp at your area

The NBN PoP are called POI's
You can use http://MyNBN.info to work out which ISPs service your area.

        • +1

POPs and POIs are different. Home > POI > POP > www

          I think.

    • +1

Same experience here sween. Feels great to be supporting Telecube.

  • I already made a plan change this month but currently am on the 100/40 $70 plan an I able to make it $65?

    • I think you can only change plans once per billing cycle

  • +1

Earlier today I noticed that my network requests were going through Melbourne (I am on Brisbane POP) and I had to restart my modem to fix that. My thoughts were about leaving Telecube and going back to ABB despite the price difference.

Now my plan became $5 cheaper so I guess I’ll stick to it.

    Good value for the money.

  • What are the VOIP call rates? Are there calling packs for land and mobiles? Can't seem to find info

      • Thanks. But that is for hosted pabx. I'm thinking of just getting voip using nbn

        • Telecube own SipTalk, a VOIP provider. Their rates are significantly cheaper. Or you could consider other VOIP providers, there's no advantage to having your ISP be your VOIP provider.

        • @Russ: got it. Thanks

        • @trev likes bargains:

I just discovered that Siptalk charge $65 to port a landline number to them, plus $4 monthly ongoing charge! Don't use Siptalk if you want to port your number out, that's overcharging! For comparison, MyNetFone charge nothing for the port, and maintaining a DID is $5 a year, on the Whirlpool Saver plan. Have a look at them too, you'll have to search through Google to find the Whirlpool Saver plan, it's a special offer that is hidden.

        • @Russ:

I just discovered that Siptalk charge $65 to port a landline number to them, plus $4 monthly ongoing charge!

We don't, that's an old section of the site, please can you message me the link so I can fix it?

        • @trev likes bargains:
The TC rep has fixed the Siptalk FAQ page, which was where I saw the huge costs. Now it says $16.50 to port, and doesn't mention an ongoing fee. There is an ongoing fee of $1.65 a month for all DIDs on the cheapest plan, the PAYG plan.

        • @Russ:

yep the ongoing will be $1.65 .. apologies for the confusion with the old data.

  • +2

Thanks Rep, switched to this deal and saved $5 a month.

  • Hi Rep,

im in month 1 using Telecube - everything has been great except for lack of support on point of contact. usually have to wait about 2-3 hours for a tech to call back.

anyways, im currently paying 75 per month, how do I get 70 a month??

  • I found out this week that I can get on the NBN!

It is a FTTN connection - so I am planning to start with this plan: 50/20 1000GB $60/month. If I am am bottle necked by my infrastructure (FTTP vs FTTN).. then I'll drop to a lower plan.

Is this a sensible approach? (appologies if I have not used the terminology correctly).

I am currently on a vividwireless $89 unlimited plan. It has been great for my usage but this NBN deal is cheaper and faster.

I will also need a router - any recommendations ? The vividwireless router has been sufficient for my needs. I simply want something stable, that doesn't over heat, can handle ~10 devices (tv, phones, pc's, maybe a few guests for internet streaming). I don't transfer any files between pc to pc/home network.

    Located in Brisbane.

    Thank you ozBargain community.

    • +1
      • Make sure you update firmware though!

        • I need to do that…

        • @sween64: for modern router. Router only is fine

    • +1

Do you already have a FTTN/VDSL compatible modem? A router itself won't be enough.

      • I would need a Modem-router. Can't you get 2 in one's?

        • +1

yes you can, the one that Sween64 recommended to you above is just a router, not a modem/router.

I would take a look at the TP-Link VR600 or the VR600V version if you need VO-IP

It has Broadcom chipset and AC wireless. I got this for my parents and its working great.

Try and aim for the price below.

        • @Homr:

Thank you so much mate. Very helpful - the description in the deal is great too!

Strange how on Whirlpool there are customers complaining about no ability to reach the helpdesk who are completely inundated, you say you will put a hold on these promotions for the time being and then go ahead and do this?

Just letting any future customers know that Telecube's helpdesk is only reachable via email and they take 12-24hrs to respond, even for minor issues.

    • New staff hired and live chat now available

  • Awesome just signed up for when my aussie bb trial ends!

    • where you with HFC aussiebb?
I am currently on it but heard there is a 1-2 weeks without internet to switch (which noone would accept to save a few bucks)

      • I was with Skymesh HFC and it took 2 business days to disconnect then that morning it was actived at 9am

  • +1

Awesome, went from 100GB to 500GB for free. Thanks Telecube!

  • Maybe a stupid question, but right now with my current provider i'm on a 100/40 plan, and getting about 50/30 actual. If I dropped to a 50/20 plan, would I still get by 50/20 download, or would it likely scale, for instance, 25/15?

I guess, I mean, since I would be paying for 50/20 at the node, but by the time the connection got out to my place, due to distance would it degrade to 25/15.

    Hope that makes sense.

    • It depends why your current speed is so low. Is it congestion because your current RSP hasn't bought enough CVC? Or is it because you are far from the node?

    • Who is your current provider?

  • Any deals on VoIP international rates for a specific country I'm after? Would definitely swap over if there was!

    • i think our international call prices are the best around anyway .. aren't they?

      • -1

I'm not sure about best around but they were cheaper out of the main providers posted on OzB for the country I'm chasing. Might need to look around more for better deals.

        • +1

What country? Mynetfone are pretty cheap

  • Hi. I just tried to change plan and got the following error message:

There was a problem, please see below: This service is currently in an ordered state, plan changes are not allowed!

Can I change my plan? Thanks.

    • sorry, you will need to wait until your order is completed before a plan change is possible

      • My installation date is on MOnday. will i be able to change to these plans after that? Thanks.

  • I joined up to the $75 pm 1000gb 100/40 but I haven’t been provisioned yet. Expected date 11/5. Can I change to the $70 plan or do I have to cancel the old plan which hasn’t actually begun first?

    • Probably have to email support

  • 100/40 500g for 65 right?
is deal going to last until June?

    • the deal finishes on 8th May
but you can order now and put a note to connect you on a latter date

      P.S
the OP looks like did run away
      lol

  • Just an FYI for those considering Telecube.

They are a fantastic, reliable ISP. Speeds are great, and for what you pay the plans are great value.

However I would not recommend them to someone that isn't very tech savvy. As has been mentioned, they aren't a great ISP if you want to call someone and talk about a specific issue. Their instructions / guides for setting things up assume a certain level of tech knowledge / understanding that some people just don't have.

So yeah, great ISP, but not one you'd sign your grandmother up to.

    • Set up is pretty easy. Enter PPPoE credentials in router. If you can access your router settings then you'all be fine. If you've never done that before then you're right, probably best to go with a different RSP.

      • +1

In my situation is went like this
        Service provisioned
-email helpdesk "Im provisioned but still have access to my ADSL connection"
-reply 12 hrs later "Yes thats normal"
        -email helpdesk "Are you sure?"
        -no response
Receive modem in post, credentials entered, no internet access
        -email helpdesk "Its not working"
-12hrs later "Thats unfortunate, did you enter the correct details?"
        -email helpdesk "yes"
-reply 12 hrs later "is the sync light on?"

Out of frustration, call another provider to sign up and explained situation "Oh that sounds like NBN co didnt cut the line correctly, we will get that sorted ASAP".
