  • Is Oetker really a doctor?

Why would real doctors spend their life selling frozen pizzas?

      • +10

So they can treat you when you're obese and ill.

      • they went to an amway seminar and realised they could develop an income stream while they were at home asleep or relaxing on a beach with their family instead of looking after patients.

beware if your local clinic offer free pizza samples or you are invited to a doctor friends dinner party and they talk about business opportunity and pizza is on the menu.

What they don't advertise is… Rudolf August Oetker who was the father of the current CEO, was a Nazi.

Rudolf's grandfather, August Oetker was a pharmacist. Probably where the doctor part originates from?

        Enjoy your pizza.

        • Nazi doc??!

        • Interesting fact but if my dad were a Nazi I'd hope I wouldn't be held accountable for his actions.

        • @save my dollarydoos: Normally I'd say no, but if you're also going to try to benefit from your father's name as a trademark and also his business, I'd say you're deserve to be held at least a little accountable.

        • Thanks, just bought 1488 of them.

      Is Oetker really a doctor?

      It says Dr not doctor.

      Dr could mean Druggie

    • No. You misunderstand. You need a doctor after eating the pizza.

    • His pizza cures what ails you so….

    • As real as Dr Dre is. Probably.

  • Good pizza. Better than dominos and sits well

    • Thanks.

    It's all about the dough.

  • How to cook them properly?

      Microwave or steamer

Preheat the oven, make sure you have a rack in the lower 1/3 and ignore recommended temperature as 220/200 is often too high in my experience and can lead to the base becoming too brown, especially if you choose to add your own cheese.

I recommend 200/180 convection/fan respectively and remember to place it in the LOWER portion of the oven.

As with most frozen pizzas the amount of cheese is stingy so I would recommend adding a small amount of grated cheese, and using an oven/pizza tray is unnecessary and creates dishes so straight onto the oven rack will do just fine. I'd estimate 14-16 minutes of cooking time depending on your oven and how crispy you like the base to be.

I told the missus that these pizzas' were an oz bargain favourite and she echo'd those sentiments.

The amount of pepperoni is somewhat lacking, so I recommend going for the Speciale as it has similar amounts of pepperoni as the plain pepporoni yet has the added addition of mushroom and ham.

The only one I have yet to try is the cherry tomato and buffalo mozzarella but since it's 30% off at Coles currently I might give it a whirl, just don't revoke my membership because I didn't purchase at 50% off.

  • I tried the chocolate dessert pizza - was good

    • I did too i was very surprised how good it was

  • Tried the Hawaiian last night. Pretty good for a frozen pizza.

If you're in Perth spend the extra few bucks and hit up an IGA that has Cheeky Brothers or La Pagnotta pizzas. They're around, you'll find em… and won't regret it.
They aren't frozen but I buy then and chuck em in the freezer and they cook great still. One does not simply go back to standard frozen pizzas after these. Can get em for $8 to $10, we don't even buy Domino's or Pizza slut anymore since finding these.
