Just saw this deal - may have been posted a while ago for ~$1k, but I couldn't find it, so maybe I'm dreaming.

    • im sure what they are doing is pulling stock. try telling them that you would prefer to pick your purchase from store level. if they're pulling store stock to fill orders then your saving them time as well by heading in.

    • I was in the exact same boat…I logged in as guest and tracking number failed after 2-3 days as well. I raised it to their attention and they said that it must've been an IT issue and reassured that mine was going to get delivered! Have you called them up to try and see if you're still getting yours?

      Mi Goreng: I suggested that I would pick one up from store and the guy gave me some bs about "being a separate entity from the stores"…I was like but you're both BIG W! He didn't say much after that….just wasn't willing to help.

    hi all.
    spoke with the big w head office people today.
    turns out theres a big issue with online and store prices on more than just this deal.

    i got mine earlier tonight. its almost impossible to haggle with the people in store (i tried sydney west). for some reason they seem to think that working there makes them know policy and procedures of retail. then when you quote the ACL and Consumer Guidlines they dont know what you're talking about.

    section 18 of the ACL basically says that if you advertise a product and do not state that it is only online only then the customer should be able to buy in store. if this is false then they are in the wrong as it is deemed as misleading as they are trying to entice the consumer to go in to the store. the section also states that if this has happened, the business must change their advert to the correct info due to 'human error'. thats why the website is being changed so frequently.

    if you want to march in with the original print out and have a go, odds are after a while they'll hand it over. not too many are aware that they can get out of it by saying that "the mistake has been corrected as it was due to human error, therefore we are not liable". just pressure them. complain that you know your rights and you should be ok.

    you can lodge a formal complaint with fair trading. but its not going to go anywhere because it will be rejected for the above reason but at least it draws attention and lets them think you're serious.

    you can go in and kick up a stink and hopefully that will work. or call 1800 251 311 (big w customer service), tell them that on monday when the deal was posted you printed out a copy and took it to your local store. tell them they rejected you and had a go at you. you're aware people are getting the deal elsewhere so why can you. it didnt state online only at the time and you were under the impression you could pick up in store as it showed location of those in stock, so why is it when you turn up you cant get it. your understanding of the deal was that if you bought online you would get free shipping but you preferred to pick up yourself.

    it sounds like a long speech but it took me about 5 minutes to get it approved and i was on my way. they even said to me that "if the deal has been advertised then you should be able to get this in the store if you would rather pick it up. its not right that you shouldnt be able to get it too".

    sorry about the big long post. just sharing and trying to help out those who missed out.

    • also, if you're going to call in like i did, dont make reference to other people using the same method. by telling that others have been able to buy for the sale price in store, you're basically playing the card of being descriminated against and appealing to the higher ups to be treated fairly.

    • I actually did the same and got it. You just gotta be more patient and stubborn than the store staff. But now the website says online only so no point of going to store and they won't accept the print out of the old web page as its expiry date was 11 January.

  • It's been 4 days now, and I'm starting to wonder whether I will actually end up getting my TV at all.

    On the second day, I got an email saying "Your order has been dispatched" and quotes a tracking number, however the Big W couriers tracking site didn't work and was throwing script errors.

    On Wednesday, I decided to call them up and see if they could tell me the tracking info in person. The girl assured me that everything was fine and I should probably have the TV by Monday.

    However, since then I managed to get the tracking numebr working, and it is still saying "Unallocated", which according to the legend means "Warehouse will book the courier to collect the item."

    So it's been 4 days, and the TV hasn't even been allocated to leave the warehouse? I don't mind if it takes a little longer, i can be patient, but if they contact me to tell me my order is cancelled and I will be refunded, I will be extremely annoyed.

    Has anyone in SA got any further in the tracking rather than the first action?

      Ahah - To those of you worrying about what the tracking info is displaying, don't worry too much. I think their tracking system is simply bunk.

      I got a call from the couriers telling me that they will deliver the TV midday today. The website still says "Unassigned."

      Looking forward to vegging out infront of my new TV and PS3!

    • I asked the guy if there were others who weren't going to get em and he said he couldn't disclose but he said earlier in the telephone conversation that he had the job of ringing people (plural) up to notify them theres been an IT error and they won't be getting stock.

    I was so upset on missing out on this deal. Like many of us, i was going to buy the package and sell the PS3 for $300, meaning $500 for the 32 inch TV.

    Not saying its a bad price. But last night went to buy a 32” SAMSUNG UA32C4000 from JB HI FI for $569. I know its $70 more, but It’s a LED, series 4, comes with USB2.0 movie mode (can play all files from your USB directly, no need for a separate media player, thin and light and looks stunning than sony.

    So folks , who missed out on this deal and only wanted to buy a 32” tv for $500, you have better option in market. Saves you haggling staff at BIG W and selling PS3 etc etc.

      The tv you looked at was not FULL HD as this one is, so your are paying $70 for something thats not even equal in its resolution. That Samsung only does HD or a Resolution 1,366 x 768 the Sony does FULL HD or 1920x1080.

        For me i can not notice much of the difference between the two for a 32" TV. If it were 55 or 60", i would be concerned!

      Just call them up on the customer service 1800 251 311, and get ready to quote your order number and they will send you out one through snail mail.

  • I ordered day one, my number never showed on the courier system, always said invalid number, rang up customer help and they told me it was on a truck heading to SA and they would call me before delivering, sure enough next day they called and the bloke turned up in 30mins, all in all a great experience and a good price and would do it again tomrorow.

    • As I said in my OP, the reason why I posted up what had happened to me was to save those who MAY be in the same boat from waiting and just to find out that they're not going to even get their TV bundle. I would of thought that I was only 1 of the unlucky few (as it usually happens) but the reason why I had the impression that others were in the same boat was because the guy said he had a LIST of contacts which he needed to break the bad news to and I thought ozbargainers should have the right to know ASAP instead of waiting for them to contact you like a week later.

      Anyways for those who did receive their bundle, congrats.

    called up customer service on day five, was told there has beed an eror,and hes gonna give me a full refund!!!,i just kept on going that i dont care and i paid for it and why am i being notified 5 days after full payment,i told him i want my bundle now, he told me to hold the line, he hung up, i wasent going to give up so i called again, this time i gave it to them good, so the guys like ok i know ur entitled to your bundle because u paid for it, give me a min to check if i can find it instore and i'll call u back in 10mins, so i waited, two hours past and i stil havent recived a call, so again call them up and they keep going on about the error shit, told them u guys wer suppose to call me 2 hours ago to confirm a instore pickup, he does a check with some other guy and he tells me to go instore and pick it up, so i grab the keys and rush down to my local BIGW,i get there waited for early 30 mins for the guys to check with his manager if im allowed to take the bundle, comes back with the stupidass manager and he tells me that he dosent have the permission to give it to me, so i lose it and told him off, than he says ok sir we can only give the bundle to u if u go cancel the order online and come buy from here we will only charge 797 the same price! i kept going on but no use, so drove all the way back home, canceled my online order over the phone, refund with in 2 business days, hat makes it tuesday next week, drove back to bigW got the shit and drove back home, ahh what a day but finally got it:)
    the tv is very nice indeed, finished setting it up,
    so anyone who still havent got theirs, guys chase it up or u gonna end up with just a refund and nothing else

      I did the same today and picked up the bundle as I wasn't prepared to accept the fact that I was going to miss out due to their stupid error. I second Striker5950 in saying "chase it up or u gonna end up with just a refund and nothing else".

  • I live in Melbourne I just got a call and got told that it would get delivered today, but I choose my work place as my delivery address and I'm not comming in a Saturday and they couldn't change the address on the spot. So I will be receiving the package monday.

    Was kinda hoping to use the stuff this weekend but ohwell, at least I know I'm getting it for sure.

    • Do they deliver on Saturdays !!? My status shows that it was picked up yesterday at 2:15pm but hasn't been delivered… Hopefully i can get it today :D

  • They've extended it yet again til the 25th but there's still no stock online, so what's the point of it? I missed out on the first day so I keep checking, but there's never any stock.

  • They've changed the deal so that it ends on the 25th of January now instead of the 17th. Though there has still been no stock, so what's the point? They have also added "Price in store may differ". Looks like no stores will be price matching no matter what now.

  • Been 7 days now and it hasn't been delivered yet :( starting to get pretty angry, no way it takes 7 days to post something from Sydney to Melbourne……And my tracking says it has been picked up from altona on Friday at 2pm which is 40min away from my house…… They said its still in the process of being delivered and could take a few more days…. freaking ridiculous

  • Got it on Friday did the call thing from Migoreng. Thanks mate. took 7mins on the phone. Lady on the phone was wonderful at Big W online sales customer service. I did not even have to mention about ACCC and definitely did not mention ozbargain but did mention I know of others who picked theirs up earlier in the week without mentioning any specifics.

    Overall a good TV for the price. If you missed out, there may be better TVs for fast pace games out there. This one has abit of input lag. More suitable for photoshopping where color is important though it does dress up the color rather than show the true dullness of a dull picture.

      • where abouts in melbourne are you?im in south east maybe we got a doggy contractor… i think a sub contractor has stolen my TV and PS3 cause my tracking shows as delivered…. if its the case i will be skitz, no doubt i will find him and smash his van up…. or first call the police and see what they can do :)..

        Hope BigW do refunds for lost items otherwise i will have to do a charge back and move the money into a different account and then just argue with them

      • hmmm should be fine, just give em a call tomorrow morning, its probably just sitting at the depot and they should be able to deliver it….. mine says delivered already on friday which pretty much means the courier stole it and auspost opened an investigation but they wont do anything so ive got bigger problems looks like
