yeah I recently bailed on the recent Q70D in favour the TCL C755 even though it was $300 more ….. the OS plus some other features made it worthwhile IMO
Google tv’s performance slows down by time.
This is kind of old story isn't it?
yep. get something without Android/Google TV built in and add a box/dongle/chromecast.
I have a Sony Android TV from 2017 that we only use with an Apple TV - but the Android TV makes the whole OS slow and it randomly reboots.
Have had an A80J for a few years, still nice and slick
Use a Chromecast, Samsung OS sucks.
Google TV is a bucket of shit. It suffers many of the same inconsistencies and complexity of Android. Having said that yeah I would prefer it over samsung. Sad but I still find despite its frustrations, LG the better interface.
Just get a shield, or apple tv.
Don't be held back from good value panel, or good quality panel just because of OS.
Have had the same shield for like 5 years now
What OS a tv has is pretty irrelevant as all you should use it for is to select an hdmi input to switch to your Apple TV/Android box/game console.
Is this the 85" version of TVs avoid to buy by CHOICE?
Yep
"High definition picture quality is underwhelming on this TV, and it doesn't even manage to deliver decent standard definition picture quality. (Our experts rated it just 'OK' for standard, and 'Borderline' for HD viewing.)
The visuals aren't great, but neither is the sound"

This is an LCD backlit TV, not an OLED
Ouch good point, I missed that. Sorry for the confusion
Good point.
Just wanted to give my two cents, an LCD backlight with no local dimming that a typical mini-led provides (TCL/HISENSE) at a similar on sale price point is a ridiculous waste of money.
There is a significant jump in contrast, blacks and picture quality from LCD -> Mini LED, and then another jump from MLED -> OLED.
It was sold for $1195 just three months ago.
Was a price error?
No chance you'd buy this over a C755 which is priced similarly, 850 dimming zones, better brightness/contrast, MINI-LED, 144hz @ 4k etc.
Even the cheaper C655 is a better-quality panel than the Q60D.
Not $1200
The remote on the Samsung's are horrible. Changing basic TV channels is so painful.
Choice agrees
"While the user interface is excellent, the remote isn't, which is a downer – there's not much point having a great interface if you struggle to actually interact with it."

Best way around it is to use an older samsung remote
Agreed the Samsung remote is horrible tinny POS with minimal buttons and is the reason i wown't buy another Samsung. I have an S95B OLED and the picture is amazing for a PS5 Pro in a gaming room but i wouldn't use it as a regular channel flipping TV. Sounds like the remotes are still the Archilles heel of Samsung. Pity. I have one of every brand and at the moment the LG C4 is my favourite. The OS on my TCL is slow and gets stuck doing updates or randomly goes blank and needs to be hard powered off occasionally but does the job ok as an indoor/outdoor TV. The SONY is older but still going strong but to pircey these days. I would have to agree with everyone else that the newer TCL's are the way to go unless you have money to burn on a LG or SONY OLED.
No need to burn money on a LG or SONY OLED or buy these crap LCD models.
Just get a Samsung OLED at half price on an older model during runout sale just before a new model is released.
65 inch Samsung OLED S90C sold for less than $2000

Just wait and you will get 65 inch S90D for similar price soon.
For my mother when she got the Samsung TV she HATED the remote. However $10 and a day later and a cheap replacement from Amazon for a simple remote and she was happy.
And this TV is LED-EDGE LIT as well - technology that is over 10 years old.
Don’t bother , edge lit garbo
These TVs in the dark have so much ghosting its not funny. usually occurs the worst in night when watching movies in widescreen format. Fullscreen usually masks the ghosting
You would be mad to buy this over a TCL
I'd prefer spending the extra for a TCL C855 but you can't get them anymore :(
This was my issue, TV broke after all the sales - even at full price couldn't get a TCL until late Jan at the earliest
Got Q70D 2 weeks ago. The screen is full if IPS bleed(google to get more details). Samsung denied any service for that issue and said "its not a very high grade panel so its normal and within tolerance". It's a pain to watch a movie with dark scenes as the TV shows grey patches all around. Be mindful of this before you buy Q60D, rather save money and go for any cheap TV model if the quality and service remains same.
Got given a 55" LG OLED 55B6T from 2017 and it sh!it's all over my old budget Samsung LCD from 2014 and 4k LCD LG from 2016. Must say I think I'd get LG moving forward. Do like the smart tv options/GUI even tho this old but the huge remote is OTT. But hard to pay for OLED prices on next tv as dunno how long this 1 will last and a bit hesitant to go to a cheaper Chinese make like Hisense or TCL though you all rave about the mini LED screens
Curious what is the power usage on a 85" vs a 65"? It has to be like double the usable space right.
Alternatively, whats the usage on a 65" from 10 years ago vs an 85" from today, they're still mostly the same panels right? or even a 65"? I bet its gone up because of all the bloatware lol
would be almost double but whose counting right?
HODL for 75 inch TCL 855…. fingers crossed.
q60d is so so
bottom of the line qled
I'm kind of sick of the samsung os. Would prefer a Google TV
