And I though paying for 100/40 at $69 was a good deal lol.

Why are you guys so expensive ?

    • +2

They get the upgrade from 25/5 to 50/20 for free from NBN Co, yet they charge customers an extra $20 for it…

Because Telecube doesn't really have a dedicated customer service team on standby to help out non technical people to restart their modem, login & configure their modem. Explain what a wifi password is.

Telecube is awesome for those of us who have a bit of technical ability. But you'd hardly sign your granny up.

      • What's Flip's customer service like?

        • Dunno. I've only used Telecube for NBN.

          But from the blurb above

Flip has a dedicated customer service and support team located in Sydney. For any questions, you can contact us via live chat online at www.fliptv.com.au or phone on 1300 354 788.

One reason Telecube is cheaper because they don't offer that kind of service.
i.e. we're not subsidising the expensive cost of a helpdesk whom help people who have trouble turning on an ipad, let alone configuring their modem. Australian based helpdesks are expensive, which is why bigger ISPs tend to outsource it OS.

        • @supabrudda: When I email Telecube regarding any problems they normally reply under an hour. Thats better than Skymesh which was 4 DAYs !!!!

        • @supabrudda: We do our best to respond to customer enquiries as soon as possible, but yes we are a smaller ISP, so during peak times sometimes it may take a little longer for a response. We do have a dedicated customer service and technical support team that can help with things such as modem configuration

      • Hi, I'm thinking to switch over to Telecube NBN. Given that they don't have dedicated team to help out on technical matter, what guide would they provide for new customers to set up login, re-configure modem, etc…? I'm on FTTP. Would be great to hear your experience with them.

Telecube have local support. They have been under the pump a bit recently, but generally I've found the support pretty good. The problem if you ring you're basically going to get triaged and someone will get back to you via email in what could be a short or long time depending on current load.

For me that's worth $20 less a month… When you do get support they are very good, local and very knowledgeable.

        • @stratbargain: Thanks! I just ringed them and was told that someone would return my call; couldn't tell when they would call. Not a great start!

@F1ngolf: the best place to get support is on Whirlpool & via email.

Unofficially they expect you to have at least some technical knowledge and also do some Google'ing.

They are awesome, They do provide email support out of hours if they're around (I've had email exchanges after midnight) but if you're not comfortable configuring your modem/router then maybe they're not for you. But having said that jump on their whirlpool threads & ask how do I setup X modem/router with Telecube you should get a response from someone fairly quickly.

As I said above one reson their much cheaper (& reliable) is they don't waste money on dedicated helpdesks, but the trade off is little basic support & possibly no support out of hours. Having said that, they also rely on their users to let them know of issues. ANd they're quick to identify & (usually) fix them.

I'm not trying to scare you off, but just setting the expectation.

        • @supabrudda: Thanks for your helpful comments! Would check out whirlpool then.

        • @F1ngolf: Let us know what happened. When I tried to sign up, called and left a message and got an email back for a response. I am still looking for another ISP.

Our nbn prices are very competitive for the lower tier speed plans and our customers are generally able to achieve close to top speeds on all plans we offer, unlike some other providers. We run an extremely low contention ratio on our bandwidth policy which allows our customers to achieve a good quality service. This is our current special, but keep an eye out for special offers in the near future.

      • good for you. and good luck!

it's a hard crowd here. To be honest many are with Telecube $69 100/40 plan with little if any congestion. So the competition is tough.

your stategy is probably a good long term one. Like the Westnet of old.
Don't trying to race to the bottom on price, keep support local and yoiu'll get a loyal customer base.

But this is OzBargain so it's mostly about the price ;-)

        • +1

It's not about price it's about value and determining whether having a phone number you can dial into when you can't sort your issues is worth $20/mth premium for essentially otherwise the same product.

Price is only one part of any value equation.

Wowser… so it's obvious that Money magazine winner doesn't mean anything anymore because that is freakin expensive for a mediocre speed. When did Money magazine's "Best Value" award become so meaningless?

    • Maybe they used their extra profits to pay off money magazine.

  • TPG Unlimited 50/20 is $69/month + $99 set up fee and includes a free modem. Will be cheaper after 10 months use.

    • Except TPG slaps you with another ~$100 disconnection fee when you're leaving, even if whatever contract has expired. No, nobody in TPG will tell you about this, even if you specifically ask about it, until they actually charge you with it.

      • Wow. Ridiculous

Looks like a bad deal to me and any company that even offers NBN 12 is a red flag

    • We have decided to focus on small to mid households who may not need the highest speed tier and therefore are able to get fast internet for their needs at a great price. We understand this plan isn't suitable for higher users, but is more than capable for others.

      • +3

        NBN 12 is not fast.

        • +1

that's NBN's fault, they should be guarenteeing 25/12 min. (well IMHO 50/25)
So you can't blame a RSP for on selling what's on offer. SOme people only want basic internet (my oldies can't even get ADSL 1, so they'd be happy with with a 12/1 plan if it's cheaper).

        • +1

Thanks for the non needed explanation. Wasn't blaming them for selling it. The rep just stated it's fast internet in the comment I replied to. It's not fast. The fact it's an actual option on the nbn just shows what a joke the whole thing is.

  • +3

Hey OP, you might want to do a little responding to the thread regarding your pricing vs other RSP's.

We don't take kindly to NBN dealers just dumping their mediocre-appearing posts here and then ghosting away.

    • +1

Especially when they boast "dedicated customer service".

  • +3

Not good value and rep has disappeared from answering any questions about it.

Happy to revoke neg with a valid reason.

  • 2 negs and no pos here but the price seems ok to me, can anyone here list better deals ?

    • Hi Geordie, the 12 and 25 speed plans are very competitive prices in the market for unlimited data and no-contract. Let us know if you have any further questions about our service.

    • Make it 3 Negs - Registered and PAID for $59 pm plan on 25th - advised it'll be connected/transferred in 24 hours - now 5 days,3 phone calls later - still no response! Sorry, there's a response - "We'll get someone to call you back with details"!! But no call backs… Not sure how to cancel the registration and get the refund now!!

      • Hi MG007, all of our advice regarding connection times is always our best estimate. The nbn connections made on the 25th on the public holiday were submitted first thing 26th, many of which were connected the same day. Please let us know via email or phone with your address so we can look into this to see where your connection status is at. Regards

        • Already sent email and called numerous times with no response to email and pretty much the same with calls.. can you advise how to place refund request as I'm not ready to wait anymore for the connection..

        • @MG007: We are constantly monitoring and responding to emails and answering calls. It's very difficult to give an exact connection time and if there is an issue with an order (which would delay the connection) we contact the customer as soon as possible. I'm sure if you contact us via live chat, email or phone we will honour your request.
