    Lease

    No thanks!

      • Isn't there a minimum of 24 months though?

      • +3

Not a good deal when you consider these phones have high salvage value after 2 years.

      • +2

In good condition (there is no details on what they class as God condition), otherwise you up for more cost

        • +5

God condition will be pretty hard to achieve with just a phone.
Do let me know if anyone manages to get there within 24 months.

        • +1

          @dasher86:

How do I keep my phone in godlike condition? Please advise.

        • +1

@excelsior: Nail it to a cross to attain nirvana.

        • It’s not hard putting a case and screen cover on this phone.

        • @excelsior: always keep it in the original box, carry it wherever you go with the box, never take it out. Otherwise, find a phone on gumtree, very often, I could get it less than a thousand, plus the same amount of data and call given in the plan, I may need only pay around 25$ pcm from some less known provider but with Telstra, Optus, or Vodafone network. If you are not planning hiking in the jungle, it is actually the best price. Together per 24 month, you roughly spend two third of this plan plus you can trash your phone anytime you feel a need to do so.

        • @JuliusSeizure: I have very strong case on my iPhone, still my phone screen still cracks. :D

        • @vchar: did you put a screen cover (glass protector) on it?

        • @dasher86: I think I've done it visually. Only 2 scratches on the front glass, extremely minor. That being said, the battery inside is kind of destroyed. I'm on Month 22

        • @JuliusSeizure: yes I have a glass protector one. :D

    • No lease option extra $10 per month, visible now on the deal page.

      • I think if you have time to spend on OZbargain, you can also do the same on Gumtree or eBay, then you can really get a great price for the same phone. If you wish, you can get a much cheaper sim only plan from many providers. You will see the total cost is greatly reduced.

I think this deal needs a little bit more information added..

    Upgrades:
    +$10 S9 to S9+
    +$15 64GB to 256GB
    +$10 Lease to Own

Looks like it also comes with a free Galaxy Tab A

    • This might sound like a silly question, but is the Galaxy Tab A leased also (regardless of lease to own or not) or is it yours the second you sign? Asking to know if it would be possible to sell it immediately.

    • +1

Bonus tablet not. Available on these plans it says clearly at the bottom of the page . It's available on 100$ plan.

    • $10 lease to own

That seems like the deal to be had if one was to get this deal.

  • Is this the same as the previous opus deal?

  • Is the galaxy 9 worth it?

    • Compared to?

      • Any phone

        • You'll have to be more specific than that to get a fair answer. What phone do you have now?

        • @jasswolf: iPhone 8, galaxy s8, pixel 2, Mi phones etc

        • +1

@asa79: if you already have a phone from 12 months ago, I wouldn't bother.

  • 256gb is $25 more not $15, so $450 for 192gb

    • -1

Phone payment for S9 256GB is $15 on lease plan, $25 on own-the-phone plan. Not sure what you mean by $450 for 192gb.

      • Sorry was supposed to be $350 Total cost at end of 24 month between 64gb and 256gb

  • +1

It's not a bad deal if you take the no-lease +$10 option and sell the phone later. I think you'll get more than $240 for it.

    You'd be paying $69 for 25GB a month, which is pretty good. I'm on the Woolies S8 plan, $65 for 4GB. It's an extra $4 for 21GB.

I wouldn't take the 256GB option though (that's an extra $360). You can just put in a memory card which will cost you about $120 on a sale.

    • Any reason for those of you to disagree? A better deal out there or are you just being lazy and negging with no feedback?

      • I called it not a bad deal. They either think it is a bad deal, or it's a fantastic deal. That's the only way I can interpret it. Thanks for canceling out the negs though.

  • +2

Should wait for Harvey Norman $200 gift card promotion then sign up.

  • Ugh lease.

This is a terrible deal compared to the previous Optus deal which I signed up for. Got the S9+ 64gb for $74 per month. 20gb of data and Optus sports.

    • +3

Read the add-on costs: S9+ on non-lease plan is $79/month for 25 GB, so the value is arguably better.

  • When does this deal end?

    • May 20th

      • Note however that the extra 10GB data offer ends in 1 week. After that, it'll only be 15GB data

        "DOUBLE DATA OFFER:
Sign up/recontract to selected My Plan Flex handset plan to receive double the standard data inclusion for 24 months. Double data offer is not available with other bonus data offers unless specified and is forfeited if you re-contract, change or cancel your plan. Double data will not appear until second bill. Ends 30/4/18."

        • I'll probably get negged again for giving a correct answer. Crazy negger.

The 10GB bonus data online offer ends 20/5/2018. This bonus data online offer is not the same as the double data offer which ends 30/4/2018.

        • @alvian: whoops, my mistake. Thanks!

Come on Telstra.. do some iphone X run-out F&F deal..

    • Bigger margin in non Apple phones

  • Managed to talk to customer care and get them to apply the F&F discount with the s9+ 256gb

    • Optus? More details?

      • I already had the F&F discount from last year on the $40 plan, tried to talk to online chat who were unable to apply it to the recontract.

Called the customer care, took a whole bunch of transferring and convincing, but, they were able to do it, I don't get the extra 10gb as that is an online only offer.

Got the $59 plan + $30 phone and I get 25% off the $59, so it ends up being $74.25 per month with 15gb of data.

        • Isn't that $5 more for less data?

        • +1

          @asa79: It's the S9+ 256gb and it's to own the phone outright

  • i think the title should be 15gb, there's only 1 week left of the bonus 10gb. 23 months contract of 15gb.

    • it sounds to me the bonus data is applied for the term of the contract "Includes 15GB + 10GB Online Only bonus data for 24 months"

  • Bugger - Took an oppo r11s recently on optus 24m with 10gb data for not much less only a month ago - Nothing I can do about it now unless you wizards have something for me!
