HP Pavilion X360 14-BA130TU (i5 8th Gen, 8GB RAM) $878 @ Harvey Norman (FRIDAY 13th SALE - More Deals Available)

60

Pretty good deal for an i5 8th gen, 8gb 2in1. Only down side is just a 128gb SSD. Great value if you're looking for something <$1000. Anyone have any other recommendations for a 13-14" with i5 8th gen 8gb in the $800-$1100 price range?

  • Would you recommend this laptop for a student who has scoliosis and weak constitution? Would prefer a decent laptop but it's for a disabled person so it has be very light.

    • It's 2.8kg which isn't very light for a 14" so might be better to look at other options.

There is no chance this weighs 2.8kg. The HP site lists it as starting from 1.63kg, while Officeworks lists a similar model at 1.7kg. Still not light but 2.8kg is clearly an error.

    • I would recommend a Lenovo X1 Carbon. Probably the best mix of durable and light. It is quite expensive though.
Here is a deal for the latest model: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/372279
I would look for a G5 model though, as I got one last month for $1300 during ebay 20% discount + $150 Lenovo cashback.

If you can't find a cheap X1 Carbon, you can also look at the T470s which is 200grams heavier (1.3kg). But the X1 Carbon is better if you can get it cheap.

For example, this ebay listing (grays online) is $959.20 due to the 20% PUMP20 discount on at the moment: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-T470s-14-inch-FH… (Lenovo ThinkPad T470s 14-inch FHD Display/i7/8GB/256GB NVMe SSD)

    • I'd not recommend a 2.8 kg laptop even for a non-disable person. Try one of these (ideally when on sale): Ideapad 720s, Asus zenbook line (UX430UA/UN, UX461, etc)

    • LG Gram PC if you want light!

  • There's the Lenovo E470 for $889 (or less with 5% cashrewards)
    i5-7200U, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, 14" FHD, W10Home, 1 Year warranty, 45WHr, 1.9KG.

Its only advantage over the x360 is 256GB ssd vs 128gb.

    • Yeah this is a great option too however only has the 7th gen i5.

      • Yeah, 8th gen is a good upgrade because it's now quad-core.

  • OP, the HP Pavilion X360 14-BA025TU 14" 2-in-1 Laptop is at the top of your price range @1098, but is a nice unit with a 256 SSD
