any non ssd model, is slow slow and slow

I've had a AMD A9 3.0g 1tb 8gb ram model, non ssd, very slow performance, but changed with ssd, very quick

    • I too used to have laptop with the exact same specifications as this and yes it was slow.

So someone pls explain to me. I've had laptops before all with non ssd hdds and entry level ones. And I don't remeber them being that slow.
I've had laptops for 15 yrs. And I always buy entry level

      • Are you talking about AMD A9 3Ghz ( 9420???) spec or intel Celeron N3450 spec? Both no speedsters, better with SSD though.

I had a n3450 or very similar and it was painfully slow.

I've had laptops before that. And don't remeber them being that slow….

        • @hellohello123:

I agree that a lower end Celeron or AMD quad core with a regular spinning hhd and running windows ten is same if not slower than a dual core running windows 7 or 8. These cpu's are just for basic stuff like email, word processing slowly and some laid back long board surfing.

Would perform a bit better swapping the hdd for a ssd. I am rocking a pentium B970 with ssd and 8GB ram on windows ten and scoots along still ok as my daily knock around lappy.

Could look at these computers as a large screen netbook type basic computer for basic tasks only.

        • yes, but when i changed to 256ssd with the same other specs, it is super fast.

8gb ram, 256ssd, 15" HD (drawback), A9-9420 (3-3.5G), 2gb 520 graphics, is even capable of doing PS and Indesign job at a acceptable speed, but only cost $697 at officeworks.

you would like to try one ssd model next time, and you will never go back to traditional hdd.

Officeworks has an entry to mid level 256g ssd/8gb ram laptop at the cost of only $697.

This laptop is capable of doing any ms officesuite work at a fast speed and also reasonable speed for photoshop and indesign. The only drawback for the laptop is it is only has a hd screen.

  • Would you believe the Good Guys had almost same spec Acer but with FHD matt screen as clearance for $379.

Went back few days later as I did not know it was clearance price, display model all gone.

  • The Good guys are selling for $336 with full hd display

  • Google and Acer.com.au says this laptop does NOT have a FHD screen.
