  • sorry wrong post

  • Thanks OP. Equates to a Business Class redemption Bkk - Syd, with about 15K points left over!
They rang me, and left a message "paperwork not sufficient please call..etc" I thought "Can I be bothered". Anyway, I rang, and it was about almost nothing, and I was approved an hour later.
Regarding churning CC's; it won't affect me if I ever get knocked back for credit, but if it would impact a lot on your life/future, then you should read https://www.creditsimple.com.au/content/what-affects-credit-… I don't know how correct it is, but 'food for thought'.

  • To get my spending up to $2500 I was going to stock up on Coles gift cards discounted through UnionShopper/Digegifts, but they require bank deposit payment. Is there anywhere that I can get Discounted Coles GC's and pay with VISA?

    • Can you use Woolworths egiftcards instead? If so, you can get them from cash rewards at 5% discount

      • Yep I bought some of them too. Initially in doing the Woolies transaction my CC was blocked by ANZ security department, as there is a lot of fraud going around with CC's buying GC's.

    • AGL Rewards

  • ANZ just told me I am not eligible for the bonus 75k QFF points even though I cancelled more than 12 months ago. Apparently, the T&C's said the offer is only eligible once per customer. Anyone able to get the bonus 75k QFF points more than once with the same product?

    • Hmmm that’s a concern as I’m in the same boat (applied after 12 months of cancelling old card).

For those who have received their welcome letter & card, is there any mention of 75k bonus they’re? Mine doesn’t specifically state it, only mentions the first year annual fee waiver.

      • I Closed 18 months ago. I can't find any mention of 75k. Found on the back of the Letter of Offer (=Page 2) "The Annual Account Fee and Rewards Program Fee are not payable in the first year." That's a relief at least!

        • Yes that's where I saw mine…but I'd like to get confirmation of the 75k bonus eligibility before I proceed to spend…..

        • @kacak: I will take the risk. Sell the Qantas Passes for a small profit, and use the card for 11 months at the generous $1 = 1 QFF point. My credit file has already been accessed by ANZ & shows the $15k credit limit.

      • +1

I'm a virgin to ANZ, no mention of the bonus points in my welcome letter.

    • Anyone else confirm this? This would pretty much kill any credit card churn

      • I'll be interested in hearing from those who have successfully "churned" through bonus points after bonus points (QFF) in the past and share their experience.

    • +2

This wasn't my experience. I've churned this 5 times in the last 5 years. For this year I applied in Feb and points were in my account earlier this month. Have cancelled and set my clock for April 14 2019.

      • That’s excellent. Do you recall whether your welcome pack mentions the 75k bonus QFF points?

        • The paperwork has never included the 75k. I always get the deal confirmed when I call up to activate the card though. I like the reassurance. And 5 out 5, the system has worked to perfection.

        • @Lunarboogie: Good one Luarboogie! Looks like I just got a "by the book" ANZ rep - unlucky for me :(

        • @alanslho:

HUACA - Hang up and call again. In fact, don't even call. If you last cancelled this card more than 12 months ago than apply. It's in the t&cs and there is no legitimate grounds they can bar you from it.

        • @Lunarboogie: The T&C's did say "offer eligible once per customer" though

        • @alanslho:
So I rang ANZ up to get my internet banking set up, and at the end of the call, asked them to also check if I had the 75k bonus points offer. He confirmed it was all there on my account and also reminded me of requirement to spend $2,500 within 3 months.

So all on track, I'm guessing.

        • @alanslho:

Don't risk it then. I'm pretty confident that clause applies specifically to you.

        • @Lunarboogie: Haha :-)

  • Hey guys - Did I have to enter in my QFF number during the application process to be eligible for the 75,000 points offer, or can I provide it after I get my membership and still be eligible? I applied for the card and didn't have a QFF at the time. Thanks

    • +1

You can add it later and still get the points. Doing it when you call up to activate the card or when you call up to set up internet banking would be the time to do it. I wouldn't sit on it if I were you. You don't want to tempt fate.

  • I have not had an ANZ card for about 20 years. How long does it generally take to get the card sent out?

  • +1

Just wondering if anyone's required submitting proof of income?

    • +1

I did, despite being a previous ANZ black card holder (and not bordering on the minimum income)
Just submitted 2 payslips and was done

  • I haven't applied for a card for a while but was curious - do credit card sign up these days request your mortgage repayments/other limits/debts? Or do they just ask for income? If they were conscientious, they would… but we all knows banks are anything but. Whats the standard these days?

  • Is there a way to lower the minimum income requirement? Like if you have a mortgage etc?

  • Can you cash out or buy something with quntus frequent flyer points? You can with frisflyer…sorry never used quntus one before

    • +1

There is a Frequent Flyer store - https://www.qantasstore.com.au/

Dont think you can cash them out, but you can find people who will pay you cash to buy them… Technically against the rules though, but it seems to be a common thing.

      • Thanks for your response! Yeah that’s good enough as you can purchase like Westfield vouchers and then spend it. I think I will apply for it.

Why would people buy points from others? What can they use for?

        • +1

You can arguably get better value for your points - a number of people like to collect points to get free flights/flight upgrades. Round the world flights seem to be the new cool thing to redeem for.

If flying doesn't interest you (or you don't have enough to make it worthwhile) then you're better off selling the points. The going rate seems to be about 1c per point - so 75,000 points is potentially about $750. You usually wouldn't get that value redeeming from the store - but it's much more convenient as you can do what you like, when you like!

        • @aragornelessar: wow! That’s very useful info. That makes sense as redeeming for gift cards will give me much less than $750

  • I have a cancellation letter for this card dated 24.4.2017… do you think its safe to apply & get 75k points? Is the cutoff date based on application date or approval / card issue?
The reason for the rush is I want this card to book flights to Japan and get free travel insurance. Anyone had issues using the travel insurance on this card?

  • Has it been confirmed that it's okay to have had this card before and then cancelled more then 12 months ago and still qualify for the points? As I spoke to ANZ twice and gotten different answers about the once per person t and c. And iv seen people have had that mentioned to them. I haven't applied yet as I don't want to get the hit on my credit file unless I'll get the points.

applied, got declined. meet income etc. have good cred history. would I be best going into a branch and talking to someone?

Anyone gone through this inane application process yet? I filled in the online form and uploaded the payslips as requested. Called back at the end of the week after hearing nothing (despite the claims on the site that they'd call within 2 bus days if they needed anything) and was taken question by question through the whole app.

The questions were stupid as the instructions would say to sum up all values, then he would ask me "so you have 1 card with x value?" I had to answer no to pretty much every question the indian call centre guy asked and then break it down, since he clearly doesn't see the instructions given when filling it out.

He tells me he doesn't have my paperwork, which I uploaded during the application process. I explain this and he goes off and finds them. He then tells me he needs additional paperwork which is not the payslip requested during the application, which I have sent, and he said directly after this a decision would be made, which has not happened.

Clearly I need to call back again. I feel like I'm project managing my own card application. I can't believe this is SOP? I really am not this excited about the card application, but since they've gone and done a hard enquiry on my credit file I suppose I'll just ride it out.

  • Ok so..
"There's two types of ANZ rewards card:
    1. ANZ Frequent Flyer
    2. ANZ Rewards

They both run on separate cycles."

both you get 75k qantas FF so would you get 1 card first, wait 12 months then apply for the other card?

    • I assume the advice is to apply for one, meet minimum spend, get the points and cancel immediately, then apply for the other one. This would allow you to get 150k per 12 month cycle.

  • +1

I was knocked back simply for having no credit history with ANZ. Everything else was above their requirements.

    Anyone else have this issue?

  • so any confirmation from anz for those who have held the card but cancelled more than 12 months ago will still get the 75k qff points?

    • +1

yes I cancelled 370 days before reapplying and got the bonus 75k points in my account yesterday after my 2nd statement.

      • Thanks for the feedback. Did you do the necessary $2500 spend and get the 2500 plus points on your first statement or was it spread over 2 statements?

        • +1

yes made my 2500 spend before my 1st statement in one go

        • @FeZZa21: I did identical actions and got the 75k on 2 statement too. And so this is a certain 'churner' :)

        • +1

          @Peck:

Yup, and to cancel just send a online MSG to customer support via your ANZ online thing.

Don't forget to request your 2 free complimentary Qantas lounge passes though, to use or sell :)

        • @FeZZa21:

I thought about this too but don't you need to have a boarding pass or reservation in order to be able to request the lounge pass?

        • @icanfly:

          No :)

  • +2

I believe the deal is still on and not expired. https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/black/

    • +1

Yup that's gonna be my next one as soon as the black qff has been confirmed cancelled.

      • +1

Also if you like Krisflyer, with the ANZ points you can transfer 2 to 1 Velocity plus any Virgin Velocity Bonus (They often have 15% bonus), and then transfer Velocity 1.35 to 1 Krisflyer. Much better than 3 ANZ to 1 Krisflyer.

  • Does paying bills still count as an 'eligible spend'?
Previous Ive paid my bills into credit to get the points in the first statement and cancel the card asap. Easy to manage this way without it hanging over my head.
Id heard they were narrowing the scope of 'eligible spends'.
Anyone heard anything to back this rumour?

  • Reached my minimum spend some weeks ago but no points yet. Rang up and was happy to find out the system sees me as eligible but I won't get the points until 60-90 days after the date which I became eligible. I hope it doesn't take that long. I read someone got theirs after the 2nd statement but then again they spent the minimum the first day they got the card so that happened within 60 days

    • Got my points today in my ANZ portal.

  • edited.
