TPG NBN Voice SL Bundle $59.99 (11.2Mbps), $69.99 (44Mbps) $89.99 (78.1Mbps) /Month (Unlimited Data, No Setup Fee with Contract)

42

As with my Aussie Broadband post, this post is more intended for those on old TPG NBN bundles, if you don't use your TPG Landline often, you can switch to the SL Bundles to save upto $10/month with landline as PAYG. Obviously each provider has varied pricing with some much cheaper than others, it really depends on your needs and your mileage based on the services available in your area. The main appeal of TPG at the moment is their price and advertised typical evening speeds for an unlimited service. Other things to consider when picking a service provider may include their international routing/backhaul, customer service, price, contractual/setup fees, profitability and longevity of a provider and whether they prioritise/shape certain traffic (net neutrality).

  • Setup $99.95 or no lock-in contract or $0 on 18 month contract
  • Voice Prepayment Outside Included Value $20
  • Equipment Delivery Fee $10
  • Additional once off $300 nbn™ New Development charge applies if your premises is
identified by nbn™ as being within the site boundary of a new development.

    There is nothing new here.

They have been that price for ages and Exetel is cheaper.

    • so how is exetel?their 50M plan seems quite cheap at the moment

They are about as good as TPG

I have been with them for ages. They are cheap and good but like TPG some people hate them.

        • some people hate them.

yeah, just those that have had dealings with customer service.
That said, I've been with them for many years now

      • so how is exetel?their 50M plan seems quite cheap at the moment

hell no. investigate their history. they boot customers off their network if you use too much of your monthly quota

  • We have been with TPG for about 7 years with land line , ADSL and mobile) . In that time our quotas have gone down and the price has gone up .
We are due for NBN in a month and will be moving , There's just so many cheaper options now .

They've had this price for a while now, not really a deal

TPG are a terrible service provider.

    • I have been with them for 5 years on ADSL. All good. Top speeds and minimal congestion. Had excellent service when needed which is not often.

    • I cant complain about their service , It's been fine . Try one of the bottom feeder ISP's and you will be amazed at just how crap an ISP can be .

      • My experience was hopeless, constantly congested and phone support was pathetic. I get it, they're cheap, but it comes at a huge cost. I also can't forgive Teoh for his gutting of iiNet. people here probably only care about price though.

        • I just don't get the "phone support was pathetic" . I've called them a few times and yes , the dingaling on the other end did the whole "is it plugged in?" thing while you hear the pages turning but at least they always answered the phone . For me it was always a telstra line problem and I ended up waiting days for Telstra to mosey on over but it was never any fault of TPG . I put my mother on some super cheap plan with an ISP that took literally hours to get through to and they constantly overcharged her . It was time consuming like you wouldn't believe .
I certainly get that some regions with some ISP's will under provision and that sucks .

  • With TPG NBN 100 plan for the last few months in Camberwell (VIC) and I consistently get 94 Mbps download with them. Just did a test just then at 9.50pm to confirm. Upload is about 37 Mbps.

I know that speed experiences are situational but I'm having a great experience right now.

ACCC’s speed assessment showed TPG had the fastest speeds during peak times of all Najor ISPs.

  • Thanks for the info, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

Just if anyone was curious, here are my typical usage stats from Usenet with a US server

    news.supernews.com=1.1 GB
Downloaded in 1 min 58 seconds at an average of 9.8 MB/s

I think TPG are one of the best providers around.

I am with Telecube and these prices are laughable. Do not buy people. Plenty of better alternatives.

tpg never again had congestion issue with them. they basically didn't want do anything about it. was back and forth with support for 3 months and best excuse was best speed we can provide and they blamed nbn on top. international speeds were piss poor as well.

moved to aussie broadband and 0 issues.

    • Not sure why you where neg to kingdom come lol.

      • yea not really sure either had to get TIO invovled to get out of tpg mess. there was times i used to get 100kb dl speed of microsoft site.

  • tpg's call rates are expensive and you need to cough up a $20 prepayment which really puts me off.

    • Their home phone rates are expensive . We have a home mobile internet bundle . I disconnected the home phone yesterday as the only people that ever called were telemarketers and my mother . Thats a Win Win .

    • Porting number out can be a nightmare -_- (At least the old ADSL 1$ Home Phone bundles)
Alarm monitoring systems don't work, fax don't work.
Do they work these days with NBN?
