  • How do these compare to the Optiplex 9020?

    • +1

The processor has a TDP of 35W compared to 60W of the one in the OptiPlex, along with being a more modern processor (6th Gen vs 4th Gen), also the unit is physically smaller.

      • Can it fit a low profile 1050ti to turn it into a gaming machine???

        • No, it is quite small and does not have slots for a PCI-e card.

        • @Lorindor: It does have an m2 slot iirc.

    • +1

The Passmark of 5607 for the 6400T is quite respectable - for 2015, but you can't throw in a 1050ti. This is also displayport, not HDMI which would be a lot more preferable for a media center, which is about all this could really be…

  • +6

    Is this a bargain?

  • does it come with HDMI or VGA port? I can only see 2 display ports on the pictures.

    • You can get cheap adapters. About $7 on Ebay from an aussie retailer.

As always cheaper from China. More from a brick and motar store.

      Displayport is the most versatile.

  • +4

no bargain here unless you desperately want the form factor the specs is way below par for the price.

    • Hi Balls,

Sorry for disappointing you. Any chance you can link me some OzBargain deals recently for the same or similar specs for less money. I just want to know where we missed the mark for you for next time.

      • +2

You can search for them yourself.

        • Hi StoneSin,

Sorry I wasn't being lazy I just couldn't see anything. I am not sure why this has upset you. I wouldn't have posted it up if I didn't think it was a good deal and wanted to know where I went wrong.

          Again sorry to upset you.

        • -1

@squiddy: You didn't upset me. I'm just telling you how you can get people to buy your products more. They're not going to tell you where things are cheaper just so you can compete. You have to compete before they'll help you. To compete, you have to do research and attempt to beat the competition.

        • @StoneSin:

          Fair call mate,

I guess my research didn't come up with anything hence the confusion.

          All G in the H!

          Cheers

        • lol? Aren't you a ray of sunshine today StoneSin

        • +1

@Homr: No need to get upset Homr.

    Massively overpriced for specs

  • +5

If you are concerned about both "form factor" and the "power consumption", NUC (OR Gigabyte BRIX) is the answer. This one 35W TDP compared to 15W in NUC.

  • +2

$600 for this doesn't seem like a clearance price, especially since you can probably snag a barebones 7th gen i5 NUC for around $400.

      I agree.
In all fairness you would still be up for HDD, RAM and OS but most people would put an SSD in and OzBargainers would no doubt get a cheap price for their Windows OS or perhaps show some smarts and go Linux.
End result would be a vastly faster unit drawing less power and with a new warranty

      • +1

        Hi Tightarse,

While these do have new warranty I completely agree. I think where we have missed the mark with these is that they are a business machine ready to go which suits people who have time constraints or are looking for an easy solution. Most OzB community have time and effort to put into creating a more cost effective solution and as such that ingenuity leads them to seeing more value in other solution.

We will keep this in mind for future deals and appreciate all of the feedback.

        Cheers!

        • No worries squiddy.
Kudos to you for a fair and reasonable approach to comments :)

        • @King Tightarse:

          Cheers Mate,

Appreciate the guidance, except maybe Will Mcdonald who buys computers from Coles everyone has been constructive. I guess to be fair will looks fairly well aged so maybe mistook ozb for an MKR forum

  • Come pre-installed with Windows 7 Pro but can obviously be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro

I don't think you can do this for free anymore.

    • +2

      Hi Lemo,

These actually include the upgrade media etc.

      Cheers Big Ears!

looks like a shit deal to be honest. 4gb of ram, 2.2 ghz processor and 500gb sata hd. I could pick up those crap components from coles

    • Thanks for the feedback Will,

P.s. Sorry about partially parking in your driveway impeding access. Won't happen again ;-)

      • certainly doesn't anymore, surprised people bought it. Than again not many people know much about electrical components. Good promotional sale.

  • +3

This is a business product and I don't think this deal is actually that bad. I recently needed to purchase a small PC for remote work via VPN. At $593 this is a better deal than anything I found considering W10 Pro was a requirement. I think a lot of people who are saying "get a NUC" aren't considering the RAM, HDD and OS license costs
