The you get a voucher to print that gives you $5 off.

  • Last time, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/32742, the voucher wasn't unique and directly linked on the server. Same deal this time?

    • I was wondering how I missed that past important post. But then I realised at that time I was tripping around shopping in California… Looks like you confirm my suspicions Thanks

Barcode is slightly different has 3 digits at end that are changed

  • $5 off not 5%?

    • Give the man a medal - well spotted - thank you, have updated the boo boo

    • .

  • "Voucher is valid for one transaction only between 20 December 2010 to 16 January 2011", quite a short time frame.

    • Most people would grocery shop weekly or fortnightly, so still good.

    • Thats what my voucher says but it looks like they will have another voucher available later as the promo goes to the end of January

I know I'll get negged for this, but for $100 I can buy double the number of groceries at Aldi and probably still have change

    • It's all about timing. Buy the goods that you need on special from Coles/Woolworths/Aldi. I found that prices for stuff like milk and butter are about the same prices in the big 3. Chicken breast for example is more expensive at Aldi then the majority of the time from Coles and Woolworths. Aldi prevails in it's generic brand of name brand things like cereal, sauces and such. Get my fruit and veggies at a fruit/veggie place.

I'm fortunate enough to shop at Barkley Square (VIC), which has a Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Fruit/Veggie shop, bakery, and butcher within or just outside the shopping centre.

    • Double??? A little bit of Xmas wine affecting the judgement I fear. Even Aldi dont make anything like that in their claims. And you know if you shop in NZ the prices are even better…..

But hey, seriously you should post the address of this Aldi, so we can all shop there.

      • well I hardly buy any processed food. For example at Aldi I can usually buy truss tomatoes for $3.99kg (sometimes $2.99kg) as opposed to $7.99 at the Duopoloy

Another one is carrots 69cents per kilo at my Aldi (most other Aldis sell for 99cents) Woollys do it for 2.99 a kilo.

Okay double was a stretch, but at least 1 and 1/3 is achiveable

        • and my Grocer sells carrots for 59c (which Coles AND ALDI match), so selectively you can choose whatever you like. However like Neil I just buy sale items. I know llama jokes about it, but hey this IS ozbargain. Deals turn us on.

BTW rodripa I do buy stuff at Aldi we are fortunate enough to have two within 10 minutes of home. But hey nobody said you have to take up the deal AND there are people who shop at Coles who would appreciate the opportunity, to save $5. And thats why I posted it, but hey next time maybe I should check with you before making any posts to see if you approve… LOL

Also Coles and Woolies unfortunately for some have different prices in different areas so comparing fresh food prices that you have makes sense for your area but this is an Australia wide forum some places dont even have Aldi

        • OzPete wrote 'and thats why I posted it, but hey next time maybe I should check with you before making any posts to see if you approveā€¦ LOL'

Not sure why you're taking it so personally pete. Relax, its Christmas

        • LOL = Laughing, which means not serious - so at last we are in agreement. Merry Christmas as well - seriously.

i'm lucky, i've got all the supermarkets closeby (woolworths, coles, iga, aldi). iga is good for cheap meat & icecream. aldi always seem to have cheapest fresh fruit (eg bananas $1.49 vs $3+ at coles/woolies, pumpkin $2.49 butternut vs $4 at coles/woolies, broccoli $2.99 vs $5+ at coles/woolies, rockmelons $2.79 vs $4+ coles/woolies, carrots & apples) - but not always. the problem with aldi is they don't have much of a range and inevitably i have to go to coles.

also, all the frozen vegetables in aldi come from china and in the back of my mind i'm worried about pesticides and heavy metals in water. canned salmon, although cheap, comes from thailand and they don't disclose the source of their salmon, so again i'm concerned about pcbs and other contaminants in the salmon.

They should give you $5 just for completing the survey, a bit of ripoff that you have to spend $100 as well.
