  • are these legit/safe?

    • +3

It's by paypal. And promoted by ebay in an EDM.

      It's a risk i'm willing to take.
      EDIT: Already received them

      • Thanks for letting us know

      • hey do they have your name on them? was thinking of getting them as a present

        • +1

No they don't. The email does, but then you click the link and it takes you to a generic looking paypal giftcard page.

        • @broy:

          thankyou

        • +1

Or were you thinking of selling them?

        • @serpserpserp:

have 3 weddings so hoping there is a gift registry and DJs
otherwise i am going to use about $400 of it

    • +22

      Thanks for letting us know.

    • Already received them

          Found WatchNerd's wife!

      • Any further updates?

    • I voted you up for comical value

    • After ebay and paypal fees you will not make a profit.

      • -1

        Gumtree, cash only.

        • Let us know how much you make.

          My guess is nothing.

        • Don’t get mugged

    • Excellent story bro.

  • They sell the 1000XM2. Could price match elsewhere for like $350 on sale and get an awesome deal!

    • Wonder if you could match the Costco price hmmm. Would probably be tough but worth a try. Even if you matched for 300 it would be a great deal.

    • problem is, where to price match for $300 or $350?

    • Will they price match if it's below their purchase cost? I know Myer didn't :(

      • +1

Not in my experience. They couldn't price match a fridge at The Good Guys as it was below their cost and didn't have it in stock. Always worth a try though.

    • +2

Tempted to buy these to try pricematch DJ.

But scared I go there and they reject pricematch and then I be left with gift voucers I cant use.

      • You could sell them off if you cant use them :)

      • contact DJ and see if they'll match the price before you buy the gift cards

    • Ok just went to DJ in Sydney CBD and tried to pricematch Costco and JB Hifi receipts, guy told me they wont pricematch costco or receipts, they need to have an online order to price match.

If they did would have been such a sweet deal.

      • they need to have an online order to price match.

That's so they can check the price.

The reciept is a historic price and to price match you need to be able to buy it at the time of a price match.

Plus anyone could print up their own reciept.

        • True.

Price matched at $299 couldn’t do Costco but his best was $299

        • Great price, so means you got it for $240 after gift cards.

        • @bruc3: no gift cards used never buy them

        • @Dex38313:

Ah ok…regardless still a great price for a great headphone.

David Jones online sales are quite poor, they recently canceled my order despite it showing as being available online.
Worse refund doesn't happen automatically either I had to call them 4 times to get my money.

    • +1

I agree their online stock mgmt system is shite … Ive had the opposite customer service experience in Southland Vic though. They selected a 'close' item for a pair of sunglasses that were on sale (they couldnt locate the ones I selected). Weekly followup calls to come in and pick up. I didnt like them so they refunded on the spot.

    • +1

This is for both online and in-store.

      • He probably doesn't live near a DJ store but his neg vote is invalid for poor online customer service reason.

    • +1

You’re really going to neg the deal because you had one bad experience with one of the largest retailers in Australia?

      • -1

FYI that's actually a valid neg according to the rules (past experience with the merchant).

        • -1

You need to read the voting guildines again - one bad experience doesn’t = “Major issues with retailer”.

        • -1

          @aja12:

'refund doesn't happen automatically, I had to call 4 times' is a systematic issue that will affect everyone. If s/he's correct about that, I'd call it major.

        • -1

@justtoreply: I really don’t think the standard refund process for David Jones is them refusing to issue a refund until a customer has called a minimum of four times about their refund. Do you honestly believe that is their standard practice, or a “systematic issue that will affect everyone” as you put it?

I’d call it a a less than great experience, something that every single retailer in existence is unfortunately responsible for dishing out occasionally. Do you believe everything everyone writes on the internet? Did they really have to call four times? Maybe? Over what period of time? A week? A day? We’re they super impatient? Did they not understand that the refund process can take time depending on various factors?

At the end of the day, their order was cancelled, and they were refunded. This is not major.

  • Pity the 5% off codes don't work with this :(

I assume multiple giftcards allowed at checkout on their website?

    • I grabbed 5 to make it worthwhile - so yes. Not sure of any limits as I couldnt see any stated.

  • Anyone have issues with a PC browser when purchasing (I was using firefox). Im on a VPN for work but continuously threw me to the Paypal login prompt. No issues via mobile however.

    • +1

No issues on my end using a VPN. Purchased 5x $100 gift cards.

      • Thanks for the response.

  • I was having a quick read through the T&C's - Max 5 per person, but I'm not sure if you can stack more than 5 if you can go into the shop. If i can i will get my wife to buy 5 and i will buy 5?

    • Has anyone redeemed more than 5 instore in one transaction?

      • 5 limit is only apply for online order, insotre there's no limit you can bring 100+ in one transaction.

        • I used 14 the other day in store

      • +1

No I haven't but if they're being too difficult, buy something that's $500 worth with your 5 gift cards. Return it straight away and get 1 gift card worth $500 then combine with 4 of your other ones and so on. You get the idea. ;)

  • Great deal

  • +1

Is it a max of 5 of each denomination?

  • -5

Can i return something i bought recently and then use these cards to pay for it? The thing which i purchased was when they had 20% off if using DJ Amex

    • +3

If you’ve already got 20% off using an Amex, why would you return it only to get 20% off again?

      • -2

i'm thinking of payimng the discounted price through these gift cards gettimng further 20%…:)

        • +5

Huh? You realise since your refund it your won't get the 20% back from the amex any more right?

  • I'm guessing I can't purchase these with eBay gift cards as its only through PayPal?
Edit. If anyone is wondering, just tried and got an error to use different payment method :(

  • +5

Remember to buy thru Qantas mall to earn 5 points per dollar

    • How? I checked Qantas mall just now it's showing 1 point per dollar.

    • how?

      • Think he means when you do your spend on DJ's after receiving the gift cards.

    • No points earned through Qantas Points Online Mall when paying with gift cards

      • If you never try, you never know ;)

      • Slightly related, but you can definitely earn points through Velocity eStore when paying with DJs gift cards

  • +1

shame it's DJs… nothing to buy… bring on COLES myer cards

  • thanks op. pity about 5 card limit

  • Possibly best way to get a Bower & Wilkins PX NC headphone

    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/px-wireless-…

    • Get it delivered or pick up from your nearest store.

    • How do those compare to Sony and Bose?

      • From what I have read, sound is best and best build quality but worse ANC and worse comfort.

      • Favorably. Based on what I've read — and feedback from a friend who owns 1 — the PX wins if you're after Sound Quality. The Sony bests the PX when it comes to Noise Cancelling.

        anyway…

"But right at the top, with the best balance of superb sonic chops and easy-to-use noise-cancellation, are the B&W PXs. They cross the finish-line just ahead of the Sonys thanks to their sense of timing and rhythm"
        https://www.whathifi.com/features/bose-quietcomfort-35-ii-vs…

        • Nice! Still can't justify $550 on headphones:) … I still need to buy a tv and maybe soundbar - want.

        • +1

Problem is can't claim TRS after using giftcards….or can you?

        • @NotAnAudiophile: you can, it's done off the invoice price

        • @NotAnAudiophile:
Why not? As long as invoice shows at least $300, ABN, GST…. you should be able to claim TRS.

        • @ozblocd: OK I'm convinced. Next problem is PX vs Wh-1000XM2!

        • @NotAnAudiophile:
I'm in the same boat. I'm leaning towards either B&W PX or Denon AH-GC20 or B&O P9 but can't justify (yet) for occasional use.

        • @ozblocd: Problem is, compared to elite headphones the WH-1000XM2 is like a toy….

        • @NotAnAudiophile:
IMO - In term of ANC, the WH-1000XM2 (or QC35II) are as good if not better than those exotic headphones i mentioned above. But in term of audio, i think they are not as good but you have to listen hard to pick the difference. I just prefer an audio brand and their exotic look.

  • Thanks OP, is there any limit on the number of gift cards that can be used for an in store transaction?

    • +3

no limit for instore, i purchased something with 22x$100 before. Just be nice to the cashier

      • Thanks:)

        • Or pick on the after school kids at checkout :)

  • Hmm dick smith something something

    • Protected by paypal in this case (not ebay). Specifically states that at purchase. I'd also think that given this is being fulfilled by Paypal there would be a riot if they werent honoured.

PS - not worth a negative on your comment as potentially it could happen.

      • woollies washed their hands of it. Happy to take the neg on the chin if I can see where the guarantee is.

        • Woolies didn't own Dick Smith at the time it went under, they'd sold it years earlier. If you're referring to the gift cards, they were sold by Coles. ..and they ended up offering to replace people's gift cards with Coles gift cards.

Aside from that, I agree with your original comment…I'd be spending these gift cards as soon as possible.

        • @LlamaLlamaLamp: woollies sold DS gift cards and they did wash their hands of it, quite fairly admittedly (why should they bear that burden). I know because I bought the very phone I'm using now with woollies bought DS cards.

The same would apply to PayPal unless someone can point to something written saying they guarantee the amount. Anything more is just hope but if hope helps you sleep better then who am I to argue?

        • @onebutters: I should clarify: Coles sold the discounted gift cards just before DS went into voluntary administration.

        • @LlamaLlamaLamp: yes as did woolworths. They offered 10% value on top IIRC.

  • +1

I bought 5x$100 x 3 accounts and all giftcards received within 5mins of transaction

    • Hope you can use them in one go. Price match a tv is what is what I would be doing!
