    Because the app spams you non stop with alerts by default. Giving them free advertising and most people wouldn't bother turning it off.

    I think because you can't use cashrewards etc. with the app, so they give you a better discount.

      You actually can. Purchases made using the Groupon App are now eligible for rewards as long as the following conditions are met:

      Download & install the Groupon App from iTunes or Google Play.
      From your preferred mobile browser, you MUST begin from a logged-in Cashrewards session and search for Groupon on your phone/tablet.
      When you tap 'Shop Now' or 'Go to Store', your device will automatically open the Groupon App, or you will be presented with an option to download the App.
      If the App opens automatically, great. You're on your way.
      If the App does not open automatically, select 'Download' at top of screen and the App will open.
      Shop as normal. https://www.cashrewards.com.au/groupon

      It didn't work on one of my browsers, but did on the other.
